The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort
9.2 (1,701 reviews)

The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort ★★★★

📍 29-1 Toyakoonsen, Toyako

"Today I checked into the Toya-koh Hananoyu Hotel in Hokkaido. The hotel is right by the lake, so it's quite convenient for a stroll along the shore. However, due to the protruding third-floor platform, the lake view from rooms on the fourth and fifth floors isn't great. The hotel's service attitude was very mediocre. The bath towels in the room even had yellow stains (see pictures four and five). After speaking with the front desk, they just casually told me to come back and get another one (which would be a hassle if there was a language barrier). The 'one night, two meals' package included breakfast and dinner, both buffet-style and quite ordinary. I'd recommend dining at a nearby restaurant for dinner instead. For breakfast, you could grab something from the convenience store across the street. All in all, if I ever go back to Lake Toya, I won't be choosing this hotel again."

"The hotel room was comfortable, clean, and tidy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room rate was excellent value for money. Taking the cable car up to the highlands offered breathtaking views."

Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace
8.9 (1,585 reviews)

Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace ★★★★

📍 21 Toyakoonsen, Toyako

"The room shows signs of age, with broken walls and a toilet bidet that doesn’t fit properly into the toilet bowl. The curtains are too thin to block sunlight, especially since it’s as early as 4 am in Hokkaido during summer. The buffet dinner offers a wide variety of food, but the quality is just average. There were many people staying at the hotel, so we had to be accommodated for an early dinner at 5:45 pm. Overall, the experience was not great."

"The service was excellent and customised to you. The moment you step in, you are treated to keep your shoes ans to wear house slippers, making it feel like home as you move around the hotel. The lounge that overlooks the calm Lake Toya was especially nice. The private onsen was great with a little dressing table area , the feel like the public onsen amenities. The dinner and bkfast sets were excellent, every dish was a wow. The food is worth the experience."

📍 Izumikawa 13, Rusutsu

"No late checkouts - 10am is strict otherwise it’s 4400 per hour. Use of onsen after checkout is 1500. Buffet gets packed out at 6pm. Good ski in ski out facility."

Toya-Onsen Hotel Hanabi
8.3 (388 reviews)

Toya-Onsen Hotel Hanabi ★★★★

📍 6 Toyakoonsen, Toyako

"A dated place. Old fashioned tap mixer and door set. Toilet very small and the door cannot even open fully. Worst, there's still a step to it. Have to be very careful, specially with the wet floor after the shower. They claimed it's a mountain view, it's just trees actually - cannot even see far! Bed was uncomfortable with only a small pillow. The floor at the men onsen is very disgusting! It's a far cry from the photos here. Don't recommend at all!"

Hotel Grand Toya

📍 293-1 Toyamachi, Toyako

"Pros: Very good service. Staff are nice, Roomy, quiet, and nice designed room. Cons: no catering nearby, very remoted place, take 20-25mins to nearest main street, esp at night, dark, narrow driveway, single lane with bidirectional car."

"Great location, top notch facility especially the ski centre and the private onsen. Only negative feedback observed is that the limited capacity of the restaurant may not be able to cope with the volume of guests especially if the hotel is running full and during breakfast time."

"We used this hotel for our last trip as a couple before the baby arrives, and also as a gift to celebrate my husband's work anniversary. We decided to go on this trip on short notice, just three days before departure, so we didn't do much research. However, everyone was incredibly helpful and gave us great recommendations for nearby places, making it such a wonderful trip that we even considered extending our stay! 😭 I've traveled a lot, but the staff's hospitality and service were by far the best I've ever experienced! I don't drive much, so I apologize for asking for so many transfers! 💦 Next time, I want to bring not only our baby but also my parents! It's become such a favorite place! The washing machine was available, and the large public bath was private and uncrowded – absolutely fantastic! I also loved the shampoo and other amenities; I hope they'll sell them someday! 💓 We'll definitely come back! Thank you so much!"

The Lake View Toya Nonokaze Resort ★★★★
"I was a little conflicted about my experience here. I was not sure if I would come back to the hotel given the high price point didnt really match the service. To begin with we were left alone at the check in kiosk to complete the check in on our own. There were so many staff everywhere and I noticed other staff were assisting other guests attentively. Then after completion of check in we noticed three small cups of welcome beverages beside our luggages. We have to ask the staff if they were prepared for us or not as nobody was there to serve us. That is really bad by the standard of the hotel. Might as well not serve the drinks. Dinner wise we were initially very impressed by the food spread during the dinner buffet. However we were so thirsty after the meal I guessed the kitchen had been quite generous with msg. It was also disappointing for the room windows to have stains / streaks as they affects the beautiful view of lake toya. So at the end of the day I guess it was the matter of expectation not being met as we really looked forward to the most expensive stay for our Hokkaido trip."

Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace ★★★★
"For the view, it is good however the breakfast doesn’t meet its standard. As for the room itself, it is still okay though it is a relatively old hotel. The amenities wise, it is not as good as the other hotels in Hokkaido that are of the same levels. If you prefer a more quiet hotel, this hotel may not be your preferences as they have quite a fair bit of tour group"

"Once we arrived at the hotel in our rental car, a staff was there to greet us and brought our luggage into the hotel. Checking in was a breeze. The room is big and it comes with a private onsen. The view of the lake from the room was magnificent. The cleanliness and service is top-notch and the japanese breakfast was excellent."

"Location: Ski in Ski out Beautiful Red Runs, trees areas Nice and wide slopes Rooms: Clean but old Desperate for renovation Onsen: There are 3 choices The best renovated looking one is the North Wing 6/F Vale also uses the same onsen Breakfast: Octoberfest Crazy amount of people Need to go super early Food Ok Ambience old like a canteen Lunch/Dinner: The mall looks like it used to stuck in the 80s with not many restaurant choices Better off go to the restaurants just outside of hotel Ski Lockers: Handy but very run down looking Overall: We paid USD390/night but didn't enjoy the overall experience and the tour group like canteen feel at breakfast. It gives a very 80s vibe that wasn't very appealing. Will definitely not come back."
