"The room had a odor and was dusty. The remote was nasty along with the microwave and tub. They need to do a total upgrade. Rust on everything. We cleaned the tub before showering, then put a towel down to stand on."

"The Baer House Inn is an absolute treasure that exceeded all my expectations. If you appreciate the 1800s, you will truly love this place; it does not disappoint. The attention to detail in the entire house is incredible—easily 95% authentic 19th-century; furniture, curtains, and an extensive library filled with period-appropriate books. It felt like walking onto a movie set, but with a perfect balance of modern comfort. The only 5% of modern conveniences, like the comfortable mattress, pillows, linens, towels, bathroom, WiFi, Bluetooth music speaker, small fridge and TV, were seamlessly integrated and very much appreciated along with impeccable cleanliness. The staff truly made the stay memorable. Latanya, the manager, was exceptional—the most pleasant and attentive host I have ever encountered. I wanted for nothing; she took care of everything from the moment I arrived. I was also greeted with a smile by Johnny, the groundskeeper/maintenance guy, who was very welcoming. I have specific food allergies, and Latanya and Larry the chef went above and beyond to accommodate me. Larry made me an outstanding breakfast, including a fresh fruit cup and perfect over-easy eggs on top of delicious sourdough bread, making sure everything was safe for me to eat. If you have the privilege of meeting Latonya’s son, Jaylin, you will never be the same. He is 100% happy and just makes you happy, a true joy to be around. The only negative thing I can possibly say is that I don’t get to live there! I had to leave, but I will go back as often as possible. There is still hope for the world with a house and staff like that."

Halpino

"This modern building is an adjunct to the lovely Duff Green Mansion, which is about 2 blocks away and the place that breakfast is served. Halpino has six rooms on two floors. Mine was a small room with no closet but a nice bathroom and shower. There is no staff present and the small lobby offers only complimentary coffee--no cold drinks or snacks. Guests are responsible for locking the outside door upon leaving. It's something of a rundown neighborhood (as is most of Vicksburg, frankly) so security is dependent on the attention of your fellow guests. Everything was clean, although I had to phone to have my room cleaned, which happened late in the afternoon of my second day. It is way overpriced for what you get, but what you get is a clean, well appointed, adequate room. Would not stay here again, though."

"Stopped here to sleep while in a road trip. This seems to be an older hotel, and it could use some touch ups, but overall the place is clean and comfortable, and the rooms are spacious. The staff is very nice. I checked in late, the clerk on duty, I believe her name was Destiny, was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here if I'm ever in the area again. My only complaints are that the facility needs to be fixed up a bit, and the light from the microwave display is too bright (silly, but it did disrupt my sleep a bit). "GREAT hospitality. Old South at it's finest. Met some friends and family there. Joe and Macy were very accommodating and gracious. Second time there. They were informative about the area. Plenty of outside seating on the veranda. Love this place!"
