📍 Sovetskaya street 28, Ulan-Ude
★★★ 8.4 (6 reviews)

"The heating system at the Barguzin Hotel in Ulan-Ude was a major highlight. The radiators in the room consistently provided warmth, maintaining a comfortable temperature above 22°C even in temperatures as low as -20°C outside. No extra blankets were needed at night, which was especially beneficial for guests who are sensitive to the cold. However, the bathroom facilities were somewhat lacking – the hotel provided communal bathrooms, which likely involved waiting during peak hours. While the showers were equipped with thermostatic showerheads and disposable toiletries, the space was rather cramped, making it slightly inconvenient for guests with large luggage. If your itinerary focuses on city sightseeing and privacy in the bathroom isn't a major concern, this hotel offers good value for money; however, for those seeking convenience, we recommend choosing a different room type or bringing a portable toiletries kit. We were very grateful to the hotel for arranging the last room available, a "last room," where we could sleep peacefully! If Ulan-Ude is your first city in Russia, we recommend exchanging currency at the bank behind the Lenin statue in the city center. It's much more convenient that way! Also, thank you to Ctrip for their coordination!"

"The location is superb!!! It's right on the pedestrian street in the city center, within walking distance of several nearby museums. There are supermarkets and souvenir shops on the pedestrian street, and restaurants, cafes, bookstores, and all sorts of other shops across the street—so convenient! The room was great, very clean, and nicely decorated. It felt quite new, not large but fully equipped. As you can see from the pictures, there are no windows, only a skylight, which makes it a bit more cost-effective. However, the skylight provides excellent natural light; it's up to you whether you can accept it. The downside is that the soundproofing isn't very good; you could hear people speaking Chinese next door… The pictures show a rather retro-looking restaurant, but when I went, they said it was closed. I don't know if it's closed during the off-season or permanently. You can reserve breakfast in advance at the front desk; it's inexpensive but there's no hot breakfast."

"Perhaps it was the timing of our arrival - early through rush hour traffic, but the hotel does not feel like it is near the city centre! Once you get your bearings, however, you realise that everything is close at hand! The rooms are large and comfortable with a fully stocked mini bar, a great shower and robes and slippers to access the indoor spa! We stayed twice in quick succession and the second occasion we believe we must have upset the cleaning staff as they appeared to refuse to replace our toilet paper! The 9th floor restaurant was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you could also access the rooftop (outdoor) restaurant from there, too! A good place to stay."

"I entered Ulan Bator by bus land from Ulan Ude. I went to the inn while nervous at the first time I entered Russia, but I was relieved at once by the staff saying "Connichiha". It is about a 10-minute walk from the Dragon Bus stop from Ulan Bator, and a 1-minute walk from Pedestrian Street, which has supermarkets, restaurants and souvenir shops. Location is very good, facilities are clean, shower water pressure and hot water are no problem at all I was able to eat breakfast in the shared kitchen and spend it slowly. The staff is very kind! It is really a recommended inn!"

"It's a shame we were fooled by the photos and booked this hotel. It's surprising there are so many good reviews... We arrived tired from another city, so we didn't see everything right away. The hotel is of very low quality, from the exterior and interior to the girl at reception. There's a smoky smell upon entering (even though there's a "no smoking" sign in the room). The only thing that makes it a junior suite is the large room size. The photos don't match reality. Here we go: there are no tables or armchairs, just a sofa by the door with a lousy bedspread and one table by the wall. The chair has dirty upholstery, covered in stains. The bed has broken slats, the springs are sticking out, everything creaks. The bedding is dirty!! The bedspread on the back is all covered in white stains... I'm afraid to imagine what caused it... The windows overlook the courtyard, on the first floor, so it's a shame someone got in. Very uncomfortable, thank goodness there are curtains. The shower stall is old, dirty, and rusty, with a bunch of wires from the water heater hanging overhead—I hope it doesn't electrocute anyone. There are two large towels, none for hands or feet. The towel rack is terribly rusty, it's scary to even look at. There's trash under the bed. There was no promised breakfast; upon checkout, we were told, "You should have let us know you wanted breakfast so we could prepare it, but it's served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m." For that price, like any decent hotel, breakfast is negotiated upon check-in, either with coupons, or at least there should be information somewhere about when and how it's served. We finally went to bed—there's a long drive home tomorrow. The hotel administrator talked terribly loudly on the phone until late, even on speakerphone; you could hear everyone and all their swearing. Plus, the kids were running around and screaming. After 11 a.m., like clockwork, everything finally stopped. The girl probably thinks it's okay to be noisy before 11, especially in her hotel. But people come to relax (not everyone goes to bed until after 11), and hotels are supposed to be quiet at all times. Basically, they ruined the whole mood and impression of the trip."

"The room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was slightly less, the environment was overall comfortable, the restaurant on the 9th floor had a good atmosphere, all ladies. The curtains can be thicker because it is too early in May to affect sleep. The sound insulation is very good, the lock of the door is not easy to use. The passport left the registration and did not remember to return it. We took a taxi to the airport to remember the passport. Fortunately, a friend sent it to the airport or the plane was delayed."

"We were just passing through and stayed overnight. The shower was shared, for both men and women. Everyone shared the same shower. The water drained poorly, and we had to stand in a puddle. It was convenient that there was a sink in the room. We saw cockroaches when we turned on the lights at night. It was not very pleasant. There was no elevator. There was no soundproofing, plus loud airplane noise. Apparently there was an airport nearby. The experience was mixed. 5 out of 10."

"The hotel liked it. Everything was clean and neat. The room with the air conditioner (was a sunset if the windows were opened, it would not be possible to sleep because of the discotheque until 3:00 a.m. and so the condei saved). Breakfasts are diverse and delicious."

"Stop with her husband for 1 day on the road from Mongolia to Moscow. At the time of booking I thought the photos improved through Iishka, but this is the rare case when the hotel is actually even better than the photo. Comfortably, cleanly, beautifully very, comfortable mattress (after a week in the camps in Mongolia it was especially important). We took a room with our soul, but even the shower zones in general look super thoughtful and beautiful. The girl on the resepi is very welcome. We used the laundry (2 washing 800r), vaporizer, common kitchen area (she was on photo) especially pleased. Wibe is not a dining room, but a restaurant. Arts on the walls, beautiful furniture, clean beautiful dishes in access, two thermopods, a big refrigerator. The location is also a boiling, everything is in step availability. Prosperity owners! We will be in the city, necessarily here. Even I didn't want to leave."
