We finished our visit to Weibao Mountain pretty quickly, so we spent a good amount of time relaxing at the hotel. They provided free tea and there were books to read, making for a very comfortable stay."

"First of all, from the perspective of someone from a top-tier city like myself, Weishan is definitely worth visiting. It has a slow pace of life, yet still boasts modern amenities (I'm just calling it that). This particular courtyard is an old house located in a small alley, not facing the main street, so it's very quiet, but not far either—just a 10-meter walk to the door. The courtyard is rustic, the rooms are all quite spacious, the owner is polite and friendly, always ready to answer any questions, and the smart home features throughout the house made everything feel comfortable. Although I only stayed at this one guesthouse in Weishan and have no comparisons, I was very satisfied with my stay."

"The hotel is too noisy due to its street location, making it unsuitable for a hotel. Those needing a quiet stay should avoid this place. The car noise from the street is extremely disruptive, especially in the early morning and evening! I asked about this upon check-in, mentioning my need for quiet. The front desk said the room was on the side of a side street, so it wouldn't be too noisy and the windows were soundproof. I also asked if I could change to a quieter room closer to the street, but the front desk said suites were no longer available for upgrades or changes! This didn't solve the problem at all. In the end, even with the windows closed, the bed was directly under the air conditioner, and it still wasn't soundproof or quiet enough. It was also stuffy with only one window for ventilation! Another bed faced the toilet directly, and the hallway outside wasn't soundproof either; people talking and walking outside were very noisy and disruptive. Since I checked in late, I didn't dwell on it and just planned to make do for the night. The so-called smart speaker automatically announced the time at 7:00 AM and played the news, which startled me while I was sleeping! There were two different styles of towels, the mouthwash glasses weren't clean, the wooden floor was uneven and bumpy, and although the suite was marked for 3 people, there were only two sets of toiletries, towels, and water cups... Too many complaints to avoid."

"This solo trip, Quanli Homestay was truly the biggest surprise. I just stumbled upon it on Xiaohongshu, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, the place was spotless, and the toiletries were high-quality. The best part was how incredibly warm and hospitable the owners were, making my trip to Weishan Ancient City truly unforgettable (I'll conquer the entire Weibaoshan hike next time, haha!). Plus, they had welcome sticky rice cakes and Bao'an tofu pudding, which were both super cute!"

Formerly known as Menghua, Weishan is the birthplace of the Nanzhao Kingdom. In the early Tang dynasty, the Mengshe Zhao tribe rose here, eventually uniting the six Zhaos to establish the Nanzhao Kingdom—creating Yunnan's first unified ethnic minority regime. Centuries of royal heritage and cultural legacy are all embedded in this tranquil little town. The overall design of the hotel is great, the service is satisfying, and they also offer complimentary coffee. Thumbs up for the latte art, which added an extra touch of comfort to our trip!"
