"Severe lack of maintenance, starting with the room itself: the wardrobe door was falling apart at the bottom, the electrical outlets didn't work, the air conditioning controls didn't work, the mix of old towels was coming apart at the seams, the mattress was uncomfortable, and the breakfast had little variety and poor quality. There weren't enough sun loungers around the outdoor pool. I tried to use the outdoor pool without success because there weren't any free sun loungers, and there was so much grass that it could have had more. The Hotel & Spa is very expensive for the lack of comfort it offers. I do not recommend it."

"Very mediocre hotel for the prices charged. Friendly but untrained staff, presentation as if they were in the pool, sitting on the counter chatting, etc. Necessary products, exaggeratedly regulated, such as: they only put one dose of shower gel and shampoo for two people, they only have one type of pillow. Ponte da Barca, has much better hotels, at more affordable prices and with better quality in every way."

"Stayed in this hotel with a group of friends and it couldn't have been better. The rooms are great with an amazing view over the river, each room has a really pleasant balcony, and refreshingly the rooms do not have TVs so you can actually enjoy nature and just read and relax (my understanding is that TVs are available upon request though). The lady running the place is called Leonor, and she booked a SUP (Stand up Paddle) tour downriver for us - it was really worth it and was a great way to spend a morning. Leonor took care of everything during our stay and was always available for help whether it be booking restaurants, activities, wine tasting etc. I would definitely consider going back as this "quinta" has the perfect mixture of new and modern rooms but a traditional quinta with grand rooms which you can also partly enjoy!"

"A very nice staff at the reception D.Maria Cielo e Rita uns Amores!!! Excellent room cleaning! ...But ... Very large rooms with history and furniture of the noble season,but beds with only 135cmx1.90cm (small) bed and uncomfortable coats for the price you pay! The rooms have no TV!! The lack of air conditioning makes a dry and hot environment nightly,and when windows are opened, the mosquitos dominate (and they were only 23°dia/16°night) imagine in full summer! The pool and grass very well treated,but the surrounding house very badly treated (sud) including the garden full of leaves and related, as well as the tic and pic Nic table and surrounding this place! The Peq lunch for those who describe as superb in Booking....It was very weak and banal!! There are VERY BEST OPTIONS next to and even cheaper!!"

"This gorgeous mansion is a wonderful place to stay to enjoy all that northern Portugal has to offer. You can enjoy the many picturesque villages and monasteries. It is the perfect place to stay to enjoy hikes in Penedes Geres National Park, especially the beautiful Ecovia trail from Sistelo. At the end of the day, enjoy a swim in the luxurious pool with vistas of farms ABS vineyards. The breakfast is excellent. Elizabeth, the chef and housekeeper is warm and friendly and very attentive to guest needs. The owners are justifiably proud of the 20 generations that their family have been stewards of this lovely home and its lands. The nearby village of Ponte da Barca has several nice restaurants and walks along the river. Highly recommended!"

"How fortunate to have discovered this beautiful little hotel. We didn’t know what to expect since it is not easy to get here, but it was well worth our trip to come this little boutique hotel . We thought it was a new hotel, but it may be that the management is very meticulous about keeping it impeccable. Our room was spacious, included a speaker above the bed for music in case we’d want to set a mood, matching towel robes, and a very reasonably priced and good quality breakfast. It is next to a river and lush rolling hills, and a seating area with a view. You can hear the river rushing into whitewater/cascades, songbirds all around, clean air— it was an experience of the senses for us. I think this would be a great place for an intimate wedding, a romantic getaway, or simply to disconnect from everything and have a peaceful stay."

"We were in awe of this home. So much to explore and so much history! Loved the thick granite walls and original wooden doors/shutters with hardware, antiques and displays everywhere, beautiful view, and even a pool. It is situated in a quaint little area by a church and you can easily walk down to the river. The area around Ponte da Barca is absolutely beautiful and fun to explore. The hosts are very friendly and offered a lovely breakfast."
