"Wonderful location on Seto sea, beautiful rooms with sea views. Incredible hot baths. Great food. Very welcoming."
Shimanami PRIME HOTEL IMABARI
"a very narrow room and an uncomfortable parking lot"
IMABARI KOKUSAI HOTEL
"Lovely hotel. Super large rooms. Friendly staff and restaurants. Sky Bar manager was fantastic and made awesome drinks. Amazing selection of artwork around the hotel. Would definitely stay again."
Jr Clement Inn Imabari
"Right next to Imabari Station and the bike rental spot-super convenient for starting the Shimanami Kaido. Clean, comfy, and cyclist-friendly!"
Fujimien
"We enjoyed the delicious, abundant fresh seafood and the warm service. However, the mattresses on the floor were very thin by our standards, which made it difficult for us to get proper sleep and rest between our long bike rides."
Hotel Route Inn Imabari
"Hotel is not accessible unless you drive and that’s precisely why my friend and I chose this place: free car parking and cheaper rates(since it’s not close to any station). Hotel is as good as new."
Hotel Kikusui Imabari
"We did the Shimanami Kaido and spent one night here before turning around and returning to Onomichi the next day. They allow bikes to be kept in the room and it was more spacious than expected. We comfortably fit 3 bikes. The building is a little on the older side, but the customer service was great. Would gladly stay again."
Super Hotel Imabari
"This is a very good hotel in Japan. Cleanliness is a must, the rooms are larger than other hotels, the location is great, and the front desk staff speaks fluent English (I suspect some of them are Filipinos). The staff are also very friendly."
HOTEL STAY Plus
"We booked 2 nights, but we checked out early.I didn’t expect toilet and shower room are separate or common .it’s very inconvenient to us and so noisy because of the construction.you need to carry your luggage from 1st floor to 2nd floor. And i was surprised while we sleeping that morning staff open the door for cleaning 😡😡😡"

Imabari Station Hotel
"The most affordable hotel through out my trip! It was extremely affordable, despite its great location, situated close to both the bus and train station (making it a perfect location after a long journey). The staff is polite, the room is spacious enough and it offer all the amenities of more expensive hotel (like a public onsen and personal hygiene products). Despite a limited variety of options of the breakfast buffet, the quality of the ingreadient and what was offered was excelent. Well worth the price."
Hotel Crown Hills Imabari
"The rooms are small but clean. The breakfast is Japanese style."
Coliving & Cafe Sando
"Great clean option with many goodies for the Shimanami Kaido and a good cafe attached. (E.g. toothbrushes, ear plugs, etc...)"
Guest House & Cafe Ohana
"Excellent stay!"
Sawaki
"The Japanese-style room is very clean and tidy, and the host's service is warm, thoughtful and meticulous. The hotel includes breakfast and dinner, the dinner is extremely rich and large, including a variety of delicious seafood and fish. The breakfast was also very rich and delicious, a very good experience."
SANTE 4073 STAY & SAUNA HAKATA ISLAND 1
"Nice home comfortable to stay, good location by the seaside with supermarket ready at the back of the house! Sauna and ice bath available too! The only thing is the kitchen is very small to cook. Would recommend for group travelling but not too much cooking! Or otherwise the BBQ grill is available. "
Hakata Plus
"The welcoming hosts, everything you need for accommodation. The only small minus is the road under the windows, but it is not very loaded. The hosts have a complete gay on the island, made personally, if you suddenly decide to stay on this island, a great option."
Daichoso
"After cycling to the end of our journey, we checked into our hotel and soaked in the large hot tub in our room. Enjoying a sumptuous meal in the scenic restaurant, watching the view from dusk till night, was truly delightful. There was so much food that we couldn't finish it all, and we needed help from others. Sitting on the tatami mats in our room, we could see the ocean whirlpools and the bridge leading to Imabari. The hotel service was excellent, and our whole family felt it was a fantastic stay and meal. (I'm very curious about how the hotel's shampoo and conditioner kept our hair smooth and frizz-free all day—even that excited us!)"
Simanami Guest House Orange No Kaze
"Friends and I stayed here one night after finishing the Shimanami Kaido. It was no luxury hotel, but it was clean, neat, and comfortable. Location was in a part of town that frankly felt a bit run down, but we never felt unsafe, and it is in fact located very close to the centre of down, and just a 15 minute walk from Imabari train station. The manager doesn't work on site, so when you make your booking, you have to indicate what time you arrive so they'll come down to check you in. Otherwise, you'll have to drop them a message, or give them a call. You have access to the building's rooftop deck, which offers truly excellent views of the islands to the north, the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, and Imabari Castle. For the price, you really couldn't ask for much more."
Glamprook Shimanami
"All rooms are said to have ocean views, but room 305 doesn’t have an ocean view… The sea can be seen in the distance from the bathroom??? Is it because I used Trip to stay a little cheaper? I was very disappointed with the view that felt like a small room. The sauna glass is not clean, so the view from the sauna is not very good... Nevertheless, I was impressed by the staff's consideration and kindness and the way they did their best to give even 10 stars less. It was a very happy trip, especially thanks to the staff who said Nepal was their hometown."
Umiyado Ohana
"Price: ¥12,000 per night Honestly, the stay was completely worthless. First of all, there was no reception upon arrival, and no one answered the doorbell. There were no signs or directions. It wasn't until I called that I was told the reception was in the annex, about a 10-minute bike ride away. They said they'd given me directions in advance, but since I'd booked through an app, there was no verbal explanation. There was also no mention of this in email, SMS, or within the app. As a result, I was stuck in front of the inn for 10 minutes in the scorching summer sun. Not a single apology was given. The building and rooms are quite old. Luggage was scattered all over the common hallway, making it hard to believe this was really a lodging facility. As for the room, the door was loose, there was no bathroom, the shared shower was obviously outdated, and the bathtub was unusable. I was told to be careful because the bathroom door was poorly fitted, but shouldn't it have been fixed in the first place? The room was quite dusty, so I opened the window to try to ventilate, but the screen was ripped to shreds, so I gave up. The screen door seemed to have been left unmaintained and was quite hard to move. When I checked in, I was given a piece of paper and told to write my name and contact information and leave it in the room, but the essential pen was not provided. Attention to detail was completely lacking. There were also zero amenities. This wasn't stated in the reservation, so I didn't have high expectations, but of course there was nothing. For laundry, you have to pay to use an old washing machine in the annex. It was in the common area, but it didn't seem clean and I didn't feel like using it. The room was also poorly cleaned, with dust under the bed and dirt on the desk and mirror, which made me feel uneasy about hygiene. Also, I booked an ocean view room. In reality, it was on the first floor and only had a view of the garden and road. I was booking with one other person, so it wasn't a problem, but the reservation instructions said the room could accommodate up to three people, but it was far too small for three people. This is clearly a scam. The location is also inconvenient. I was hoping there would be a public bath nearby, but in fact, I had to make a big detour around the river, and the supermarkets and convenience stores were far away, making it very inconvenient. There were no restaurants within walking distance either. I regret that I didn't do enough research, but it was certainly inconvenient. Also, check-in was after 5:00 PM and check-out was by 9:30 AM. Compared to surrounding accommodations, check-out was only about 30 minutes earlier than average, but check-in at the surrounding accommodations seemed to start around 3:00 PM, so it was clearly late. The manager was also in the annex all the time, which made communication a hassle. One good thing about this accommodation is that it's close to the beach, which is great for playing in the sea. I couldn't find any other particularly good points. Overall, if the cost was low, I would be able to accept it as a place to just stay, but I can't understand the price of 12,000 yen per night. The guesthouse I stayed at on other islands the day before and the day after was cheaper, cleaner, and offered better service, so this one felt particularly overpriced and uncomfortable. In fact, it's more expensive than the business hotels I stayed at in Imabari and Onomichi. I will never use it again and don't recommend it unless the cost comes down."
Ryokan Chaume
"This graceful ryokan has been running a business for 150 years located in a sedated little town. Maybe it’s off season. I felt I was in the middle of nowhere worrying what to do with my time there. However Izumi San the host has been helping me above and beyond trying to make me feel welcome. She escorted me to and from the onsen each night punctually. She got all the information for me to rent a bicycle and get me the bus time table ready for me to travel to Hiroshima. Btw the bike ride was amazing and is a must do for islands hopping. Although we communicated mostly through Google translate and some of my broken Japanese. We have had some good laugh. Chaume did offer me couple of restful nights. To Izumi San, arigato gozaimasu. 💝"
Yu-Rah
"Great spot !! lovely preprepared snacks. View is amazing and design is top notch. Recommend to stay one night or if you have time definitely stay more!"
Mikado
"I wanted to stay in a quiet place without many people, so I stayed at a ryokan in the mountains a little far from Matsuyama, and it was really nice! Okami-san guided me very kindly, so I was able to stay comfortably. I felt good because the hot spring was small and decorated beautifully. Above all, the food was delicious. Thank you! あと、女将さんめっちゃbeautiful peopleです👍"
Komecho Ryokan
"This hotel is ******. They force me to take a photo and make a copy of my ID and then threaten me! Ironically, Japanese people don't need a copy of their ID, but foreigners do! I knew it was illegal, so I flatly refused! They're going to misuse my personal information!"
Kadota Ryokan
"The hot springs were great. I think young people might not like unisex toilets."
