"I can't believe this is a Sheraton. The main issue was the terrible hygiene – the pictures show the towels, sofa cushion, and duvet cover right when I checked in. Even after complaining, they just replaced them without any real apology or effort. Secondly, the buffet was very mediocre; for an island nation, the crab was empty and the meat was really unappetizing. The beach was okay, I guess. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. It's extremely poor value for money and a really bad experience!"

"We booked our trip several months ago, whilst waiting for our trip to start we saw the latest review that left us quite apprehensive. Firstly any issues that may have occurred regarding the dining experience was not visible and the food at the Habitat was a sheer delight! So from what I saw any criticism was listened to and procedures were put in place to fix the issues. As an ex duty manager of a 5 star hotel in the UK and an ex Chef for a Master Chef of Great Britain I can honestly say this hotel goes above and beyond for their guests and it was consistant. THE HOTEL AND GROUNDS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 Stars) The hotel is situated south of the Island in a sleepy town right on the beach literally a stones throw away from the waves and wildlife. There is a train station approximately 4 minutes away walking and no you can't hear the trains due to the sound of the waves so incase you require public transport i thought best to tell you as you wouldn't know. The hotel is kept in excellent condition and even cleansed with burning Sage by the staff and have all the necessary facilities (even a gym, basic but there if needed). We used the Spa which was easy to book relaxing and done in a professional manner. The hotel room was very comfortable, perfectly air-conditioned, cleaned immaculately and had a beautiful view of the ocean waves and palm trees. The swimming pool was spotless, no leaves or debris and the local dragon flies are constantly removing any mosquitos or unwanted pests free of charge. The hotel is also manned by security at the entrance and by the beach. You can watch the sunsets on the beach every evening as its facing towards the west. Also the local children fly their kites on the beach and there are a treasure trove of seashells to collect. STAFF AND CUSTOMER SERVICE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 Stars) As previously mentioned I have a great deal of experience in the hospitality industry and trust me you won't be let down. Checking in was done with ease, they sit you down in the foyer with wet refreshing hand towels and a welcome drink, take your passports and return them once everything has been completed, no questions no standing around. Everyone that works at the hotel is smiling and will always greet you and personally I think this is due to how the hotel is run. On our first night I saw after the guests had eaten in the restaurant the general manager sits down with the staff and eat together which is a clear indication of respect and being a team. I was greeted on the first day by "Bob" the local fixer for excursions, he was calm not pushy and had a great deal of knowledge on what to do and was happy to cater to our needs. Not only did he arrange 3 amazing trips he helped me propose to my partner which was without doubt perfect. Bob arranged for us to go to the local sea turtle sanctuary and then had 2 sea turtles ready to be released brought back to the beach at the hotel so my partner and I could release them before the surprise proposal! "The pleasure is a unique, 6 room hotel, ideal for couples seeking a peaceful beachfront stay. We stayed in the Pandanus suite on 1st floor, for three nights at the end of our tour. This is a ‘King Suite’. The room was very spacious with lots of units/storage, a safe and a full size fridge. Lovely floor to ceiling glazing to enjoy the sea view. We could not get the TV to work. The room and bathroom were immaculately clean. The shower was powerful but it leaked quite badly. On our second night, only the first person to shower had hot water. I’m assuming, many guests were showering at the same time as it was straight after sunset. There was a large clothes airier on balcony which was very useful. There were a small amount of toiletries provided with more available on request. There was no creamer provided in the room but I’m sure you could ask for some. We had our own anyway. Environmental policy to not unnecessarily clean rooms/empty bins/change towels unless requested (See photo). However, the towels were changed and bins emptied after 2 nights. The grounds were almost immaculately maintained. The pool is small but perfectly adequate to cool off. However, I understand the manager is looking to increase the size of the pool. The manager/owner was always about if you needed anything. He was engaging with guests and understood English well. The rest of the staff did not understand English as well and it was difficult to communicate with them beyond the basics of ordering food and drinks. The on-site Yatra restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed every meal we had. All reasonably priced too. We did find the service quite slow on one evening when it was particularly busy. (See separate review) We had breakfast included. It was cooked fresh to order and had lots of choice. Continental, Western or Sri Lankan dishes. Walk in diners were permitted to use the sun loungers but it was still not busy. The Manager did not allow these guests to dine in main building or use pool which we appreciated. The beach is stunning but the sea is quite rough so swimming is not advisable. It was very quiet while we were there but we were accosted a couple of times by locals. They wanted you to go with them to a turtle hatchery or offering to take you out on their Tuk-Tuk. They were not too pushy. We found it best to politely decline and limit engagement. Otherwise they would join you for your entire walk! The only negative for us, was the extremely hard bed/mattress. 3 nights was enough for us! It was that uncomfortable, it would probably deter us from staying here again. This is a shame as it is such a wonderful small hotel, with friendly, attentive staff."

"I came to Saffron and Villa to spend some days at the end of December with my family and friends. It has been an unforgettable experience, the house is absolutely superb from architectural point of view. The staff is always available to meet all our needs and they constantly overcome our expectations: they care every detail to make your stay a great experience. "What a beautiful place surrounded by some amazing wildlife monkeys,chipmunks,Eagles, Iguanas,and many more. The owner was friendly and helpful the staff were very nice.breakfast was nice well presented. Pool excellent very clean and relaxing. Now to a few things that could be improved First no fridge,No kettle, towels need updating as do pillows on bed , The place was clean just these small improvements would be very beneficial to the place. Word of warning don’t take old notes of any Denominations. I must give a massive thank you to the residents tuk tuk driver Nisanter he’s a breath of fresh air I wish the world had more people like him and it would be a better place."
