Amazing
11102665161The hotel has a small house across from the fish market for guest registration, where you wait for a small boat to take you to the island. I'm not sure why no one informed us about this after booking on Trip.com. No emails, no texts, no in-app messages. After arriving in Kii Katsuura, we had to use Google Maps to figure out how to get to the island ourselves. We were directed to a very secluded pier, the closest one to the island, but the hotel's boat didn't even stop there. We had to call the front desk, and they directed us back to the fish market to find the registration office. I'm very sure that, even on the day of my check-in, there was no information on Trip.com about how to get to the island.
The hotel itself is incredibly thoughtful. There's a hiking trail that takes about 15 minutes to reach a mountain observatory and a foot bath, for which towels are even provided. Both the male and female indoor and outdoor baths are excellent. We also tried the private bath at the cape, which was also great; all the baths are genuinely very close to the sea. The women's bath on the second floor even has a bath where you can lie down, and the outdoor rotemburo in the women's bath features a cave landscape, which is very unique. Dinner is a sukiyaki that you cook yourself, and the meat is good. Breakfast includes three small platters and a buffet, which is also very generous. At different times, there's free-flowing beer, plum wine, sake, and ice cream. The only minor drawback is that there are no vending machines in the hotel; if you want juice, you have to buy it from the first-floor shop before it closes. Overall, I highly recommend staying here because the hotel is simply outstandingly thoughtful.
GGuest UserVery heart-warming 𥄫 service, station pick-up, you may not find it yourself. Next to the lighthouse. Packing dinner and breakfast, very good. Stayed must be unforgettable
AAlina GhgHonestly, 5/5. This accommodation is so lovely, and the host so thoughtful and welcoming, we felt at home straight away.
The location is very peaceful and you can really get to experience the culture.
Thank you so much for having us!
GGuest UserHighly recommended. Good private location, superb service, big indoor and outdoor onsen, superb view and exceptional service.
I stayed during end of Nov. 24.
The hotel is value for money indeed. The room is definitely not 17m as it s indicated. It s very spacious with great private sea bay view.
I stayed during end here one night and stayed at KAMENOI hotel another night. I truly prefer warmth atmosphere here. The outdoor onsen here is certainly better as well!
If I go to Katsuura again, I will definitely stay here.
GGuest UserThe hotel staff was very welcoming and accommodate all our needs. Though it is not close to from main street and restaurants of the town, and maybe not so new and fancy as other hotels in town, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has very specious rooms and great sea views! It also has a secluded lounge for the guests where you can bring your drinks and food if you want to catch up with your friends outside the room, that was very nice for our group, we could enjoy our time there (not many hotels have this!). The manager (hotel owner?) has gone far beyond and even organised our breakfast for 7 people for takeaway when he heard that we have to leave early. They quickly put it in a recyclable furoshiki (Japanese way to pack the bento lunches), it was so sweet of them! When eating this breakfast on a train I could tell it was the best breakfast we had during our stays in the hotels. I definitely recommend staying in this small hotel with high level of service!
GGuest UserThe house has a 150-year history and has been renovated. But there is no front desk clerk, there is a mobile phone number, the short message does not return, the call does not answer. The traffic is very inconvenient, there is no taxi, the bus has to walk a long way to have a station, every two hours, there is a bus. Suitable for tourists who drive by themselves. Because I didn't drive, it was very, very hard. The room type next door is equipped with a stove. The guests chop wood in the yard, then burn fire to keep warm, and the smoke billowed into the room I lived in, making us have to go out to escape.
