Layla Hostel

This large villa is indeed beautifully decorated, but it's not suitable for introverts. The facilities are old, and the soundproofing is practically nonexistent. I stayed for three nights: the first two in a private room with a shared bathroom, and the third in a dormitory. When I checked in at night, the guy at the reception was busy chatting with other guests, leaving me standing there awkwardly, feeling like I'd just walked into the host's living room. Only two of the public bathrooms had locks; the rest just had curtains that could be pulled open at any time. They were also mixed-gender and had no air conditioning, so it was incredibly hot after a shower. The kitchen had no microwave, only an oven with malfunctioning buttons that was difficult to use. The air conditioning in the room was quite ineffective, and one of the lamps was broken. Now for the most crucial part. I arrived quite late on my first night, and I was stopped from blow-drying my hair after 11 PM. However, the noise from conversations in the common area continued late into the night, and my room was right next to it, meaning there was basically no soundproofing. Since it was a shared bathroom, I had to walk through the common area to use the restroom, and there were always people sitting in the living room or smoking on the balcony all night long. The dormitory room on the third night was an absolute disaster. I went to bed before midnight but only managed to get about four hours of broken sleep throughout the night. It seemed like the hostel had organized some event that day, as a large group of Caucasians returned after 2 AM, started talking loudly in the common area, showering, and dragging suitcases in their rooms until past 4 AM. During all this, absolutely no one intervened! There were many Chinese guests at this hostel, almost a 50/50 split with Caucasians. I don't understand why blow-drying my hair for 10 minutes after 11 PM was stopped, but two hours of loud shouting at 3 AM went completely unchecked!!! The experiences above are entirely my personal, true account, with no exaggeration or fabrication, offered as a reference for my fellow Chinese travelers.

I arrived early and had to wait a long time. Even though the room I was assigned was empty and clearly cleaned, they wouldn't let me check in. However, the cat was super playful and had no boundaries – it even jumped on my bed and tried to steal my sausage!

The Egyptian breakfast was absolutely delicious! There's a metro station nearby, and also a farmers' market where I bought a kilo of strawberries for only 25 EGP – that's incredible! The overall atmosphere and accommodation at this hostel were fantastic. I hope to visit again next year!

The environment is great, and the bed is very spacious.

Giving full marks because the mattress was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast wasn't great value for money.
