"Not sure how this hotel only gets 4 stars. It may be because it doesn't offer room service, or that the rooms only have a shower, but it thoroughly deserves 5* as it is better than many 5* hotels I have used before. It is a short walk from the sea front and beach at Noordwijk aan Zee, which is a lovely little Dutch resort on the coast close to Leiden. The hotel has superbly-decorated and equipped rooms; the staff are lovely; the food impeccable. The car park is a little expensive at €17 a night, but the bus to Leiden (number 20 or 23) leaves from right in front and it costs only a couple of pounds with a tap and go system. The Hague or Schiphol Airport are also right there if you choose not to drive. and bicycles are available via reception (e-bikes too), and a health centre and swimming pool are free to use in the building next door. The restaurant is Dylan's, a little expensive, but very good. The hotel has its own Beach Club right on the sands, which is also a little expensive, but as you might expect from a bar with food on the beach that has been occupied by sunbathers all day, it is very relaxed. The Alexander was a superb base for our week-long holiday on the Dutch coast and I can enthusiastically recommend it."

"Very stylish establishment. Well located close to the beach area in beautiful Noordwijk. We stayed in one of the apartments, ideal for families! Could be amazing, but I feel there are areas the management could improve on. Pros: Absolutely spotless and beautifully decorated. Comfy beds, nice little touches like the reading lights over the beds. Great location. Cons: - No laundry facilities in self catering accomodation. This is a major let down in a beach resort.. cleaning wet sandy clothes is essential! - No breakfast or food of any kind. There's a lovely 'salon' where coffee is available. Would be a nice touch to have some pastries there for guests in the morning and little snacks during the day to accompany the free coffee! - What 'welcome pack?' ONE dishwasher tablet, coffee, tea bags and salt/pepper..disappointing! They also supply toilet paper 'for your first day.' Charging the price they do, I would expect toilet paper for the length of your stay. - Staff encourage as little engagement as possible with guests and direct you to the rather mimimal booklet to answer queries. - Despite the absence of Tvs, apartments were very noisy. Thin walls and ceiling meant we heard a lot from adjoining apartments and that above! Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay! A few little tweaks and this place would be perfect! "

"Plus points: Location great, service excellent, dinner top, breakfast top, hygiene top. If I was better at my foot, I could just book again at the White Raaf. Unfortunately, there are also a few points. The parking space has no GPK place is largely unhardened with many pits, because the unhardened car is under the dust within an hour. The small room for 2 people is very small and can be able to enjoy a nice tour. I personally find this hotel is not really suitable for people who like me are bad on the leg and have to walk with a roller. The shower is at risk, but it's personal. 1 comment on staff, very friendly and the dial occupation very helpful, but breakfast staff does not see when someone needs a hand of help, as far as the pressure is concerned, this was done by one person."

"Spacious room, but in serious need of maintenance. The roof tiles and walls showing signs of leaking roof. In the bathroom it's not possible to have a shower without the whole floor flooding as there is no shower door and the position of the shower head. Spacious bed, pillow had big stain on it though underneath pillow case. Not at all what you expect for the price paid!"
