"I booked the rooms online and called the hotel directly to confirm we had at least one ground floor room (my 82 year old mother recently had hip replacement and they don't have an elevator). When we arrived, the parking lots were empty. The desk person asked if we could wait 15-20 minutes for him to get our rooms ready (why weren't they already?). The indoor courtyard (which was always the draw for us) had all the lights out (this is where the ground floor rooms are located). We asked about the ground floor room and he said they didn't have any available (obviously no one else was using them). As my mom could not navigate the stairs, we opted to cancel the reservation. We ended up going to two other hotels that were booked (it's Heritage Days weekend) and ended up with the last room at the Holiday Inn Express who gave us a discounted rate due to our circumstance. We've stayed at this hotel, formerly "The Chief" for over 50 years for family and class reunions, weddings and funerals.It's a shame it's no longer a viable option."
