"Positive: Good location (near the valley station), size of the room, WiFi and TV worked. Negative: Nearly no german speaking, not so clean, very old building. Breakfast buffet: Miserable for the price of Fr. 54.00 for 2 adults and 1 child (14 years). For this price you can expect something different. Orange- and multivitamin juice very watery and without pulp (probably from the tetra pack). Meat/cheese buffet: the same types every day (ham, meatloaf, salami, cheese slices, brie, cu-cumber and tomato slices). Quality of the ham: Cheapest variety (pizza ham) from the vacuum pack. Salami and cheese are also the cheapest products from the supermarket. Salami may have been in the fridge for several days. Fruit salad is a finished product from a can (not fresh); possibly also in the refrigerator for several days. Complaints communicated in writing; was ignored and not answered. Conclusion: Never again (there are enough hotels in Meiringen that are rated much better and are not more expensive)."

"What a wonferful hotel and friendly staff. They really did the extra step to make us feel very welcome and at home. The room was clean, nice and what a fabulous view, we did not want to close the curtains. The little extra details really made a difference, the coffiee machine in the room, the little light that went off during the night if you stepped out of bed etc. Breakfast was good and the food as well. We will come back"
Hotel Dakota
"After a hike, we spontaneously booked a room at the Dakota. The hotel is ideally located within a three-minute walk of Meiringen train station. Check-in was very quick and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The superior double room we booked was comfortable and the furnishings were well coordinated. The coffee machine didn't work and the kettle's cable is far too short, so you really have to try a few things to get it to work. Hopefully this is better solved in the other rooms! The box spring bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. The sanitary area was rather small but everything you need was there. Unfortunately, the radiator for drying the bath and hand towels didn't work. The Hotel Dakota was renovated in 2020. Now that everything is still fairly "new", you can't see it yet...but defects are already becoming visible here and there, which is a real shame. Examples: the radiators mentioned, then the skirting boards, the water damage to the bathroom doors, which seem to be caused by the poorly thought-out shower trays in the small bathroom. There are a few more details... The breakfast buffet was OK. However, the selection was rather poor for a four-star hotel. We thought the option of freshly squeezed orange juice was very good! We found the staff at the Hotel Dakota very nice. We only had good experiences in the breakfast area and at reception. Once again we thought, what would the Swiss hotel industry do without foreign staff. Conclusion: A beautiful hotel, in a good but quiet location, comfortable rooms, very nice staff. For us, that outweighs the few points of criticism mentioned. We would stay here again and can recommend the Hotel Dakota!"

"Excellent location and great stay! The hotel has a perfect location, with beautiful views of the mountains and the valley from every room. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with large balconies where you can really enjoy the scenery. Free parking is a big advantage. The ski lift is located directly opposite the hotel, which is extremely convenient. Ski passes can also be purchased at the reception, making everything easy and hassle-free. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay — we truly enjoyed our time here and would gladly return."

"We stayed at the Hotel Gletscherblick for two nights while skiing and were delighted by its proximity to the gondola lift, the friendly and helpful staff, the uncomplicated atmosphere, and the reasonable prices. A particular treat is the decor in the lobby and dining room. Retro furniture is rarely seen in such authentic condition, as it has most likely been there for decades. The fact that the building is very noisy and the rooms have old carpeting might bother some – but it didn't bother me. And did I mention the fantastic view of the Rosenlaui Glacier?"

"The hotel is beautiful! Within walking distance of the gondola to Haliberg. Very nice staff! We stayed for a week in the hotel with the organization 'Dutch ski weeks'. In the basement there is a nice room to dry your ski gear, then you can walk to the Hasliberg from the gondola in 5-10 minutes. It is a beautiful ski area, not very large, but you can spend a week there."

"The view from the window is very nice. The staff are very nice as well. But the room suffers from the noise from other rooms. If people come back late or wake up early you can hear their movements and talks. I was waked up in the early morning. But what more you can expect in this price."
