"The heritage Kandalama Hotel is in the heart of the Gungal near a lake. The hotel was designed with consideration and respect for the environment, the animals that live there and the nature that surrounds the hotel.
The room is cozy and well-equipped and includes a balcony overlooking the jungle. The infinity pool overlooks a lake where elephants and birds stay. We received a pleasant welcome from the hotel staff. The dining room is immersed in green and the breakfast is great. We received excellent service and personal attention from the entire staff at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel without luggage and they made sure to coordinate the arrival of the luggage for us.
We liked Nalinda the kind guide from the hotel who took us on a morning tour and since then we became friends. Nalinda took care of our well-being even after we left the hotel. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay. Definitely recommended for those who want to rest and relax in a dreamy place."

"A quiet hotel with mango garden. The food is different, there is delicious and quite acute, more careful. Spa don't take, massage can't do at all. At night monkeys ran on the roof, by the way, thundered there something. The elephants didn't see. And so all super"

Amazing
AayachiIt was a wonderful stay.
The room was very clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Since it was directly connected to the garden, we had to deal with the ants getting in (as is the case everywhere in Sri Lanka).
The next day, they offered a shuttle to Sigiriya Rock at 5 a.m., which was extremely helpful! And it was free!
After that, they suggested a safari tour, which cost 14,000 RS for two people! It was at Eco Park!
After that, they told us we could swim in a local lake, so we went there and did. They also took us to a treehouse used by local farmers, where we saw lots of fireflies before we left! This was free of charge.
The hotel owner is very quiet, but warm, and helped us with all the planning!
His younger brother is also adorable and helpful! His cousin is the friendliest, and he's always been happy to share his knowledge of Sri Lanka! We stayed here as a group of two girls, and I found the closeness a bit concerning, so if you're concerned about close contact, you might want to think a little more about how you communicate (lol).
That said, we had a lot of unique experiences here! I highly recommend this lodging!
FFrancisco Gonzalez ManzanoJust a short walk from the bus stop, this gem of a guesthouse is hands down the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. The owner goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, always offering help and thoughtful advice. He even arranged for a local tuk-tuk driver at a very reasonable price, ensuring I had the best experience exploring the area. Every afternoon, he would check in and offer a delightful cup of tea, making the stay feel extra special.
His wife’s cooking is an absolute highlight—breakfast was not just delicious but prepared with so much care, adding a homely touch to every meal. The room itself was super clean, big, and incredibly comfortable. From start to finish, they both made me feel completely at home. I can say this was the best accommodation I experienced during my time in Sri Lanka, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable and comfortable stay.
AA-TsuThe hotel I had booked had to be cancelled suddenly due to an air conditioner malfunction, so I booked the nearest hotel that looked nice. Despite the reservation being made on the day, the staff were very kind. The hotel was located in an alley off the main street, so it was a little hard to find, but the staff came to pick me up on the main street.
The staff had lovely smiles.
The room was clean and spacious, with great water pressure, hot water, and drainage.
The only amenity provided was soap.
The breakfast was also delicious.
It was close to the Dambulla Cave Temple, and a short walk away there was a supermarket that sold alcohol.
The location was also good.
It was a small but nice hotel.
NNhanWe got very nice experience when staying here 1 night. The room was perfect for our family of 3. We just had to pay for the 3rd person's breakfast.
The Logde located nearby the Lion rock and village, easy to find and go to the rock or the Gambulla city within 10min.
The host Isuru was very welcoming from the start and made sure that we had all that we needed. ( hot water, drinking water, towels, AC, fan). We also really appreciated Mr Alain, a french gentleman resident in the sameplace! The room also had all the necessary for us to not be bitten by insects (scents and more). There was also a room for the driver at a very resonnable price. However we found the wifi a little weak, but else everything was good.
In the surroundings it is peaceful, and we woke up to nice little sound of the nature and a well prepared typical srilankan breakfast and fruits! Delicious!
GGuest UserThe room was a bit unsatisfactory, the air conditioner was a bit noisy, and there were traces of water soaking from the air conditioner on the wall. But the hotel environment is good, the greenery is great, the swimming pool is large, and there are many animals in the hotel. I took my child to play in the hotel all morning, and she was very happy to see the animals.
__WeChat12600****Facilities: Complete facilities, with its own private small swimming pool and massage
Hygiene: Overall it is quite clean
Environment: Very primitive, with peacocks in the yard
Service: Very good service, the waiter helped with the luggage. Breakfast can be booked in advance, you can try the local Sri Lankan breakfast
SStar Light Star BrightWe chose Hotel Sigiriya due to its proximity to The Lion Rock entrance. Distance from hotel is roughly 8 mins. Please note, it’s advisable to not WALK!
Remember to order a tuk-tuk in advance if you plan to climb Sigiriya and watch the sunrise. We left at 5am and paid a return ride of LKR1,500 for two person. Our tuk-tuk driver Chaminda +94 ********* took good care of us -two 50yrs old ladies who successfully climbed the summit.
Typical of Ceylonese people the hotel staffs were warm and friendly. Shout out to Tharaka (Reception Manager) who always greeted us with a smile and Shehan Restaurant Manager for entertaining us during our 3 day stay.
Our room was a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Good hot shower and acceptable water pleasure. Nice to return to a room that’s been nicely made after 2 hard days of stairs climbing - the Pidurangala (first day) and Sigiriya (second day). Our travel dates were May 31 - Jun 3.
Good variety for breakfast buffer - Sri Lankan and Western. The same applies to dinner buffer too. Overall, nice hotel and yes will stay again.
GGuest UserRecommended, the location is very good, opposite the Lion Rock, and there are many food and drink options next to the hotel. The lobby decoration is very distinctive, and the room is not big but comfortable and clean. There are not many types of breakfast, but it is a pleasure to sit in the beautiful lobby to eat. And the price matches!
XXIANDONGGarden-style hotel, with beautiful scenery and large rooms. There is also a welcome ceremony when arriving at the hotel. There are not many people staying at the hotel. The most funny thing is that from the lobby to the room, the bottle car cannot pass the path smoothly. At that time, the design was not thoughtful. The overall feeling is that this hotel is a relatively high-end hotel in the local area, which is good in all aspects, but remember to give a little more tip, otherwise you can just shake your face and show it to you
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a forest, composed of beautiful two-story buildings of 6-7, each with 4 rooms. The hotel has a large yard, large lawn and swimming pool are very beautiful. The room facilities are quite satisfactory and there is no special place. The service is very good, warm and thoughtful, and the welcome drink is delicious. Breakfast is not a buffet, the variety is relatively simple, there are toast, eggs, fruit platters, juice and milk. The room is not soundproofed. If the two adjacent rooms are strangers, they may affect each other. There are many monkeys on the tree in the yard. The monkeys will play on the roof and make a lot of noise. This is an advantage or a disadvantage. Everyone has different evaluations. In short, it is a good hotel, whether it is an excessive or a leisure holiday, it is a good choice.
