With a 3 minutes drive you get to Avis, a calm beautiful villa, with a supermarket where you can buy the basics. There are restaurants nearby but you should have a car to get there."

"Disappointed, as the experience is far from what is shown on social media. Starting with the bad: - The rooms with no window in the bathroom don’t have sufficient air extraction. There is an unbearable smell of sewage during the night. The cleaning ladies do a great job, but after showers the smell always comes back (there are similar reviews stating the same). - The hotel hosts large events without warning. It happened to us at the same time as a wedding reception. Infernal music until dawn, impossible to sleep. Guests talking loudly near the rooms without any staff control, making the dogs bark. - Outdoor pool dirty and cloudy. In 5 days of stay, the filters didn’t work once. - Indoor pool freezing, colder than the outdoor one. They say it’s “having problems.” Clearly, these problems are recurring, because there are complaints about the same thing in reviews from months ago. - Gym didn’t have a single weight and the treadmill wasn’t working. - When we arrived, they showed us the restaurant menu and we made a reservation. The next day, they decided it would be a buffet without telling us. The buffet food was repeated after just one day. - Photo of the hotel has horses and they describe that they have activities, they just forgot to mention that the horses are 1h away from the hotel. The good: - Location - Friendliness of the staff Not to be repeated."

"I don't normally write reviews but feel that I must in this case because I booked through the love holidays site and all reviews were excellent. I did find it odd that transfers weren't included in a package deal but put it down to the rural location. We were stressed on arrival due to problems at the airport and a missed taxi booking so when we arrived we went to the bar for a drink. The service was awful. We asked for two beers. After waiting 20 minutes in a bar with only a handful of people we received the wrong drinks. Eventually it arrived but trying to order another was painful. In the end we ordered multiple drinks so we wouldn't have to wait. There was a coffee pod machine in the room that doesn't work. No milk in the room. I ordered a cappuccino at the pool bar but there was no milk. The staff have their backs to you and ignore customers. The food in the restaurant is only labelled in Portuguese and all the food is cold, even when coming straight from the kitchen. I asked at reception where the hotel supermarket was as its on the site map but I couldn't find it. On the website it says supermarket and local shops 1 minute away. This is untrue, it doesn't exist. I asked about taxis or hire cars or excursions. I was told there were none. When I asked about walking to the local village, I was told its 'very dangerous'. It's not at all and thank goodness we did walk to town as theres not alot else to do at the hotel. The lake is beautiful, although I had to walk along the road to find an access point to it. Nothing is explained, communication is poor and the menu at the lounge bar and pool bar is limited. Food at the a'la carte restaurant is good, although there is no atmosphere, you feel like you are in a sterile environment and service is slow. The louge bar doesn't open until 5pm and the pool bar shuts at 6ish. I think both bars should be open all day, although I don't know where all the tourists go as the bar is never busy. We did manage to hire a car eventually from the next town but only after speaking to some locals who stayed one night. The staff are ill informed. For a five star hotel the staff needed to do so much better. Please consider when you book this hotel that you could well be stranded!"
