"I made a same-day reservation and arrived, only to be told the deposit was $1,300 instead of the original $100. It’s not that I don’t have the money; I had been traveling for three months, so my credit limit for that day didn’t reach that amount. Since the room accommodation was prepaid in full, I asked to check in with just the normal deposit, but they refused to the very end. I acknowledge that this is hotel policy, but I felt like it could have been resolved if a manager-level official had approved it, yet they insisted it wasn't possible. What’s even funnier is that when I asked if they could refund me if the deposit didn't amount to that, they said that wasn't possible either. I’ve traveled to 65 countries over four years and used to be a Hyatt Globalist, but this is the first time something like this has happened, and I’m just laughing because it’s so absurd. I had a similar experience at the BVLAGAR Hotel in Tokyo a while ago; back then, check-in was naturally allowed (since I had paid in full), but they let me in on the condition that I refrain from using the Mino Bar. Here, however, they refused to budge. They claim there are cases where same-day reservation guests vandalize property. I really don't understand how that has to do with a same-day reservation at all. I was disappointed that there was so much ****** in such a beautiful country like Australia, and the hotel was disappointing as well. Of course, I doubt Australians care anyway. Considering that the essence of the hotel business is hospitality, the overall attitude is terrible. There is no superficial ******, but their eyes speak for themselves. This is the first time I've left a review after traveling abroad for four years. The location is good, though."

"I stayed here with my senior citizen mom. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable. The facilities were also great—the breakfast had a good selection, the gym was nice, and theres a swimming pool and jacuzzi. The in-house food was delicious too. The only disappointment was the view. 😅 We were expecting something similar to the photos, but unfortunately, that wasn't what we got. I asked at reception if we could change rooms, but we were told we'd need to pay extra for a higher floor or a room upgrade, even as a Shangri-La Circle member. Overall, we still had a good stay because of the excellent facilities and service. I just hope the hotel uses actual photos for each room or floor category so guests know what view they're booking. 😅 If I were comparing this hotel with InterContinental Sydney, I'd choose InterContinental. 😉"

"Almost no view to speak of. Location: Less than a 10-minute walk to Circular Quay. Room Type: 1 bedroom, 1 living room, 1 bathroom. You can request two single beds by communicating with the hotel in advance. The washer and dryer are located near the room entrance, away from the bedroom, to minimize noise. Dining: Breakfast is a small buffet, and each person can order one main dish. The restaurant offers à la carte dinner service; it's not busy, so no reservation is needed. Cons: The overall service was quite cold; no one greeted us when we entered or left. Most of the restaurant staff looked Chinese but only spoke English."

"Nice place to stay. Loved its quaint appearance and decoration. Conveniently located to the tourist spots. Lots of options to eat nearby if you prefer not to eat in their restaurant. Convenience store is close by too. Our Queen heritage room was spacious and clean. However, the heating system was not working properly despite putting it at 32degrees it felt like 18degrees. The room didn’t feel warm enough. Hot water system needs to be checked as on the day we were supposed to leave I went for a shower at 5:30AM but the water never felt hot despite running it for a few minutes. My companion had to skip the hot shower. Highly appreciated the lady receptionist who let us check-in early as we were looking forward to lying down to rest after flying from overseas. Would recommend to friends and family if heater and hot water is not issue to them."
