"Royal 7 stars is a centrally located historic building in Totnes. The good things about it is that it’s extremely dog friendly. The beds are big and comfortable with nice bedding. But there’s a problem with soundproofing. Being such an old building there is a lot of noise from the plumbing and other guests. I didn’t sleep a wink due to a guest above me walking around all night and at one point I feared he would come through the ceiling which ruined my stay."

"Stayed there few times over the years, however under new management. Delighted to say the wonderful Paul and Gayle are now running things- nothing too much trouble, very friendly and already giving the place some tlc. It’s a lovely location and hopefully will be back soon."

"We had a small but comfortable room with ensuite & a good shower. The breakfast is generous & good quality; the bacon was especially good. John & Sandra are delightful, friendly & helpful hosts. We were able to eat outside on the terrace which was lovely. Recommended. "

"Always love going to the Cott Inn for a meal. It's a lovely thatched hotel and restaurant, and is normally busy, so booking advisable. We were a party of 4, and we all enjoyed our meals. Good menu choice, and a good atmosphere. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Will visit again, no doubt. "

"We booked a night because we were going to a gig in Totnes. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. When we got to our room we were pleased that we had plenty of supplies of tea,coffee,milk,hot chocolate etc . Room was clean and tidy but wouldn't want to spend more than a night there as it was quite compact "

"An excellent late lunch in a beautiful riverside setting. The menu was intriguing and lived up to expectations in terms of quality, taste and overall deliciousness. Service was relaxed and friendly. We shared the snack appetisers, followed by the lamb and hake - both generous portions. Just opted for ice creams for dessert ( as quite full) but they were lovely too."
