GGuest UserThe room looks exactly like the photos on the homepage, and it was spotlessly clean. The front desk staff were professional and friendly. The bathroom and vanity area were frequently cleaned, and the overall layout and flow of the hotel were well-organized and standardized. It was much better than I expected, truly exceeding my expectations.

GGuest UserThe room was quite clean and well-equipped. I stayed for four days and three nights, and it's conveniently located near People's Square and the Line 2 subway station, making it easy to get around. Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street is also a short walk away, which leads straight to the Peace Hotel and The Bund. I was very satisfied with this trip.

JJingmozhuliunianI specifically booked this old Shanghai villa guesthouse, expecting a vintage-style renovation, but it turned out to be genuinely old! The house is ancient, the furniture is ancient, and it still retains many old artifacts. There are also signs of use from what feels like decades ago. It was a great experience, allowing me to soak in the gentle, slow-paced life of Shanghai. Nanchang Road is right downstairs, making city walks incredibly convenient. It's a fantastic spot for photos, though my ultimate destination this trip was Lhasa, so I didn't bring many nice clothes, but I did get some good street shots. It even fulfilled my wish to cycle, something I couldn't do in Qingdao, haha! Very good, very good indeed~

BBokifpThis is a great and very comfortable apartment with a great view and great location accessible to the metro line 2 and 9. Very easy to reach all locations in Shanghai. The host was very available at any time to help us with any questions, orders (staff, food, taxi...) when necessary 24/7. Thank you very much. I can suggest this apartment for all family travelers with kids who are looking for a quiet and nice stay in Shanghai.

GGemiNOTthe1Not even a 15 minute walk from the closest metro station (地铁站). And there's so many restaurants nearby, including Shanghai cuisine. Plus, rideshare bikes are available (i.e. 哈罗, **, 和滴滴自行车). When I walked in, I was greeted by a very nice auntie who helped me at the front desk. She was very patient with my mediocre Chinese speaking skills and politely inquired about my travel plans. The elevator is in plain sight in the entry way, which is VERY handy if you just walked all those 15 minutes from the metro station or if you have heavy luggage. It also does not require you to swipe/scan a room key. The second floor is one long hallway. And the doors allow you to either type in a code or tap/swipe your room key. I never used the code, just the tap/swipe method. I highly recommend this hotel if you have mobility issues because of the lack of steep stairs, elevator access, and hallway layout. Just be careful hopping into the bathroom because of the large gap. After entering the room (see the pictures I attached), the vibes were pretty nice. Sleek, modern, and clean. I liked the floor level separation between the entryway and the bedroom area as well as the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it has two pairs of slippers, which managed to fit my big feet (US Size 11-11.5 / China Size 46-47). However, as you can see in the images provided, the toilet is very close to the sink, with little space for you to spread out your legs. But I did not care because the water temperature changes so fast and you don't have to wait like 10 minutes like at so many other hotels. The toiletries provided in the room include one small bottle each of shampoo and body wash as well as two small rolls of toilet paper. Plus, they have two body towels, two hand towels, one medium towel, a hair dryer. There is more than enough storage space for one or two people. There's a closet with shelves and hangers in the bedroom area. Then there's a refrigerator, and then so much cabinet space in the entry area. If you need air conditioning or heating in the room, there is a white controller that connects to an AC unit affixed to the ceiling and upper wall area. The window curtains allowed for a deep dark sleeping experience, which I absolutely loved. The washing machine works well but has a small interior, so you may need to do multiple loads. If you don't understand Chinese, the labels correspond to different settings, which I recommend consulting. The one I used (春秋 / Spring and Autumn) was perfect for me when I was there in February. My only real critique is that the windows did not shut all the way and I had no idea of how to fix the issue. I forgot about it until the last day, though. Also, be sure to wear earplugs since the street noises are insanely loud if you have a road-facing room. I hope that this review gives a decent bit of context for even just one person!

GGuest UserI was staying in Shanghai for Disneyland and wanted a reasonably priced hotel that’s near a Metro. I found the Hanting Hotel on Google, but it says the nearby Pusan Road station is ‘permanently closed’ which isn’t true at all! The station is fully operational so Google is wrong. As a traveler, use exit 2 of the Metro, because that’s the only one that has an elevator to the street. Nobody wants to schlep 2 suitcases up the stairs. Once you check in and stow the luggage, use exit 4 of the metro on your next trips to avoid crossing streets because Chinese drivers are *******. The staff at the Hanting are really nice, but don’t speak English. So pre-load Google translate in advance and download Chinese Simplified language. Type your message to them in English, Google will translate it and the staff will reply on their phones using a translator. It works. And btw, Google does not work in the PRC which is why you have to do this ahead of time. My room was advertised as non-smoking, but clearly a smoker used it before because the evil smell of cigarette smoke hit me the moment I walked in. Luckily the windows open in the room, so the smoke smell was mostly gone after 2 days except for the bathroom. So the air filter in the bathroom must be jammed with smoke particles, because it never went away even though housekeeping sprayed disinfectant. The rest of the room became acceptable. The air conditioning unit was thankfully working, so I kept the room at a nice 21 degrees Celsius. Some hotels disable the A/C in the cooler seasons and force you to accept a centralized temp, so I was happy that Hanting allowed me to set the temperature of my own choice. The room was generally nice (aside from the cigarette smell) but I was really puzzled about the lack of a dresser or a closet or anywhere to store clothing. There is also no clock in the room and no refrigerator or access to a microwave. The amenities were standard. Wi-Fi (the staff has to help you set this up), hair dryer, US compatible outlets. The best part: free breakfast! Westerners might be dissatisfied with just toast and OJ but Asians would love the breakfast spread of vegetables, sausages, fried rice, steamed buns, corn, steamed sweet potato, congee, tons of toppings and flavorings for congee. The surprise was full access to a washing machine and dryer for FREE! The machine provides soap, so all you need to do is load and press the buttons. The staff is willing to help. So after a long day at Disneyland, just load up the washer, take a shower, go back down and use the dryer and everything is fresh for the next day at Disney. I suspect that the hotel is not truly aimed at Western tourists. It’s a little off the beaten path, and it seems all of their guests are Asians. I am mostly satisfied, but damn, that cigarette smell.

GGuest UserThe hotel is conveniently located, with shared bikes right downstairs and close proximity to famous attractions. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, which is really handy. The front desk staff are very friendly, and while the room is clean, it's a bit small, probably best for a solo traveler.

AAnxious but kindGreat stay! Very convenient location, affordable price. We are hopping around China, and choosing affordable hotels for the night's rest with convenient locations. Only one thing that can bother sensitive sleepers: the railway right next to the hotel. But as a sensitive sleeper, I found comfort in that slow train sound. Very helpful personnel, clean, nice, spacious rooms. 🫶🏼
