The Mary Mount Hotel

The Mary Mount Hotel

📍 Borrowdale, Keswick
★★★ 8.7 (59 reviews)

"A very bad experience. The bathroom wasn't connected to the room, and there was no refrigerator, drinking water, or slippers. Both the room and bathroom were extremely cold, and the shower was incredibly small. The price didn't match the room rate at all, and the breakfast wasn't good. Fortunately, I only booked one night, so I had to make do with it!"

Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa

Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa

📍 Bassenthwaite Lake, Keswick
★★★★ 9.0 (74 reviews)

"This is a historic building that dates back to 1548 and has gone through 11 owners. Today it is a spa hotel The hotel sits on a large piece of land, with herds of cattle and sheep in front of the door. The restaurant on the other side has a great view of the lake and a large meadow. Rabbits and squirrels often jump around in the meadow and forest. You can reach the lake through a path, or you can hike in the forest. From the elevator, you can feel that the hotel has a sense of age. The spa has a constant-temperature swimming pool, a cold pool, a hot pool, and an outdoor hot pool, facing a large area of grass and woods, which is really pleasant. The only thing to note is: if you check out at 11 o'clock, you must go to the spa before checking out. After 11 o'clock, there will be an additional charge of 20 pounds per person."

Keswick Park Hotel

Keswick Park Hotel

📍 33 Station Rd, Keswick
★★★ 8.1 (117 reviews)

"Stayed for two days, booked separately in two reservations, detailed review in another post I saw Chinese people in the hotel team in the welcome letter, but I didn’t meet any this time (to be precise, I hardly met any Chinese people in Keswick. It is a good choice for quiet and leisure. I like Keswick very much"

Craglands Guest House

Craglands Guest House

📍 Penrith Rd, Keswick
★★★★ 8.4 (50 reviews)

"Let down. I came here years ago and it was lovely. New owner insisted on an ETA, wanted to know my plans to arrange parking, insisted I leave my key somewhere if needed, said I had to pay cash, had to say if I wanted more than 1 sausage or 1 bacon… just intense … it just wasn’t a nice feeling. Breakfast was poor. Frozen bread I had to toast, cold bacon, defrosted fruit … old sauces and cereal. I couldn’t stomach it the last day and left early. Room was tired, different colour walls (!) and old fashioned. Beds were clean. Told room would be ‘serviced’ but only emptied the bin and our biscuits were out of date. It cost me £330 for 3 nights… I will never be back. Keswick is beautiful, this is not."

Keswick Park Hotel ★★★
"Keswick Park Hotel is very close to the station, making it convenient for transportation. The hotel offers an English breakfast, which you can order according to your own taste. It is surrounded by a park, so the environment is beautiful. We were given a room on the first floor, which had a large living room outside, which was great!"

"Very pleasant short 2-night stay over the New Year. Booked this guest house based on the reviews on here. We had a bit of spare time before checking in so knocked on the door to ask about parking. We were given our keys early and advice about parking, as it happens, we parked right outside in the street for free parking. The room was a good size for what we needed, which was only somewhere to kip as we knew we would be out walking all day. The big high bed was super comfy, Wi-Fi in the room was very strong at no extra charge, usual tea/coffee facilities provided with a bottle of water and biscuits. On the side in the room was a breakfast menu which required populating for the next morning's order. There was a good choice from your full English to simple food like egg on toast. We both opted for the full English. Breakfast time and the food was excellent, the produce was top quality and all cooked to my liking, bacon slightly crispy, it arrived piping hot with a good pot of coffee. I don't normal have two breakfasts on the trot, but I ordered the same again for the next day and again it was excellent. Would definitely return, and we plan to."

Borrowdale Gates Hotel ★★★★
"Plucked out of the air by TripAdvisor for a last-minute break near Keswick ….Borrowdale Gates. We loved it ….We live not too far away and often visit Keswick and the popular spots in the Lake District, but this area of Borrowdale was something special. Driving down the east of Derwentwater, through the little village of Grange, arriving at the Gates Hotel. Simple check-in with Shynese and shown to our lovely room 10. A short ride down to Keswick on the western road …fantastic views of the lake; then back to the Gates, rest and down for dinner. Fillet of beef and corn-fed chicken ….beautifully presented and tasty, with a delicious dessert to follow. A good night’s sleep, then down for a hearty Cumbrian breakfast. Off to Cockermouth (loved the independent shops and the history ….and the Moon and Sixpence coffee shop); then onto Buttermere and a short walk along the lakeside ….such stunning scenery - we must go back and walk the circular tour of the lake. Back to the Gates and refreshing drinks on the lawn; chose to eat in Keswick, but so crowded. Our last night’s sleep, then our last Cumbrian breakfast before saying goodbye ….but we’ll be back. Many Thanks to James and all the staff …see you soon."

Premier Inn Keswick ★★★
"Arrived at the hotel at around 1930 in the evening of 14th July. On arrival, there was nobody at the desk. I used the automated check in and tagged my room key. A good job I noticed the room number as the print out did not work. As I was on the evening meal plan, I tried to find out it works but then noticed a sign saying the kitchen was closed. I pressed the buzzer to get someone to talk to. When the employee attended he asked for my room number, tapped away at the screen, then telling me that I had been refunded. I then said I’m not happy and what you going to do about it. The employee then sarcastically said “do you want me to go down town and get you something” to which I replied yes then. To which my answer back from the employee was “that’s clearly not going to happen” How Premier Inn employee such rude staff is beyond me. In another situation, I popped to the bar later on, the bar man was a really nice guy."

"Great central location to Keswick Town and Derwent Water. Youth Hostel we had a private room. Beautiful located next to a running stream overlooking Fritz Park from our balcony. Our room was very clean. The staff are very polite and helpful. Great location from the M6 Morotway North to Scotland and South bound past Kendal the gateway to the Lake District. Plenty to do in and around Keswick. There's the theatre by the Lake worth a visit. Keswick Convention ( Christian) held around July through to August. And much more. Great experience at the Youth Hostel!! Will visit again!"

"We booked two nights in pet friendly room. Greeted by very friendly host matt, he was very informative with local information. Room was lovely. Well equipped. Both clearly dog lovers, and gave our pet the same attention. Breakfast was wide range of choice. Cereals, toast, juices, I didn't opt for hot breakfast, but my husband did. Was presented beautifully, and prepared by paul. He was happy with it. Room was serviced. Clean towels which smelt divine by the way as did the bed sheets. Really nice touch on day of checking out to each have a very generous piece of cake to take home. What a lovely guesthouse with lovely hosts! Would recommend and would most definitely book again."
