They also spoke English, so it was reassuring. The accommodation itself was simple but clean, and each dormitory bed had its own curtain and outlet, ensuring a certain degree of privacy. "Stayed two nights in this hotel located just two blocks from the lake shore. The room was a little dark but comfortable. I was able to use a small kitchen to cook. There is also free tea and coffee pretty much throughout the day. A bilingual parrot is a nice attraction and is a totally free bird. They can organize transportation to Antigua or Guatemala City. All in all good value for your dollar/quetzal."

"The location is wonderful, the hotel grounds are super, there are hot springs. The room is good, comfortable, there are places to store hangers, a comfortable bath. Lots of greenery and flowers, very beautiful. There is a European socket, which is rare in Guatemala. The only thing that does not correspond to all the beauty is the gloomy staff, they respond to requests very poorly. A simple request to pour hot water for tea and give a cup turns into a problem and we see dissatisfied faces."

"14.737059°, -91.158038 On the southeastern edge of Panajachel, close to Lake Atitlan, at the end of an alley off Calle del Lago with restaurant Xocomil on the corner, this hotel offers rooms in a two-storey building and three large villas along a beautiful garden. It is close to the beach front, so noise from beach parties is clearly audible until 10:30 pm. There are plenty of parking spaces behind the hotel and in the garden. The hotel has no bar or (breakfast) restaurant. In December 2024, room 8 (1F) was a simple clean room with a double bed, hot shower, television and fan. No minibar, air-conditioning (probably not needed here) or any other conveniences. Reasonable reliable Wi-Fi reception in the room, close to the reception. We had a comfortable night sleep, but the hotel lacks certain modern facilities or luxuries. Hotel K'amol B’ey is clean basic hotel for visiting Lake Atitlan."

"This was a horrible hotel. Noise night and day. Could hear loud music from across the street. Employees talking and laughing loud at 7am. Bed was hard as a rock. Shower had holes in ceiling. Pillows were so small and old that would never be used in a home."

"I booked a “suite” / room with ensuite bathroom. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable. However hot water in the shower was rather lukewarm. Also, no one came to make the bed / clean for 2 days. There was also a lot of noise from the street going to the harbour. The pool could be heated up considering it was not crazy warm ouside. Net, poor value for money (125$/night)"

"We stayed at Hospedaje El Viajero because it was getting late on my way up the lake. They were willing to accommodate me very last minute, and the room was perfect. It had a good size, not very big, but great for just me and my partner. The bathroom was clean and small but adequate. They provided free drinking water, and our room had a patio with tables and chairs, offering a nice view of another restaurant and music. It's a budget hotel, so don't expect anything fancy, but it was a great price with great staff and a great location. It was a really nice and cozy stay."

"This hotel has private rooms and also contains a shared dorm space or hostel. The owner is very friendly but you need to speak Spanish (limited English). We have never seen such clean and beautiful tile floors. The double bed is comfortable and the private room has a small but functional bathroom. There is a very small TV with cable but only Spanish channels. Location is a bit far from the boat dock for Santa Cruz, San Marcos and San Pedro (about 1.5 miles each way) but it is a Q10 per person tuk Tuk ride to the embarcadero! Even though it's a long walk to the Calle Santander area, the neighborhood is relatively quiet because there are no discos or partying nearby. You will likely be hearing stray dogs barking and roosters crowing at 5:30 AM but we like to rise early anyway. "El Rincon Del Chef," the #1 restaurant in Panajachel is about 200 meters from the front door. Hotel El Sol offers a small but cozy breakfast room and cooked to order breakfasts for a good price. The owner provided laundry service, very nice to return home with a suitcase full of clean clothes! Hotel El Sol may not be for everyone but we found it to be a nice place to sleep while visiting Lake Atitlan. The price is relatively cheap for the quality you receive."
