Hotel Uusikuu

Hotel Uusikuu

📍 Raviradantie 13, Mikkeli
★★★ 8.2 (11 reviews)

"Discusting and outdated rooms. All the places are really really dirty. You don't feel like sitting on the chairs or sofa because they are full of stains. Tv remote is the dirtiest and stickyest ever. Feels terrible to go to sleep to those beds. No adjustable aircon. Really bad, stinky rooms. This must be the worst hostel in the city. They use word hotel but this is hostel. Cannot recommend this experience. Location far from the center."

"During a recent trip to Finland, my family and I spent a lovely weekend at Sahanlahti. This is an idyllic spot on Lake Saimaa, about three hours northeast of Helsinki by car. We loved it. The beauty and stillness of the nature all around us; our extraordinary villa at Elsanranta, with its lovely views, suite, and terrace; the friendliness of the staff; the delicious food; the saunas--all made our stay there a wonderful and unforgettable experience. We would highly recommend a stay at Sahanlahti."

"Decent breakfast, saunas were fine but showers in the room were a bit nasty with dark spots on the wall"

Pistohiekka Resort

Pistohiekka Resort

📍 Pistohiekanraitti 33, Puumala
8.4 (1 reviews)

"A higher-end accommodation in a contemporary hut near the lake. Well-equipped kitchen. Nice bar and terrace in the reception area to relax and watch the sunset. Friendly staff. For the price (almost 200 USD / night without breakfast), the cottage was rather small, with no TV or wi-fi - maybe some people pay extra for digital detox, in which case this is the place. :) No grilling spot either."

Sahanlahti Resort ★★★
"The food ingredients had great potential but unfortunately poor cooking and service ruined the experience. Food was cold and overcooked and there were no waiters so eventually the cook brought our food. Such a shame because the view is lovely and place very cozy."

Huoneistohotelli Marja ★★
"Huoneistohotelli Marja (Apartment Hotel Marja) is situated in the old wooden house which was built in 1882 as a barracks for snipers. Nowadays this old barracks building is renovated and protected. The hotel was opened in 2012. The same owner has Hostel Marja (also known as Hostelli Marjan Matkakoti) in the neighboring house. Home of kind customer service is the motto of this apartment hotel. Apartment Hotel Marja has nice apartments. Each apartment has an own bathroom (a toilet and a shower) and a kitchenette. You find an electric stove, a microwave oven, a toaster, a refrigerator, a water kettle, a coffee maker and dinnerware (tableware) there. Also some cooking oil, salt, sugar, coffee powder, tea bags and oatmeal was available in my single room. They also have twin rooms, triple rooms, a romance suite and a family suite. The family room is separated from other apartments. Totally there are 25 beds in the hotel. Rooms/apartments have an iron, an ironing board, a television and a hairdryer. Pets are allowed in some rooms (fee 15 euros/stay). There isn't any cooling air-conditioning in the house but you may keep big windows open if it is too hot in your room. The walls of the house are quite thin. So it is possible that you hear some noise from other rooms but I didn't hear anything between 10 P.M. and 7 A.M. Thanks to good neighbors. Besides, the bed was very comfortable. So my sleep quality was very good. The hotel wishes silence after 10 P.M. There is a nice summer terrace and barbeque area next to the hotel. There are many activities available there: petanque, badminton, darts, disc golf, Finnish mölkky game etc. The surrounding area is a beautiful old barracks area which is very green. There are a museum and many statues or monuments there. The nearest grocery Store (Sale) is situated less than 300 meters from the hotel and there nearest grocery shop which is open 24/7 (ABC Market Pitkäjärvi) is located 1.6 kilometers from the hotel. The city center of Mikkeli (The Market Square) is situated 1.1 kilometers from the hotel. Distance to Pond Urpolanlampi with a swimming beach, beach volleyball courts and a beautiful trail around the pond is less than a kilometer. In summer a buffet breakfast (8 A.M. - 10 A.M.) is included in the room price: bread, cold cuts, scrambled eggs, meatballs, porridge, pancake, juice, coffee, tea etc. Even mushroom salad which was made of mushrooms picked by the owner was available. During a low season they haven't any breakfast buffet. Instead of it they bring breakfast supplies to the room already in the evening. The reception is open at 8 A.M. - 8 P.M. (Sundays 10 A.M. - 4 P.M.) in the summer. During a low season opening hours are shorter, on weekdays usually at 8 A.M. - 6 P.M. If you don't see anybody in the reception you can press a call button. And if you are going to arrive after the reception is closed you must inform them in advance and they leave your key in a locker with a code lock. Apartment Hotel M"
