Cayley Mountain Resort ★★★★
"We stayed there during one of the coldest weeks in June and had NO proper hot water for 5 DAYS. Only 2 people out of 5 could shower each day, the rest of us froze. We complained daily. And guess what? Nothing was done. Hendrick (Resort Manager) and Paseka (Front Desk Manager) were completely useless. They didn’t care, didn’t act, didn’t resolve anything. To "compensate" us, they sent a ridiculous WhatsApp offering a head and shoulder massage for 2 people. WE WERE 5! That’s not compensation — it’s an insult. We replied… and they’ve ignored us ever since. This was supposed to be a holiday. Instead, we spent our time chasing after staff who clearly couldn’t be bothered. We’re seriously angry and disappointed. 💬 And no, we don’t want another “sorry to hear about your experience” response. We want accountability and proper compensation. 🔥 Avoid Cayley Lodge. If something goes wrong, don’t expect help — because their management just doesn’t care. #TravelWarning #CayleyLodge #Drakensberg #HolidayFail #CustomerServiceFail #NeverAgain"
Three Tree Hill Lodge ★★★★
"Could not fault anything whilst we were here. The food was excellent and the staff were so attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone. It was a long slog to get here but certainly worth the journey. A big thank you to everyone who made our stay so memorable."
Little Switzerland Resort by Dream Resorts ★★★★
"We loved our 6 night stay. All the staff are so friendly and attentive from the minute you drive through the gate. We had the breakfast and dinner option and were pleasantly surprised each night with the excellent meals and variety. Our Mountain View room was extremely comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. We loved the hikes that start at the resort. No need to drive anywhere to do hikes. We can’t wait to go back and highly recommend this resort!"
The Nest Drakensberg Mountain Resort Hotel ★★★
"Accommodation was excellent. The food was great. The staff was always friendly. The bed slept great and the room was clean. The view was stunning. We had an awesome time there and cannot wait to go back again."
Nauntons Guest House & Wedding Venue ★★★★
"Everything about the place was excellent from the time I made a booking ,the staff has been nothing but friendly and helpful ,the rooms are in an immaculate condition ,the food was overall tasty with their huge portions ."
Mont Aux Sources Drakensberg Resort ★★★
"I booked three chalets (from Australia for family reunion in SA after 3 years) for 27 -29 December 2024 which turned out to be a disaster. Late check in (4-5 hours late), rooms were not cleaned, and toilet was not working. No wifi. I almost wanted to book an additional night or two, however did not. There was no offer to compensate the poor service and mismanagement of this facility, nor refund for delays and poor facilities. It's a pity that such a beautiful location is mismanaged and misrepresented. Trust and service will take time to re-build. Your future is not good."
Cathedral Peak Hotel ★★★★
"We decided at the last minute to sneak away from the madness and CPH was perfect as usual. Our favorite go to place for a reset and a recharge. The Staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are perfect, and then there is the fantastic food. Thank goodness for the beautiful walks. We will be back again and again and always. CPH never disappoints. Thank you"
Royal Hotel Ladysmith ★★★
"We went for a Christmas Lunch the food was so tasteless, the only thing I enjoyed was the starters. Whooo the buttered chicken was terrible. The only thing that was better on their main meal was the pork and lamb the rest was horibble. I just wasted my money what Ana awful. Christmas I had😔"
Memra Guest House ★★★
"We booked in for 2 nights on the 23rd and 24th of September. Our host Magda was warm and welcoming even at a 23h00 check in. She was so obliging and walked down to the guest room with milk, tea, sugar and coffee in hand to check us in. The room, kitchenette and bathroom was exceptionally clean. We were never asked for payment at any stage of our stay. I would highly recommend Memra Regards Charlton "

Spion Kop Lodge
"WE WENT THERE TO CELEBRATE OUR 56TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. OLD BUILDING BUT EXCELLENT AMBIANCE AND NICE SHADED PARKING. THE ROOM WAS HUGE AND THE SHOWER WAS GOOD WITH NICE HOT WATER. THE BEST PART OF OUR STAY WERE THE EXCELLENT DINNERS WITH STEAK THE FIRST NIGHT AND LAMB CHOPS THE SECOND NIGHT COOKED TO PERFECTION. LOVELY THREE COURSE MEAL. WE FURTHER ENJOYED OUR OUTING TO THE SPIOENKOP BATTLEFIELD WHICH IS ABOUT 30KMS FROM THE LODGE."
Aha Alpine Heath Resort
"Friendly staff, clean and safe environment. Excellent for conducting business activities with minimal distraction"
Montusi Mountain Lodge
"We had a wonderful stay at Montusi Mountain Lodge and would definitely come back. The location is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Northern Drakensberg. It is a perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature and explore the area. We especially enjoyed the walks and trails around the property and the peaceful atmosphere of the lodge. What really stood out for us, however, was the exceptional hospitality and friendliness of the entire Montusi team. Unfortunately, both of our daughters became sick during our stay, but everyone was incredibly kind, caring and helpful. We felt very well looked after, which we especially appreciated while travelling with children far away from home. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, the food was very good, and the whole lodge has a warm, relaxed and personal atmosphere. Despite our girls not feeling well for part of our stay, we have very fond memories of Montusi. A beautiful place with genuinely wonderful people, highly recommended for families and anyone visiting the Drakensberg. We would definitely return!"

"I would like to express our greatest appreciation to your hospitality over our short period we stayed with you. Once again, all compliments to everyone there, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, appreciated the gardens, absolutely enjoyed the pool and we felt at home from the start. It is a pity that they do not fix the road to the hotel as it is a distance to get there on the gravel road. "

Nambiti Plains
