"This is the best hotel experience! It's perched on a hilltop in Kushimoto, and the lobby offers an unbeatable ocean view. You absolutely have to choose the one-meal-two-stay package; the buffet dinner runs until 9 PM, which is perfect for a satisfying meal after a day of sightseeing. They have a great selection, including tuna sashimi, a special tea-rice dish, Western cuisine, and more – definitely a top-notch buffet. My favorite part was the public bath. There's an outdoor section with sea views, which is incredibly relaxing. The waiting area is spacious and even has free ice cream bars, which the kids absolutely loved. The most relaxing aspect was the happy hour in the lobby, with unlimited beer, wine, sparkling drinks, and snacks. You can just sit back and enjoy the blissful ocean views. The only downside: there was a strong musty smell, especially noticeable and persistent when it rained."

"The hotel's environment is fantastic, and the entrance garden landscape is absolutely beautiful. The seaside corridor is also stunning, and there's a dedicated hot spring area for foot soaks. The public outdoor hot spring views are also great. The only downside of my trip was the room I booked, which was supposed to have an indoor hot tub, but it turned out to be just a regular bathtub. Although the staff explained that the water was indeed from a hot spring, it still felt disappointing, so I didn't use it. I contacted Ctrip customer service about it, and their handling of the issue was very satisfactory. However, the public bath was a delightful surprise; both the environment and the soaking experience were incredibly comfortable. I highly recommend the dinner buffet. Even though it's a buffet, the ingredients are fresh, and the variety is extensive. You can even grill your own food. The tempura was exceptionally delicious, and they had Haagen-Dazs ice cream! Breakfast, however, wasn't as lavish and was quite simple. Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied."

"The environment is beautiful, and the weather is great, perfect for watching both the sunrise and sunset in spring. The coffee at the lobby's café is delicious, and they even have a microwave, oven, and toaster, which is super convenient if you want to prepare something to eat. There's a bus stop right across from the hotel entrance. If you turn left after exiting the hotel, you'll find Hongfa Hot Spring, facing the sea with beautiful spring blossoms."

"Out of all the hotels we stayed at during our Kii Peninsula trip, the Kameyama Hotel in Kii-Katsuura was the most expensive. There aren't many hotel options in Kii-Katsuura, and this one was still considered relatively good value for money. We booked a twin room with an ocean view (not a tatami room). The room itself was very spacious and had a nice view. However, it's true that the hotel is a bit dated, and some of the room furniture was quite old. Despite that, the cleanliness was good; the room interior was spotless, although the balcony seemed not to have been cleaned thoroughly. I didn't quite understand the openwork design of the bedding; it felt a bit unhygienic with the duvet insert seemingly exposed. Check-in was quick, and the staff spoke fluent English, which made the process very smooth. The hotel breakfast was also excellent. It was a set meal, reservation-based, and all seats faced the ocean. From the hotel, it's about a 10-minute walk to the Torii gate, a 5-minute walk to a FamilyMart convenience store, and a 10-minute walk to the station, which is quite convenient. There's also a free water bar on the first floor, offering coffee and other beverages, which was a nice touch."

"We stayed two nights to attend the Kumano Grand Fireworks Display. The hotel staff were very friendly. Several staff members spoke good English. Upon arrival, because we needed to add a child and an extra bed, the staff helped us find the cheapest option and even offered to move our dinner for the next day to Chinese food. The person making the beds in our room even played with my child! Regarding meals, if you book dinner through Trip.com without specific details, it's very simple, with half of it being buffet style. Breakfast, however, featured fresh tuna, which we enjoyed very much. The hotel lobby balcony offers a beautiful sunrise view, and you can also see the onsen (hot spring). I highly recommend soaking in the onsen to watch the sunrise (I think that's why the onsen opens at 5 am). It's truly stunning and amazing. The onsen also has two tubs of lukewarm water, which the children enjoyed. It was a real shame, though. I saw a huge cockroach on the outdoor hot spring floor for two nights in a row. I looked it up and learned that nocturnal cockroaches prefer warm and humid environments and aren't afraid of water temperatures of 40-50 degrees Celsius... This is probably hard to avoid for outdoor hot springs, but I still hope the hot spring hotel can do something about it, because it affected the overall experience. On the morning I left, I wasn't in the mood to soak in the hot spring."

"It took over 4 hours to get to Hotel Urashima from Kyoto, which isn't actually that far, but even their express trains are a far cry from our high-speed rail. I took an 'Ocean Arrow' train which felt quite old. There was a small observation car between 3-4 carriages, which was fine for enjoying the scenery. After arriving at the JR station, it's a short walk to the pier to catch a boat to the hotel. The self check-in machines at the hotel were incredibly convenient. It printed out vouchers for both dinner that night and breakfast the next morning, which was very handy. Staff were on hand to guide, and everything was clear. I booked a Japanese-Western style quad room, which was quite spacious and had nice views. The room provided yukata that you could wear to the hot springs and for meals. The onsen on the 33rd floor is only open to guests staying in the 'Sanjo-kan' (Mountain building), and it was deserted when we went. The 'Bokaro-do' (Forgetting-to-return-home Cave) in the main building is the most distinctive, and while it was crowded, the scenery was well worth it. We also hiked a section of the Kumano Kodo on our second day, which I highly recommend. The hotel also offers fishing rod rentals, which I believe are available until 5:30 PM. The Sanjo-kan connects to Mount Noroshi, where you can watch the sunset. The Pacific Ocean water is crystal clear, and the scenery is absolutely stunning! If I had to mention a downside, the dining was not impressive. The daily set meals were very limited in variety, and the buffet was just average, not nearly as amazing as the hot spring hotels near Lake Kawaguchiko at the foot of Mount Fuji, where the food was spectacular. If you don't mind the hassle, you can take a boat to town for dinner."

"A cute and cozy hotel with two showers and one shared toilet. You need to book in advance for the hot spring, and each session is 25 minutes. A downside was that I couldn't get in touch with the hotel. I tried through Trip.com but it didn't work, and the hotel doesn't have an email address. There's a phone number, but I didn't use it as I wouldn't have been able to understand or communicate. However, in the end, the hotel staff on-site were very polite and accommodating."

"The hotel environment is wonderful, and the rooms are spacious. It's quiet and not crowded, and the breakfast is also very generous. However, the hotel advertised a pool, but upon check-in, we discovered it wasn't available. It was a terrible experience! The kids were very disappointed! We weren't informed in advance. I have to say the service in Japan is strange. You'd say it's bad, right? Not really. We arrived on a Monday, and the only restaurant at the whale aquarium was closed, with no other options nearby. No food was prepared in advance. Two adults and two children were hungry, so we asked the hotel about lunch. They didn't even open the hotel shop to buy us some instant noodles. 🍜 We saw them sitting there... because they had a 3:00 PM opening rule... We didn't have a dinner reservation, so we couldn't use it that night! We had to eat bread after our trip, but we had to take a taxi. Dinner was a long way away. 😞"

"I've tried both of the onsen hotels in Nachi that require a ferry to access, Urashima and Nakanoshima, and I highly recommend Nakanoshima. Everything from the hotel environment to the dinner and breakfast was excellent, especially the kaiseki dinner, which left a very deep impression on my trip to Kyoto. The picture shows the menu translated by my phone, and I must specifically mention the wagyu beef – it was absolutely delicious!!! The waitstaff even gave us an extra plate when they saw how much we enjoyed it, which was a great touch! Also, if you're going to use the onsen, you absolutely must try the outdoor one. Relaxing comfortably while looking out at the sea – now that's a vacation!"

"For this price, what do you think of that dinner? The portion size was generous, but I was surprised it was like a packed lunch for a business meeting. Also, in the morning, they just left frozen bread in a bag, a small salad, and boiled vegetables*. I'd rather stay at XX Inn... The room was spacious, but there were no lace curtains, and the entrance was completely visible from the outside. It felt like the bath was only for day-trippers, and everything was disappointing. From Ise Grand Shrine, the road is extremely narrow for a long stretch, and if you encounter oncoming traffic, one of you has no choice but to back up. There are ditches, so novice drivers and large vehicles should be careful. There are many places where there is no cell phone signal.
