"My husband and I stayed here Valentine's Day weekend and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place! The Inn is gorgeous with rooms decorated old style but upgraded with gas fireplaces (some rooms have them) and comfy beds and walk in showers. The staff was so nice and helpful and the tavern and restaurant is beautiful with farmhouse style decor, lighting and a huge fireplace. They had live music on Saturday and we ate there again on Sunday (there are not too many restaurants to eat in Newfane, but we liked our two dinners at 1882 tavern in the B & B). It was very romantic, quiet and exactly what we were looking for! We would definitely stay again when we go back to Vermont."

"When we walked in to the front office it smelled musty and very strong of cigarettes. When we went to find our room the people outside made us feel very unsafe, there were just standing and staring at us. If you were alone I definitely wouldn't stay here!! We were on the second floor and the balcony has soft wood and felt very unsafe to walk on. Windows to the stairs leading up had been smashed and not replaced, there were holes drilled into walls and not taken care of. Pillow cases were dirty, bed was extremely hard, room smells, the liner between the sheet and bed was full of hair, there were stains on the chairs, the list goes on. Really too much to write. One of our party came back to their door open to their room and no one from the front desk to anyone else we saw there gave a crap. They were pretty much like "Oh well! We will tell maintenance." Don't stay here!"

"We chose the Doveberry because it had good reviews but I think those reviewers must have pretty low standards. On the plus side the bedding and sanitary ware were clean and it’s in a great location. But overall the room felt grubby & tired and despite paying the going rate for a decent hotel this was run with minimal overheads. No hotel staff as such, just a local who pops in (he was very friendly and helpful), the continental breakfast was laid out to help yourself (no one visible) - grocery store bags of bagels, paper plates and plastic cutlery that you throw away into a big black trash bin afterwards and paper cups filled pre-made waffle mix (presumably one cup per guest). On the second morning there was no breakfast at all and we had to find somewhere else. We contacted the hotel owner but no reply."
