Svatma - A Luxury Heritage Resort ★★★★★
"Don't be fooled by the website photos—the reality of Svatma is far worse. We booked two rooms for two nights during our visit to Thanjavur last week. While the property itself is a beautiful 100-year-old heritage structure, the rooms are poorly maintained. Charging ₹14,500 per room per night is completely unjustifiable given the subpar room conditions and dismal service. Upon checking in, we had to call the front desk repeatedly for basic amenities that should have already been provided, including hand towels, a dustbin, and toiletries. To make matters worse, the hotel manager, Ms. Sindhu, was utterly incapable of handling customer issues. On our second day, the water supply was completely cut off. The hotel claimed monkeys had damaged the tank pipes—a plausible issue, but the management's response was abysmal. From 5:00 AM onwards, guests were left struggling. The staff offered zero proactive assistance, failing to provide basic solutions like buckets of water or access to a common restroom until we explicitly suggested it ourselves. The worst part was their sheer lack of accountability. Instead of resolving the situation or offering a genuine apology, management flatly told us to vacate our rooms as they could no longer cater to us. Ms. Sindhu and her staff expressed no regret whatsoever, choosing to completely ignore us as if we weren't even there. We had booked this stay based on a personal reference without reading recent reviews. Looking back at their review page now, it’s clear that severe mismanagement and poor guest treatment are recurring themes. Do not make the same mistake we did. I strongly recommend booking Hotel Sangam instead—it's just a 5-minute drive away, far better managed, and reasonably priced."

"Deshadan chola was one of the charming resort to stay during our trip to tanjore temple visit, we are sharing the review because of the fact that the resort is located in a calm place feel like a home at village and also over all stay was excellent with all facilities , price was pretty good for the facility offered, the rooms are quite spacious ,with neat amenities , the food was really nice , services as well , the staffs were very positive, polite and helpful ..We used tandem cycle,bunny feeds was awesome. Moreover, we were really comfortable with the stay , Full marks for the team ."

Breakfast was similarly inadequate with offering of fruit and bread. We did get an omelette when we asked but it was not offered. Overall not a pleasant stay"
