"Whenever my husband and I travel, we always have to pick a really nice hotel, as he's quite particular. I chose this one after seeing it ranked number one in Pu'er based on reviews. It was my first time staying here, and I was absolutely blown away. First off, as soon as we got out of the car, a dedicated staff member helped us with our luggage to the front desk. While we were checking in, a lovely lady had already prepared and served us tea. We were quite thirsty after a long journey, and usually, I rarely drink the tea offered at hotels. Out of politeness, I accepted it and took a sip, and it was simply amazing (YYDS)! Pu'er tea really is something else. It was fragrant, mellow, sweet, and had a lingering aftertaste – I ended up drinking three cups. After checking in, another lady had already taken our luggage to our room. These thoughtful details alone were enough to impress me. Stepping into the room, it was incredibly comfortable. The environment goes without saying, and the attention to detail was exceptional. I had initially planned to write a glowing review yesterday, but I wanted to experience the breakfast first, so here's my review today. Breakfast was also fantastic, definitely something to look forward to. I highly recommend this place to everyone visiting Pu'er – come and experience it for yourselves! Plus, laundry service is free, and snacks and fruits are all complimentary."

"My friend and I traveled to Pu'er. When I checked in, it was more than 8 o'clock in the evening. The front desk lady checked in quickly. Because the journey was very tired and sleepy, I chose a hotel close to the high-speed rail station on the first day of arrival in Pu'er. I opened the room and went to wash and slept. There is no smell in the room, it is very quiet, I slept until noon the next day, very comfortable, the front desk lady service is very good, active, enthusiastic, friendly, the hotel bedding is also very comfortable, the room is spacious and bright"

"The hotel service was excellent, and all the facilities were brand new. The front desk offered free laundry and drying services, which was incredibly convenient – I could get my clothes done while having dinner and taking a stroll. The housekeeping attendant even thoughtfully provided lens wipes, which was a very nice touch! The breakfast here was incredibly rich and delicious, easily comparable to some five-star hotels. The parting gifts upon checkout were also very practical, including a steam eye mask, Dai brown sugar, and Vinda tissues – thoughtful and spot on! This was my first time visiting Pu'er, and the hotel experience was fantastic. I highly recommend Holiday Inn Express and hope to have the chance to stay here again."

"I really didn't expect such a great hotel! The value for money is outstanding. For just over 300 yuan, you get three meals included. The breakfast is abundant, lunch is delicious, and even the rice noodles and wontons for dinner are excellent. The room is clean, tidy, and the facilities are top-notch. Every towel comes in a disinfected plastic bag, and there are complimentary herbal foot soaks to relieve travel fatigue. The disposable face towels are also of very good quality. Every single staff member at the hotel is incredibly enthusiastic, even the ladies in the restaurant — you can tell they've received very professional training from the hotel. The complimentary popsicles provided by the hotel add a very thoughtful touch. Plus, the hotel even offers free laundry service and delivers it right to your room. All in all, this is by far the most satisfying hotel we've stayed at during our 10-day trip to Yunnan. If they have chain hotels in other cities we visit later, we'll definitely choose them again."

"Came here after spending three days in Xishuangbanna. I chose this hotel primarily for its location. The entrance is small, but the facade decor is quite nice. However, there are a few things I really didn't like:
1. The soundproofing is terrible. On top of that, there were wood-knocking sounds in the middle of the night, coming from what sounded like an attic. The rhythm was very consistent, with several sets of knocking. I barely slept the first night.
2. There was a disposable toilet seat cover next to the toilet with a sign saying it was for-pay use, but the bathtub cover didn't have a similar sign. Either don't provide them at all, or charge for both, or make both free.
3. The front desk staff seemed unprofessional and in need of systematic training. Their service felt inconsistent and chaotic.
4. The breakfast selection was limited, and tables weren't cleared promptly. When I went for breakfast at 9:00 AM, there were no seats available except for the high stools at the bar.
5. There aren't many hotel options in Pu'er. I'd suggest sticking with chains like Ji Hotel or Home Inn. Paying so much for this hotel just isn't worth it."

"It is a family hotel. The first floor is the living room and dining room, and the third and fourth floors are guest rooms. The location is very good, just a three-minute walk to the old street, and there is a snack bar and convenience store downstairs. The room is not big, but clean, bright and tidy. It has everything you need. It is quiet and not noisy at night. The price is reasonable for staying for 2 nights. The mattress is very hard and there is no elevator, please note if you mind."

"Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in China. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the hotel. The room was very spacious and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice of freshly cooked food. Fresh noodles, Brioche bread and fried eggs were my favourite. Plus there was lots of other choices of food. The fresh bread to cup coffee in the reception was excellent with a lovely cappuccino available using fresh milk. Not often you get that choice in Chinese hotels. If you are in pu'er you will find it hard to get a better hotel for the money, with all the facilities and so close to Simao old town. 10 out of 10."

"Had a very comfortable stay with my family. The bedding was soft and everything was spotlessly clean, which gave us great peace of mind. In the morning, we saw them making pastries by hand at the restaurant, which made us feel even more reassured about eating there. We really enjoyed the taste. After breakfast, I took a look at the garden outside and the environment was indeed lovely ((*^∀^)).

AAstrxdThe environment was very comfortable and relaxing. Beautiful view whwre you can see some of the sea of clouds. They give you disposable coverings for you to put on top of the fresh pillow bedding and mattress for extra hygiene which is a nice touch I haven't seen before. Bathroom is very clean, though there are only two toilets and two showers and two sinks, so do note that for busy season, but it wasn't an issue at all during my stay. They provided breakfast too, fresh milk the boss heated for me when I got up, and red sugar glutinous rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves (babas), and it was fun to get ready for the day with new friends on the balcony overlooking the village. I think the environment is very good for meeting new friends and other solo travelers- I arrived at the hostel randomly at the same time as three other girls, and we explored Manghong togetjer on the boss's recommendations for itinerary and sightseeing. And the next day the boss dropped us off at a tea roasting experience, and just as we were heading to Nuogan another girl from the hostel finished her tea roasting session, so we all went to Nuogan togetjer to play. The boss even helped load my luggage onto the shuttle bus so that it could pick me up at a sightseeing spot further down the mountain!

GGuest UserChoosing this hotel during my trip to Ning'er was definitely the right decision.
First, the location: it's easy to find, and parking is convenient with both above-ground and underground parking. The surrounding area isn't particularly bustling, but it has all the necessary restaurants and small shops selling daily necessities. Most importantly, it's incredibly quiet at night, allowing me to sleep soundly until dawn.
The front desk staff were efficient and straightforward; check-in was completed in just a few minutes. Adding their assistant also resulted in receiving a hotel check-in guide and travel tips.
My first impression of the room was its cleanliness. I'm a bit picky, but the sheets and bathroom were impeccable, without any musty or disinfectant smells. The hot water was strong enough, perfect for a relaxing shower. The internet speed was also fast, allowing me to work or watch movies without any buffering.
What surprised me most was the small garden. Taking a stroll there in the morning to breathe in some fresh air, or sitting there for a smoke in the evening, is much better than being cooped up in the room.
Overall, it's not flashy, but it does everything you need well; it's the kind of place where you feel your money was well spent. If I come here again next time, I'll definitely stay here again.

MAJOR ISSUE - Smoke Everywhere:
The corridor constantly smelled of smoke. Men smoked in the lobby - some appeared to be affiliated with ownership as they treated the place like their own property and staff spoke to them like friends or family. Staff did absolutely nothing to enforce no-smoking policies even after being told. People also smoked in the corridor, and I could smell it from my small window even on the top floor.
MAJOR ISSUE - Constant Noise:
Lobby and corridors always noisy with loud customers
Same men from lobby playing phone calls or video games on speaker very loudly
Guests constantly slamming doors at all hours, including early morning - very inconsiderate
Large groups being very noisy in corridors
Rooster on neighboring rooftop starting early morning (first day)
Very regular loud banging noise from ceiling in my room (first day)
Drilling noise next door during the day for extended periods
Friday night: company party in conference room with dozens of people screaming VERY loud for hours, continuing well into sleep time hours. They were smoking too.
Service Issues:
Reception staff during check-in seemed unwilling to serve me because I'm not Chinese, making it more difficult for them. I've stayed at plenty of hotels across all Chinese provinces where staff use translation tools - it's not that hard. The service was quite chaotic and time/energy consuming for me.
I was told I could request housekeeping at a specific time, so I did. More than one hour later nothing was done, so I asked again and was told ”housekeeping is having lunch now.”
Food delivery via robot malfunctioned; food ended up back at reception inside the robot and I had to queue to ask about it
Cleanliness Concerns:
Cutleries such as forks and spoons in breakfast room looked very dirty
Tea mugs in my room had tea residue still in them - they clean the mugs in the sink with their finger which is gross
Mini fridge drinks not replenished after first night
Facility Issues:
Swimming pool closed despite online information saying it should be open
Common areas including lobby very cold with no heating - people dress like they're outside. Not comfortable, convenient, or homey

Shower handle won't stay in place, keeps moving to the side

Breakfast finishes a bit early at 10am. Food looks fresh, some egg options if you're vegetarian, but it's mostly Chinese food so quite oily. Cakes are very nice though, seem fresh and well-made.
Would not recommend - the smoke and noise issues alone make this place impossible to rest properly.

GGuest UserThis was probably the best hotel I stayed in Yunnan so far.
To start, the room was incredibly clean, new, spacious, and most importantly comfortable, the bed was comfortable and clean when I got there.
On top of this, the amenities within the room are amazing, AI assisted curtain and light activation, strong and fast AC system. The bathroom was huge and had individual rooms for the shower and toilet. The shower area had everything needed and was very spacious. Tons of kits for shaving, vanity, and all that you would need for a hotel stay. Even more, there was an air purifier and majiang table. If you order delivery there is a robot that sends the food to your room.
Staff were very friendly and dependable, gifts were given during leaving, there was also a free breakfast and bridge crossing rice noodle kit that you could order anytime, very tasty!
Lastly, and also very important for travelers, the location is superb, being situated close to the city center and only a 15 minute drive from the train station and opposite side of town. Very convenient!! The area is also quiet and relatively clean.

Just a 100-meter walk downstairs brings you to the Bonfire Square, where you can watch and participate in evening dancing. A few steps further brings you to the Tea Horse Ancient City Night Market, where visitors can stroll, eat, and have fun. The rooms are spacious, bright, and clean, with a small balcony perfect for enjoying the view, tea, and conversation. The proprietress is dedicated, down-to-earth, hardworking, and warmly attentive.

GGuest UserIf you book early, you can also get a free horseback riding experience. The fee includes three meals a day, you can swim, catch fish in the stream, watch the sunrise and sea of clouds, taste coffee and pick coffee beans. It is definitely a treasure manor. It was New Year's Eve, and we prepared a self-service stir-fry, which tasted good. The self-service beef hot pot was also great, with many varieties, delicious beef, and self-service drinks. What else do you want a bicycle?

AAnqiFacilities: The facilities are relatively new and clean, and there is really no smell of cigarettes. Hot water came quickly.
Hygiene: Very clean, including the sofa and bed flags in the room, the bathroom is also equipped with a disposable toilet.
Breakfast: There are two breakfasts, with local red rice noodles, as well as Western milk bread and cakes. Children under 120 are free.
Praise: I would like to thank the lady at the front desk of the hotel very much. Because I left in a hurry, I forgot to collect the child's teddy bear doll from the quilt when I left. That was my child's Abebei. As mothers know, although it looks like a discarded short-legged teddy bear doll, it is really important to my child. I found it more than 12 hours after leaving the hotel and called the front desk to look for it. When they heard that it was so important to us, they did not perfunctorily deal with it, but kept looking for the cleaning lady and the brother in charge of linens. After three days of non-stop searching, they finally found it in the factory of the linen cleaning company and delivered it back to the lady at the front desk of the hotel in time. After adding WeChat for confirmation, they handed it to the SF Express courier to send it back to us. The child was really happy when she saw her teddy bear was found. We had almost no hope, they were really caring and made our family feel very warm. Recommended to everyone, this is a very warm hotel! I will bring my children and family to stay in this hotel in the future! Thank you!

Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.
Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.
The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.
The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this.
Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.
Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.
We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.
Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.
For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.
