"Location is average, other things are good"

"I stayed here recently whilst running a school trip for 52 pupils. The hostel is great. Fantastic location to get to Rotterdam or Amsterdam. In a lovely setting right next to the sand dunes. The grounds of the hostel have a basketball court, volleyball court, table tennis tables. Inside there's air hockey and a pool table. Plenty of space to chill out. Including a bar area. The rooms are simple but well equipped with ensuite facilities. The staff were fantastic and accommodating for our students dietary needs (gluten free, veggies, halal. They served up some lovely meals, and packed lunches. Really couldn't recommend this place enough."

"I have stayed at the Vesper three or four times previously, prior to my most recent stay. During these stays, I found this hotel to provide among the best experiences of any hotel where I have stayed anywhere. And I previously gave the Vesper very high praise in a review. I still think it is a very nice hotel, but I think that it has slipped slightly from my previous stays. The main issue was the heat in the room, which did not work. When I discovered that the heat did not work on my first night, the only person to talk to was the night manager, who said he had no idea how the heat worked and that he would make a note of it for the staff who would arrive the next day. In the morning, I spoke to the woman at the desk, and she said she would make sure it was fixed that day. I was gone during the day, and when I returned in the evening, the heat still did not work. So, I talked to a young man who seemed to be working both the bar and the desk, and he came to my room with a woman whom he said knew more about how the heating and A/C operated than he did. The woman tried several things and confirmed that, indeed, the heat in the room did not work. The man ended up bringing a portable heater to my room, which was weak but more or less satisfactory at heating the room. In general, the staff were polite but not friendly, and they did not seem to be as well trained or professional as I had experienced in previous visits. For example, when I checked out, the man at the desk kept calling me "Spiderman" because I was wearing a Spyder brand jacket. Why couldn't he refer to me as Mr. - - -, which would have been more professional? The Vesper tries to be a posh hotel, and in many ways it is, but the untrained/unprofessional staff and the lack of prompt response to a report of non-working heating seem sub-par for a hotel that charges such a high price for its rooms."

"Not sure how this hotel only gets 4 stars. It may be because it doesn't offer room service, or that the rooms only have a shower, but it thoroughly deserves 5* as it is better than many 5* hotels I have used before. It is a short walk from the sea front and beach at Noordwijk aan Zee, which is a lovely little Dutch resort on the coast close to Leiden. The hotel has superbly-decorated and equipped rooms; the staff are lovely; the food impeccable. The car park is a little expensive at €17 a night, but the bus to Leiden (number 20 or 23) leaves from right in front and it costs only a couple of pounds with a tap and go system. The Hague or Schiphol Airport are also right there if you choose not to drive. and bicycles are available via reception (e-bikes too), and a health centre and swimming pool are free to use in the building next door. The restaurant is Dylan's, a little expensive, but very good. The hotel has its own Beach Club right on the sands, which is also a little expensive, but as you might expect from a bar with food on the beach that has been occupied by sunbathers all day, it is very relaxed. The Alexander was a superb base for our week-long holiday on the Dutch coast and I can enthusiastically recommend it."

"Nice rooms but very noisy. A lot of noise disturbance. Hardly slept because of this. They ultimately did not honor the compensation that was offered. Left feeling more tired than when I arrived. Never again!"

"Very nice, lovingly furnished hotel with very friendly staff. Great restaurant and bar area and a lovely terrace. The location is also recommended as it is not directly on the promenade and is therefore a little quieter."
