"This guesthouse might not be luxurious, but it's incredibly clean and tidy. It meets the basic needs of skiers, offering a drying room and laundry facilities (washer and dryer) at a reasonable cost. It's conveniently located, just a 5-7 minute walk from Hakuba Goryu, making it easy to transfer at Escal Plaza for the Hakuba Valley Shuttle to other ski resorts. Plus, it's handy for visiting the hot springs at Escal Plaza. It's very friendly for skiers without a car. The price is fair and reasonable; there were no special price hikes even during Chinese New Year. A special mention goes to the staff, who are friendly and welcoming, always trying their best to assist guests of different nationalities. The only slight drawback is the soundproofing isn't great (though I believe this is a common issue with guesthouses in Japan)."

Amazing
態態度旅行I absolutely love this hotel. I'd definitely stay there again. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The onsen was excellent. A few days here in the winter would be a real treat.
AAmanda-Ng-Lovely hotel in the middle of Hakuba. Location is a little secluded and without a car, it takes some effort to get to the city or around. We were happy to stay and chill at the hotel though. Opted for half board (Dinner provided) Super convenient with the ski rental on site, and shuttle buses to ski resorts provided.
Onsen: newly refurbished and amazing!
Breakfast and Dinner : was pleasantly surprised by the dinner provided it was a 6 course dinner Jap-French inspired. Had lovely meals every evening.
In house ski rental : it’s good that there is one onsite. However the service was less than desirable.
Rented a snowboard and requested for regular stance, the young guy provided a goofy stance set up.
I only noticed the next day, after bringing it back - and the same young guy was not at the shop. Approached the concierge where the staff then very impatient and frustratingly fixed it for me..
Transport to the ski resort: asked the staff to help book us a taxi to get to Nagano station when we were leaving the next day. Their taxi company was full so they said they couldn’t do anything. We then asked for alternatives, the concierge suggested a shuttle bus to Nagano station, but shortly after said it was not possible as the hotel shuttle didn’t start that early. The staff just seemed abit unwilling to help, and also unclear about how guests leave the hotel. To future travellers; Prepare beforehand - book a taxi / bus in advance and don’t expect the hotel to help
__WeChat41020****Dear Mr. Nakamura,
I would like to take a moment to commend your front desk staff member, AWO, for her excellent service during our stay at Courtyard Marriott Hakuba.
From check-in to check-out, she was consistently helpful and professional. In particular, she assisted us with booking a bus and later arranging a taxi, always handling our requests with efficiency and a warm attitude. Her support made our stay smooth and enjoyable.
Please kindly pass on my appreciation to AWO. Thank you and your team for the wonderful hospitality.
MMidlifeMilesWonderful Stay at Garden Pension Obogurgl
We had an excellent experience at Garden Pension Obogurgl. The location is perfect—just a short walk to the Hakuba Goryu lifts, which made getting on the mountain super easy every day. The pension itself is cozy, clean, and peaceful, with a lovely garden that adds to the charm.
Our room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of space for ski gear, and the communal areas had a relaxed, homely vibe. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with local tips and transport advice.
We especially enjoyed being able to walk everywhere—whether it was to the nearby convenience stores, local restaurants, or just strolling among the beautiful pine trees. The large cherry blossom tree out the front added a special touch to the peaceful surroundings. If you're after a quiet, scenic, and welcoming place to stay in Hakuba Goryu, Garden Pension Obogurgl is a fantastic choice.
DDoudou333333I initially considered booking another hotel, but reviews suggested the dinners were all Western food and of mediocre quality. However, I stumbled upon Hotel Hakuba, and reviews praised its excellent breakfasts and dinners. Since we were staying in Hakuba for five nights, good food was crucial for us. I'm so glad I chose Hotel Hakuba. All the staff were incredibly welcoming, and there was a free shuttle service from the JR station. The hotel lounge area was beautifully decorated with flowers. The rooms were much larger than they appeared in the pictures. Dinner was incredibly lavish and delicious, and breakfast had a wide variety of options. There were free shuttle buses to all the tourist attractions. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is close to the JR station, Oide Park, and Snow Peak. There's also a large supermarket nearby. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hakuba.
LLY888The hotel was cozy and close to happo-one resort, the happo bus station, and a few ski/snowboard equipment rentals.
I stayed in a traditional tatami room - I enjoy sleeping on the mats with just a comforter but there were mattresses available in the closet for those who prefer it.
The best part of my stay was the customer service. I had to drop some luggage off before check-in to hit the slopes, and when I returned, not only was my room ready for me, my luggage was taken up as well.
In the evening another staff member enthusiastically help me set up the ironing machine as I needed to quickly steam a shirt, and provided recommendations on places to eat.
Highly recommend a stay at great value
GGuest UserCome to Hakuba Village Iwadake to see the autumn leaves. The air is fresh and there is a sense of open space. The place to stay is very warm and the landlord’s meticulous reception allows us to rest and regain our strength. Next time we will come to experience the good snow scene.
DDanggebojiThis place boasts an excellent location for anyone coming to Hakuba to ski. It's just a short walk to the Happo-One bus stop, making it super convenient to get to all the different ski resorts. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond, offering detailed ski information, equipment rental recommendations, and even helping with transfers. This kind of thoughtful 'insider guide' really made the trip much smoother and hassle-free.
🍱 Cozy & Clean
The rooms are simple but exceptionally clean and tidy, and the beds provide great support – which is crucial for recovering after a day on the slopes. The common areas are immaculately maintained, and the kitchen is fully equipped. Spending evenings in the living room, sharing skiing experiences with fellow skiers from around the world, was honestly the most memorable part of the whole trip.
AAnonymous UserGood, the buffet was delicious. Clean and hygienic. Transportation is a bit inconvenient, mainly because it's a bit far from the Happo Bus Station and JR Station, but it's very close to Gongdola, which is good.
