Namib Desert Lodge

Namib Desert Lodge ★★★

📍 Hardap 01, Hardap Dam, Sesriem

"The staff are exceptional and it is a great place to relax a few days! I did the Sossusvlei expedition with Kosta and highly recommend it. I also booked a transfer from Windhoek with them and it was all very smooth. It made a few days in the desert very easy and relaxing."

Sossus Oasis Campsite

Sossus Oasis Campsite ★★

📍 At the entrance gate to the Namib Naukluft Park, Sesriem

"I believe this is one of the nicest campsites. It has a private bathroom (running hot water), a designated kitchen area, and plenty of shade. We stayed there after our visit to Sossusvlei and enjoyed the sunset over the mountains. Note that the campsite is located outside the inner gate, so you can access attractions in Sossusvlei an hour later than if you were staying at an inside campsite."

Desert Quiver Camp

Desert Quiver Camp ★★★

📍 On D826 / C27, Sossusvlei, Sesriem

"Excellent glamping. The cabin is very spacious and clean, well-maintained, and very beautiful. There's an outdoor area with a table, a kitchenette with a refrigerator, and a barbecue; the campsite sells firewood if needed. The staff is very helpful and friendly, even offering local information. You can have dinner and breakfast at the Sossusvlei Lodge, just a few kilometers away, with a rich and varied buffet in both cases. It's definitely an excellent option for dinner. They can also provide you with a packed lunch to take with you to Sossusvlei, a very convenient option and highly recommended. Regarding the location, it's very close to the park entrance, so it's convenient. Very good value for money."

Sossusvlei Lodge ★★★★

📍 D826, Sesriem

"The location is good and the view is undeniably beautiful, but the room configuration is not worth it at 2600 a night. The price/performance ratio is not high. The room has no sense of design and is not warm. It is so ordinary that I have no impression. The staff only greeted the white people when they met two or three people, and did not even smile at the Chinese. Only a short boy introduced us and warmly welcomed us at dinner. The other service awareness is not as good as other hotels I have stayed in Namibia. I had a bad impression for the first time. The lady who fried eggs for breakfast was impatient with us and had a very unhappy face. A white person came later, but she took the initiative to greet us how r u When we checked out, we informed the front desk of our dissatisfaction and we will never stay at this hotel again because we needed four rooms and we booked this hotel because all other hotels were fully booked."

Desert Camp ★★★

📍 Farm on D826, Sesriem

"We enjoyed our stay at the hotel! If you're traveling by shuttle Go2Nsmibia and don't have a car, there are not many places to stay if you want to visit Sossusvlei. This hotel and Desert Quik Camp are among the cheapest places to stay near the national park gates. Pros: - Near the entrance to the national park - Amazing desert scenery - Kitchenette, BBQ and patio - Good bed, linens, powerful shower and air conditioning - Tours and transfers can be booked here - Clean pool and minibar - Grilled meat, bread and other items available for purchase The prices are reasonable, and the firewood is plentiful. Cons: - If you arrive without a rental car, you'll need to bring your own food, as the restaurant is located on the grounds of Sossuusvlei Lodge, 5 km across the desert from this camp. Breakfast is also served there! So, if you don't have a car, the breakfast option is pointless. - If you're going on a tour, you'll still need to get to Sos. Lodge and pay for the roundtrip transfer again (75N$ per persion one way). - You'll need a N$300 deposit for kitchen utensils. - Bottled drinking water is not provided in your room; commercial water is expensive, so it's best to bring your own. - There were stir fry vegetables in the "grill" section. The vegetables turned out to be shredded and not suitable for grilling, and we bought two whole packs of them :("

The Elegant Desert Camp

The Elegant Desert Camp ★★★

📍 D854, Sesriem

"This campsite consists of 10 independent houses nestled on a mountainside (see last picture). We watched the sunset from the campsite in the evening and gazed at the Milky Way at night. Dinner was included with the stay (see picture). The open-air area was lit by fairy lights, allowing us to enjoy a traditional local dinner while stargazing. We and our best friends considered this the most special and wonderful night we stayed during our trip to Africa."

Tsauchab River Lodge

Tsauchab River Lodge ★★★

📍 Farm Urikos No 4, Maltahohe, Sesriem

"Such a beautiful place…very well groomed ,extremely tidy and clean. The location is decorated with metal scraps, uniquely turned into art pieces is the absolute highlight. The camping sites are very well equipped which made us feel very comfortable. Unfortunately the food was a big big disappointment.Over priced, too tiny portions ( only a garnish of salad instead of a greek salad) and not worth the money at all.It would be nice if they would work on that,as it really downgraded the whole experience."

Le Mirage Sossusvlei

Le Mirage Sossusvlei ★★★★

📍 District road C27, Sesriem

"The resort and rooms are beautiful but the service was extremely slow and food was mediocre. We waited almost two hours for lunch when there was only one other couple waiting, and our food was wrong on arrival after forgetting one persons meal completely. The dinner service was also very slow and the food was bland and one person had a hair in their dish as well. We weren't asked what level of doneness for our meat and the steaks came out anywhere from rare to medium well. While the resort is beautiful I expected much more for the price we payed. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless it was about 30-40% cheaper and even so it would just be for the atmosphere."

Namib Desert Lodge ★★★
"From the time you are met in the car park with a cool drink and a friendly smile till you depart this is a really great place to stay. Extremely friendly staff, great food prepared by an expert chef, relaxing at one of the two sparkling pools with a cool cocktail or a G & T , what a pleasure. Go on the informative and fun sunset drive or do a self guided walk in the dunes."

Sossus Oasis Campsite ★★
"The managers of this camp site cracked the code!. One of the tourist sites in Namibia that understand what travellers need and do a good job of providing it. Great campsite (as described by others) & small shop with most things you might need (even random things like cable ties & trailer plugs) The only reason one would opt for the mediocre NWR campsite next door is the earlier morning access to Sossusvlei not available to day visitors, but imo overrated, if you doubt me look at the number of sunrise photos of Sossusvlei/Deadvlei on Tripadvisor(Spoiler alert - there are almost none). Only room for improvement I would say is better wifi at the shop (you are very much limited), but at least the wifi was working (which is not a given in the Namibian desert). Also be careful of jackals, we suffered an opportunist successful raid on our cool bags while we were sleeping."

Desert Quiver Camp ★★★
"We liked the hotel. The only thing was that there was no WiFi, but there was none in the entire area because the optics were cut off. The rooms have kitchens and barbecues, but there are no dishes except cups. There are not even teaspoons. Hot water in the shower starts flowing quickly. The room is cozy and beautifully decorated. There is a small pool and a bar. It is a good place to relax after exploring the dunes. If you take a room with breakfast or dinner, know that the restaurant is located on the territory of another hotel."

Sossusvlei Lodge ★★★★
"The room was clean and tidy, the dinner was rich, the environment was special, and it exceeded my expectations. The only drawback was that only the bar had a signal, and the room did not have Wi-Fi. There was no signal, and occasionally a text message could be sent for several minutes, which was equivalent to a network disconnection. The bar closed at 9:00 pm. However, there was no signal in the Red Desert Scenic Area and even on the road. It was windy at night, and the sand hit the glass door, making a little noise. Special thanks to Ctrip customer service. When I placed the order, I used the default date. After payment, I found the error and communicated with Ctrip. The customer service was very proactive in contacting the local agent and helped me change the date to the next day for free."

Desert Camp ★★★
"The room was spacious. The beds were too short. We are 5’9 and 6ft but both our feet hung out over the end. The sofa is the most uncomfortable item of furniture we have ever experienced. God help any 3rd person in the room that may have to sleep on it. The cushion was actually ill fitting and kept slipping. We had to sit on our beds. The reverse cycle air-conditioning system was not working correctly. We had to set it to 28 degrees Celsius to heat the room. It kept cutting out during the night and displaying an error message, which reported to reception upon our departure. The toilet and the bathroom did not have a sealed ceiling. Meaning it was difficult to contain the heat within the bedroom and difficult to contain the smell and the noise from the toilet from the bedroom. We self-catered and used the outdoor kitchen, but it was freezing eating our meals at the only table which was outdoors. We would not choose this option again. Views were specular."

Tsauchab River Lodge ★★★
"Tsauchab offers beautiful, clean, and comfortable accommodation. The Lodge is child friendly and the kids had a blast. The owners are hands-on, friendly, and fascinating, providing excellent service. It’s their dream brought to life, filled with unique handmade sculptures and décor that tell a story. The restaurant food was outstanding. From here, we visited Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, just over an hour’s drive away. The only downside was the condition of the roads in that area. But we loved every minute!"

Le Mirage Sossusvlei ★★★★
"More suitable for couple than for families with children, at this price the hotel should provide a better breakfast, more generous dinner servings, internet in the rooms or in other common areas than just the reception, and a place to hang your clothes in the room. No wardrobe and no shelving and the cold dining room that felt like camping and the poor vegetarian offer didn’t really match our expectations that came with the high price tag. The quad bike experience could have offered more than a bottle of water at the sundowner spot, and be better targeted for young guests not having used a quad before."

"Lovely lodge close to Sossusvlei. The dinners are delicious- come hungry as they are multiple courses. Really enjoyed trying the local game. Highly recommend the sundowner drive- Daniel was our guide and a great kick off to our stay. The night sky is amazing with no light pollution- make sure to save time for stargazing."
