"This was by far the best and most comfortable hotel of my entire trip, highly recommended! The room was incredibly spacious with a small balcony offering distant views. The front desk staff were exceptionally responsible and patient; they used a translator to explain things to me sentence by sentence when I didn't understand. Absolutely top-notch service! If I ever get the chance to visit again, I'll definitely stay here. The hotel offers a shuttle bus service to and from Gora Station, but you need to pay attention to the schedule. If you follow navigation and take the 'H' bus to Kowakien, you'll face a very tiring uphill walk, even though it looks like a short distance on the map! If you can manage the bus schedule, it's best to go one stop further to Tenyu Station. The hotel boasts a rich variety of facilities including hot springs, a sauna, a swimming pool, a gym, and a ping-pong room. The lobby also has plenty of tourist brochures, some of which include discount coupons – definitely worth exploring!"

Hakone Kowakien Hotel

"This was the first hotel we booked for our trip, and it didn't disappoint. The service was warm and attentive, the room was spacious, and the breakfast and dinner buffets were plentiful. The natural environment around the hotel is truly beautiful. When in Hakone, hot springs are a must, and across the road, the Kowakien Yunessun spa resort has two areas that hotel guests can access for free and unlimited times. The only downside is that transportation isn't the most convenient; we took a bus from Odawara Station. It would be easier if you were driving or renting a car. However, this is truly a hotel with excellent value for money."

"Hotel is old classic. I believe it was a very grand hotel back in the days. Very kid friendly with aquarium and animal petting farm within walking distance. Beautiful lake. Room feels warm as aircon can’t be controlled and have to open the windows. There’s a table tennis room and onsen."

Hotel Green Plaza Hakone

"The hotel photos included pictures of a swimming pool, but it turned out to belong to a different property, which made me feel misled. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of choices. Since our room overlooked a construction site, we had to pay extra to upgrade to a different room."

Ajisai Onsen Ryokan - Award Winning Private Open Air Onsen

"This is one one of the best Ryokan I’ve stayed at in Japan! The customer service is superb, you can message them on Trip.com about any questions and they reply almost right away. The room was so clean and smell so nice (some Ryokans have a damp smell if not cleaned properly). However this Ryokan was extremely clean! The private osen booking system works really well as you get to choose 3 different types of osen and able to enjoy it privately with your loved ones. It is definitely worth the money spent because you will get a great experience there. Only down side is the location, it is a bit far from Gora station."

Laforet Hakone Gora Yunosumika

"This was our second time booking with this hotel. It is one of the most luxurious places we've stayed. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the toiletries available in the room are great quality, the buffet breakfast is tasty and varied. The private bath on the balcony was really nice after a long, cold day (although it was a little too hot for me to stay in as long as I wanted, wish we could adjust adding in a bit of cold water). If we're ever in the mood to relax again in Hakone, we'll look at booking here first!"

Hakone Ashinoko Hanaori

"The hotel is new and well operated. We have booked with breakfast and dinner buffet. There are various kinds of drinks provided, including whisky, wine, beer, soft drinks and fruit juice, worth for trying, but there are limited choices of food. The view of the room is perfect as you can see the lake and the cable car station without any obstruction from your balcony. The hot spring spa at the hotel is wonderful, with indoor and outdoor portion and outside the hot spring, there are kimono that you could choose to dress during your stay. There is a private spa room but it’s full during my stay so we could not try it."
