Cleanliness: The hygiene is neat and tidy.
Environment: The sulfur smell is easy to get used to; you can even soak directly in the sulfur hot springs without any issues. It's practically right at the doorstep of the hot spring town and Hell Valley. You can also book a shuttle to the Noboribetsu Bear Park, and walking there is actually quite nice, as you can browse the hot spring town along the way.
Service: The service is exceptionally good, definitely five-star standard. The breakfast and dinner were also excellent."

"The environment is beautiful, and the service is friendly. I came here through a local tour group I found on Trip.com, with Hell Valley as the last stop. Since the tour ended at 3 PM, it was perfect for check-in. The hot spring here is incredibly comfortable, it feels truly amazing. The food is also delicious and multi-layered, unlike anything I've tasted before, and different from the usual kaiseki cuisine we're used to. The ingredients are very unique. It's definitely worth a try. I feel very lucky to have chosen such a wonderful hotel on my first trip to Hokkaido."

"The Chiba crab was incredibly delicious! I've never had one with so much roe and such sweet meat. Both breakfast and dinner buffets were fantastic, and the beef was truly amazing. Everything was great. Honestly, it's the best hotel buffet I've ever had.
The hot spring area is also beautiful, and the outdoor baths are absolutely stunning. You can even enjoy a snow view from the sauna. This price is completely worth it.
I think the Chiba crab is probably available on weekends; I visited on a Friday. I saw some reviews mentioning it wasn't available, which I assume means on Sundays, but even without it, all the other food makes it well worth the price."

"The price was reasonable. It's about a kilometer uphill from the main shopping street, but we drove and appreciated the parking lot. There's a pretty little waterfall behind the parking area.
Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style, and the food was just average. If you stay two nights in a row, they offer sweet shrimp on the second day.
The Japanese-style room was standard and reasonably clean.
We reserved a private onsen via email for 3300 yen. The experience was just okay, and I felt the public bath was better. With a 50-minute time limit, it felt a bit rushed."

"The service was excellent! We were delayed checking in due to a blizzard, and by the time we arrived, there was only half an hour left before the buffet closed. The hotel staff prioritized taking us straight to the restaurant to eat. The tatami room was very interesting, and although the room was a bit old, it was well-maintained and clean. There were so many hot spring baths, both indoors and outdoors. It's also very close to Jigokudani (Hell Valley), just a 10-minute walk away."

"This was my second onsen hotel stay in Jigokudani, and compared to others, this one had fewer guests and rooms, truly embodying the essence of a hot spring resort. The room was spacious and felt very boutique. The private onsen was a sulfur spring, and the public bathhouse offered other types of springs. The dinner kaiseki was a bit average; the ingredients and cooking were decent, but the service felt like a fast-food restaurant. Breakfast was slightly better."

"This hotel is pretty good! You can freely access the hot springs at Dai-ichi Takimotokan across the small road, which is a great value alternative to it. The rooms are a bit small, and it's mostly self-service. The staff at the cafe on the first floor double as the front desk, so you can contact them if you need anything. Overall, it's good value for money. It might be off-season now, as many restaurants in the onsen town are closed, and there's always a wait for tables. However, Japanese 7-Elevens are incredibly reliable, so you won't go hungry. Japanese hot spring etiquette isn't that complicated; just remember **. See the pictures for the process."

"The ryokan was quite charming with lots of Japanese accents and architectural details. We signed up for one traditional breakfast and loved the experience. We loved the yukata outfits provided to schlep around the ryokan or even around town. The location was a bit of a walk going to the business/food/shop road but this only got a bit inconvenient when we had to drag our suitcases for about 10 minutes getting to the bus stop on our way back to the train station... thank goodness it was downhill all the way! Noboribetsu Onsen was a really cool place to visit!"

"An excellent experience! As I stepped out of the bus station and was looking around, the hotel greeter, an elderly gentleman, spotted me from afar and came over to help with my luggage. The Chinese gentleman at the front desk and the ********* lady who delivered room service were both incredibly professional and friendly. I also want to commend all the local grandpas, uncles, and aunties who provided service – they were all very courteous and had a wonderful service-oriented mindset! A special shout-out and well wishes to the sweet smiling ********* girl and the handsome guy at the front desk – may you both always be happy!"

"The hostel is very close by, right outside the station. The front desk staff are friendly, fluent in English, and will show you around and help you upstairs to your bed. Self-check-in is not available, so please check in before 9 PM! The first floor is a common area with a kitchen, washing machine, shoe cabinet, and seating area. The second floor has a female room, a mixed-gender room, and separate male and female toilets. You must remove your shoes before going upstairs, so the room is very clean! The wooden floors in the room look quite cozy, but they may be a bit old and noisy when walking. You can also hear noise from the next room while sleeping, but free earplugs are provided. There's only one power outlet by the bed, so an extension cord is recommended. The hallway is small, so it's not recommended to bring suitcases; backpacks may have to be placed on the bed. Breakfast is provided: thick toast, various jams, coffee, fresh milk, and cereal. 👍🏻 Luggage storage is free; the front desk staff will arrange for you to store your luggage. 👍🏻"

DDi TanThis traditional Japanese ryokan features a private onsen and is located about 8 minutes on foot from the main road with restaurants and 20 minutes from the entrance to Jigokudani (Hell Valley). The interior is beautifully maintained in classic style, with tatami flooring throughout the common areas and guest rooms, which are furnished with comfortable futon bedding.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-equipped with amenities. Anything not already provided can be taken from the selection near the reception. Guests receive a yukata to wear around the ryokan and to the onsen. Complimentary drinks are available at reception, though they request you enjoy them in your room rather than common areas.
The gender-separated onsen, while small, has everything needed for a relaxing soak. Each bathing area includes both indoor and outdoor pools, and they alternate daily between men's and women's use. During my stay, it was never crowded.
One disappointment was being unable to book the in-room dinner service upon morning arrival, as it was apparently too late to arrange. Those interested should probably reserve at least a day in advance.
Overall, it's a comfortable, authentic ryokan experience with superb service and good facilities.

LlulukalinThis is an established onsen ryokan. While the facilities are a bit old, they are very clean. The front desk on the first floor and the restaurant on the second floor are elegantly and quaintly decorated, making for excellent photo opportunities. The futons in the tatami room are laid out by staff, so you don't have to do it yourself. It's a 3-5 minute walk from the Onsen Bus Stop, and there's a 7-Eleven right across from the ryokan. Jigokudani Onsen is also within walking distance. As for breakfast and dinner, just look at the pictures – they are fantastic and well worth experiencing. All in all, this place offers incredible value for money, especially during the New Year's period.

GGuest UserOur family of three comfortably stayed in a room that featured both a tatami mat area and a Western bed. Upon check-in, we were given traditional Japanese yukata. The onsen (hot spring baths) are conveniently located on the B1 floor. For breakfast, there was a good selection of both Japanese and Western dishes. The hotel's location is also quite close to Jigokudani.

”Love our stay.” The room was impeccably clean, serene, and beautifully appointed, providing the perfect traditional atmosphere. The highlight, beyond the relaxing onsen itself, was the incredible food—each meal was a masterpiece of kaiseki cuisine, using fresh, local ingredients. The attention to detail and gracious service made our stay truly special. We left feeling completely rejuvenated and can't wait to return.”

YYUEI lived in Noboribetsu and this atrium, and I still prefer this one. If I go to Noboribetsu next time, I will stay there again. On the mountain Noboribetsu, pick-up service at 2:00 and 4:00 pm (pick-up at JR station) is available after booking with the hotel. The hotel is good, just don't like their public slippers (woven straw uppers). If you don't wear socks, you will feel a little sticky, but so is the flower atrium. The open-air style of the house is very good. It is relatively large. You can take a look at the snow on the pine trees while soaking in the hot spring. It feels very natural and much stronger than the open-air style of the flower atrium. I ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel, but it was really bad. This may be my own problem. I am not used to eating. The ice cream at the kiosk downstairs is delicious, you buy it every day, and it's easy to buy water. There is a small park in front of the hotel, the snow is very thick, you can play with snow, and there is no one. It is clean and very comfortable. A 15-minute walk from the hotel is the Noboribetsu ski resort. It is very convenient to play snow and there are very few people. In short, it is quite satisfactory.
