Longyan Hotels with Balcony

A serene and charming inn in a lovely village. We stayed 3 nights but most people stay 1 or 2. Needless to say, the tulou are incredible. The proprietor, a 26th generation local, is very helpful and responsive. He gave us a map of the village, explained the ”rules” of self-guided tulou tours (e.g., if the front door is open, you may go in and look around the ground floor), and arranged a driver and itinerary during our stay. He could predict our needs, wasn't pushy at all, and made us feel welcome. Fair prices. The inn itself is in a tulou, so expect stairs and people walking through the courtyard. It is in the countryside (think chickens in the AM); we enjoyed the slow pace and quiet evenings. Delicious homestyle local food cooked by the proprietor's sweet mother. Eastern and Western breakfast, coffee available. Laundry and detergent, too. A memorable stay for our family of five. Exactly what we had hoped it would be

It's a bit strange; it claims to be a family-friendly hotel, yet it lacks bed rails. Other children's amenities, however, are quite complete. As a five-star hotel, looking at customers while speaking is basic, right? The receptionist, Chen Xiaomei, was expressionless and had a terrible attitude; she didn't even look up when I spoke to her. After checking in, I wasn't satisfied with the room type and asked Chen Xiaomei if I could pay for an upgrade. She didn't even look up and simply said there were no rooms available. I checked Ctrip, and there were still many rooms available. Clearly having rooms available, yet refusing to allow customers to pay for an upgrade and failing to communicate with customers is extremely incompetent. This service is worse than a 50 RMB restaurant down the mountain. My takeout arrived, but I wasn't in the room at the moment. I told the front desk I'd deliver it in five minutes. Three minutes later, I returned to the room to find a robot waiting at the door—I was helpless. The front desk really seems like a makeshift operation. I found a huge ant on the bed. The doorman, cleaning lady, and restaurant staff were all very friendly. I've also seen several complaints about the front desk on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform). It hasn't improved after all this time; maybe the front desk staff are all people with connections.

I hitched a ride from Yunshuiyao Scenic Area and found it much quieter. I originally planned to stay one day, but because of the beautiful scenery, I stayed an extra day 🤭. I went to the Tulou King first, and then to the Tulou Prince Scenic Area. The guesthouse was cozy and clean, and the owners were very welcoming. Superb! I came alone this time, but I will definitely bring my family next time. Since I hadn't finished exploring the scenic area, the owner thoughtfully carried my luggage to the security booth at the exit. Then I explored at my own pace. There are buses to Longyan and Yongding just 50 meters across from the scenic area entrance. The owner even checked the times in advance so I wouldn't miss my bus. Nice, warm, and clean. I hope the owner's business prospers! Here are some bonus tips for independent travelers: 1. Yunshuiyao felt more crowded and had a stronger commercial atmosphere. I first visited Yongding Tulou King, located a bit higher up on the mountainside, because there weren't many other buildings around. So I went to the Prince Tulou Scenic Area, which is a bit lower down and felt quieter; I personally preferred it there. 2. There are individual electric carts for rent and sightseeing buses for purchase within the scenic area, which are convenient for leisurely exploration. 3. There's a morning market stalls within the scenic area; early risers should check it out. I highly recommend the passion fruit stall across the river from Yangji Winery. Auntie's fruit, small ones weighing 3 jin and large ones 5 jin, is super delicious! I hope she becomes popular and her business improves, but I also hope she doesn't raise prices after she becomes famous 🤭 4. The food and grocery stores in the village and scenic area close relatively early. For a night owl like me, it feels like there are hardly any shops open after 10 PM, and I can't buy anything. So everyone should definitely prepare some snacks in advance, just in case haha 5. The scenery here is amazing, and the guesthouse is very clean. Pictures are attached. I hope this helps those who need it. It seems that after September, there will be round-trip buses from Meizhou, Guangdong to Yongding from Yongding Bus Station. It would be more convenient if friends from Guangdong came to visit, hehe 😁 Lastly, I wish the owner great success in business, and I'll come again next time 👋

The room was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. The only downside was the pillows were too soft – one was flat, two were piled high – but thankfully I only stayed one night. It was fascinating to fully experience the century-old charm of the Tulou, with its uneven stairs and creaking corridors. Because the Tulou elements have been maximized here, even though it was the off-season and not many people were around, you could still hear footsteps at night. Light sleepers might want to consider this. Breakfast felt very ceremonial, and it was great for photos whether you were on the ground floor or in the corridor. Tips: 1. As this is accommodation within a scenic area, you need to buy an entrance ticket. Private cars can only park in the villager's parking lot in front of the guesthouse after 4 PM. 2. The commercial atmosphere in the scenic area isn't too strong yet; the villagers' lives are quite authentic, and the environment is very natural. Be sure to use mosquito repellent and wear long sleeves, especially at night. There are always small, unknown flying insects that will stick to you. 3. You might see termites inside the guesthouse, even though they've treated it. After all, with earthen walls, there are always gaps around the beds where they can get in. If this bothers you, bring disposable bedding.

The room was just okay, and the service was pretty subpar. I'd booked thinking there would be a performance on-site for an immersive experience, but when I arrived, I was told the show had been moved to the scenic area and didn't even include the entrance ticket. For over 1500 a night under these circumstances, it felt outrageously expensive! However, the Yongding Tulou scenic area itself was still enjoyable during my stay in China.

This stay was really a surprise! From the beginning of the get off the bus, I felt full of intimate, the front desk check-in was fast, the room type was very good, highly recommended. The room was spotless, the bedding was soft like a cloud, and I slept super heavy at night. The breakfast shop at the entrance of the hotel has many types to choose from, and the boiling water is really delicious! It is only three minutes away from the ancient city of Changting. It is convenient to go to attractions and business districts. Next time you come to live here, you must have five stars!

During my trip to Yongding Tulou, I chose to stay at Tujiawan Hotel, and overall, it was a practical and reliable accommodation experience. The hotel is located near the Tulou scenic area, making it very convenient for those traveling by car. Driving to various Tulou attractions takes only a short time. The room was thoroughly cleaned; the bedding was clean and neat, and the bathroom was dry. The overall cleanliness gave me peace of mind. The amenities were quite complete. The air conditioning worked reliably for both cooling and heating, and the hot water supply was plentiful and fast. The Wi-Fi signal was stable, and the bed was the perfect firmness for a good night's sleep. There's an elevator in the public area, and a restaurant downstairs, combining dining and accommodation – very practical for tourists. The front desk staff were friendly, and the check-in and check-out process was smooth. They responded promptly to any issues and provided simple information about nearby attractions without being overly pushy. The atmosphere was simple and comfortable. During my trip to Yongding Tulou, I chose to stay at Tujiawan Hotel, and overall, it was a practical and reliable accommodation experience.

The inn is located on the main road 30 meters away from the entrance of the scenic area and is easy to find. It is a small inn with spacious and bright rooms, clean and tidy beds, and complete bathroom facilities. There is a large earth building opposite the entrance of the inn. It is very beautiful, especially at night. When the lights are turned on, it is very beautiful. There are performances in the earth building at night. I was lucky enough to see the fireworks. I was very happy. The boss is very enthusiastic and warm. They also have catering services in their store. I stayed at his house for a day and had three meals there. The food was delicious and it felt like home. This inn has convenient transportation, is economical, and has thoughtful service. It is trustworthy and deserves a five-star rating!

After comparing many options, the hotel I booked was a pleasant surprise. The river view was absolutely stunning, facing the Tingjiang River with a wide-open vista, offering views of the Eight Happiness Tower and the beautiful covered bridge. It was incredibly close to all the scenic spots; the best restaurants were just steps away, and the snacks on Shuidong Street were all authentic – I regret not trying more! To see the beautiful Jichuan Gate at night and watch the drone show, there was no need to squeeze into a crowded taxi; it was just a 10-15 minute walk through Shuidong Street. The hotel service was also very attentive and responsive. While not the most luxurious hotel, it was definitely the most convenient. The breakfast selection was quite extensive, including freshly ground soy milk, refreshing mung bean soup, and various Tingzhou snacks, which my child enjoyed.

A very satisfying stay experience. This homestay is quite large, with a large parking lot and restaurant. The location is very good, a few steps away from the Tulou Prince Zhencheng Building. The exit of the scenic spot was 600 meters from his house. We didn't let the car in the scenic spot until 4 pm. We parked the car in the parking lot next to the exit (free of charge). The proprietress drove to pick it up in time and was very enthusiastic. The boss introduced us to the tour route. Some villagers were drinking tea and chatting with the boss, and the boss's family was very good. At around 5 o'clock, we drove the car to the downstairs of the villa, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The proprietress burned a hand, caught chicken on the mountain, fresh vegetables picked in the field, and the kitchen was clean. After dinner, go to Zhencheng Building to watch a light show and a movie on the floor. If you walk about 2 kilometers from the entrance of the scenic spot to Zhencheng Building, you don't have to take the scenic car and pay the parking fee to live in this house, which saves money and effort. It is a very recommended homestay.
