Hotel Xaloc Playa ★★★

📍 Major, 21, Punta Prima

"We arrived at lunchtime and the lady on reception was very welcoming and we were soon checked in and unpacking our bags. We had a room towards the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden , crazy golf and pool. You could see the sun rising in the morning. Steep steps to the top floor , no lifts at this part of the hotel. Room was comfortable with a large bathroom and shower. My only complaint was the bed was on wheels and moved across the room when you sat up to read , as the floor is tiled . A few beer mats helped to solve the problem . The food in restaurant was buffet style and very enjoyable with a good choice . Staff helpful and kept on top of cleaning tables. Pool bar very reasonable prices for food and drink. Three nights of entertainment while we were there , a trio , a duo with flamenco dancer and a solo artist. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. A clean beach with soft sand just across the road, lifeguards on duty also . Would definitely return in the future"

"We went in the middle of July. It was busy, but not as busy when we left. Food was normal, with plenty of choice. Waiters were fine with drinks. Dining rooms were very warm. Food 8/10. Bedrooms: We had a 1-bed apartment. Cleaned daily. Standard hotel housekeeping. A bit dated, but I kind of liked it. Beds comfy. Shower good and hot. Air con not great, but left on all day with doors shut. Our room was above. Very quiet. Pools: All pools good. Saw the pools being cleaned in the morning. Sunbeds were being taken by early risers, or at night, who knows. Always got a space just. Plenty of drinks and ice creams at the snack bar. Slides for kids were great. Activities good. Still got the Insotel song in my head. Entertainment was standard. The animation team did a great job. Michael Jackson was very good. Again, very hot in the entertainment area. Nearby beach and shops. Airport Transfer 30 mins. Been on numerous holidays over the years. We got this holiday at a great price and think we got a lot for our money. It's pitched as a 5*, but definitely around a good 4*. Overall 8/10. We enjoyed it."

"Tui rated this a 4 star hotel but unfortunately it is really a 3 star. Our shower had quite a lot of mould in it, and the plug hole kept blocking up, and the safe didn’t work despite maintenance having apparently fixed it. The air conditioning in the room was great, but could hardly be felt in the dining area, especially in the first 2 days when it didn’t appear to be working at all, and no air conditioning in reception. Eating was not pleasant as it was so hot and the food, although okay, was repetitive. The place mats for dinner were dirty and stained which was quite off putting. No air conditioning in the entertainment area at all while we were there. Unfortunately as it was so hot this made it very uncomfortable. Also the splash park is not exclusive to the hotel, so although you have paid for an all inclusive stay, you have to pay for any snacks and drinks in the on-site cafe. If you are all inclusive you should be able to have drinks etc as part of your deal. On the plus side the splash park was lovely and very clean and my grandson loved it. We could always get a sunbed with an umbrella round the splash pool, but definitely not round the main pools, with people putting their towels out as early as 7 am. The rooms were cleaned daily and no problem asking for fresh towels, and the cleaning staff were lovely. Despite all of this we enjoyed our holiday but regrettably would not return to this hotel."

"Our second visit and, just like last time it was excellent. Great location, wonderful staff, and lovely food. Our room was great and the roof top terrace and jacuzzi a welcome place to relax at the end of a busy day doing nothing. Very hard to fault so I won't!"

"What an absolutely great family holiday, all of the staff were pleasant and helpful, top marks to the chef for looking after our grandson who has food allergies, nothing was to much trouble for him. Great location, lovely accommodation, good selection of food and drinks, would defiantly go back. This was my wife and mine 3rd visit over a few years, never disappointed."

Hotel Xaloc Playa ★★★
"Our second visit to this wonderful gem. Set close to the beach and the bus stop round the corner, it's an ideal location. The atmosphere at the Xaloc Playa is always so welcoming and friendly. The staff work tirelessly to ensure our stay is so enjoyable. It is like meeting up with friends again. Delicious food and plenty of it. Rooms cleaned daily. Rooms are also a decent size, with balcony. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool. Singers some evenings after dinner. All very good. Not a big hotel, smaller, friendlier and with a personal touch. Also really good value. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful place which holds a special place in our hearts."

Insotel Punta Prima Resort ★★★★★
"A really beautiful resort - spotlessly clean and the best air con in rooms (which was a godsend considering how high the temperatures climbed). Buffet had a good variety although the only seasoning appeared to be salt! The drinks however were definitely not the best despite claiming to be branded and the beer constantly went flat due to being served in short plastic tumblers ‍♀️."

"Check-in was straightforward, and the lady on reception was lovely and welcoming. The lack of air conditioning was a major issue. There was no A/C in the lobby, it had been broken in the restaurant all week, and there was none in the evening entertainment areas. With temperatures consistently in the mid-30s, this really needs addressing. Our adjoining family room made a brilliant first impression. It was spacious, clean, and having two bathrooms was a real bonus. Unfortunately, both showers were unusable as the water constantly fluctuated from scalding hot to freezing cold without warning, and the water pressure was very poor. We reported this to reception and were assured it had been fixed, despite us being in the room all evening. It definitely hadn’t been. When we raised it again, we were simply told there wasn’t a problem and the receptionist shrugged it off. We spent the entire week unable to use the showers properly and had to rely on the shallow bath for our family of five. On a positive note, the kettle in our room didn’t work initially, but it was replaced quickly. The food was okay but very average for an all-inclusive hotel. We actually chose to eat out on two evenings, and there are some excellent restaurants along the beachfront. There were no themed nights, and the menu was largely the same every day with only minor variations. By the end of the week, we were really struggling with the lack of choice, and I wouldn’t consider us a particularly fussy family. The drinks system was probably our biggest frustration. On arrival, you’re given a card which has to be exchanged every time you want a drink in a plastic cup. This makes your all-inclusive wristband feel completely pointless. We found the whole system inconvenient and unnecessary, and it’s one of the main reasons we wouldn’t return. The pool snack bar was also disappointing. It mainly offered a few biscuits and pre-made sandwiches from a small hatch. Burgers and hot dogs could be ordered, but we tried them once and found them inedible. The pools themselves were lovely and very warm, which our children really enjoyed. The splash area was excellent. However, the sloped entrance into the shallow end of one of the pools was extremely slippery and could be a safety concern. Sunbeds were another issue, with most being reserved by towels before 10am, so finding one later in the day was almost impossible. The beach was beautiful and only a short walk away, which was definitely one of the highlights of the holiday. The location is excellent, being only around 20 minutes from the airport and close to plenty of restaurants and shops. The only downside was the number of mosquitoes in the evenings. Overall, we wouldn’t return to this hotel because of the drinks system, repetitive food, broken air conditioning, and unresolved shower issues. It’s a shame, because the location is fantastic and, without those problems, we would happily have considered coming back."
