Hotel Agua del Desierto
"Pleasant hotel which projects an air of quality but doesn’t quite live up to that image. To begin with, none of our UK credit cards worked at reception because they had one of the old card readers that won’t read the chip and pin. The card readers in the restaurant worked fine so time to upgrade the ones at reception! Room well kitted out, nice beds, toiletries (not ones you can’t steal though) and staff generally helpful and pleasant. There is no lounge bar, just a restaurant with tables and chairs, so not a place to relax. We ate in the restaurant the first night but the food wasn’t great and the staff rather clueless. There were 8 of them setting for a large party, scraping the chair across the floor, tipping a table over with a loud crash, and generally making a lot of noise for what was a simple task that could have been carried out more discretely and professionally. My tuna and fries was just that - overcooked tuna, nice hand-cut fries - but for a hotel that appears to offer fine dining (look at the website photos), those little, unopenable sachets of ketchup seemed rather out of place. My lemon dessert was sickly sweet and not very lemony. Stay here if you like but eat elsewhere."
Ibis Calama
"the ibis hotel in Calama canceled my paid reservation by email a few minutes before I landed in Calama, Chile. I called them and offered no solution as they gave up my room. yikes need a refund, please"
Hotel Diego de Almagro Calama Express
"With it being 22 degrees Celsius outside, they have the air conditioning centralized and I was roasting in my room. The rooms are so close together that you can hear everything the person in the next room does. The door locks are hard to close, hence the constant slamming. Breakfast: BAD"
Geotel Calama
"Nice hotel"
Park Hotel Calama
"Great hotel in Calama. Close to the airport. Good restaurant with great food."
Hotel Diego de Almagro Calama
"Calama is apparently one of the driest places on earth ; it’s certainly very remote and logistics presumably present issues on a recurring basis. It’s only proper therefore to give its hospitality offering a wide berth. This hotel is somewhat dated, certainly ‘tired’. But it does offer a reasonable level of comfort - decent beds, plenty of hot water, air con and a basic swimming pool with sun lounging furniture. Forget in-room tea/coffee making facilities. AND…! Be prepared to bite your tongue when told that no milk is available across the entire hotel should you be attempting to make yourself a cuppa ‘downstairs’. Dinner sounded more hopeful on paper. Nothing earth shattering and certainly not an extensive menu, but the spaghetti bolognaise was able to trigger positive digestive anticipation !! The reality was an array of ‘sandwiches’ only, the common basis around which was a ginormous bap, with hidden amongst it, some onion & tomato and further in, a beef patty. A limply uninspiring salad sat alongside. You’re on steady ground if it’s an accompanying lager you’re looking for and the Chilean Red was good. But don’t even think about anything remotely resembling an Aperol Spritz. Breakfast however ‘surprised’ with an excellent scrambled egg. Service wise, the staff are at best, ‘hit & miss’. The welcome from the longer haired female receptionist at 12.00 was non-existent. She was functional and lacking in any enthusiasm. The later guy on reception was very helpful and was genuinely concerned about me considering a walk into the town ( to source some milk ⚡️😂 ) - ‘it’s not safe’. The waiting staff in the restaurant were inconsistent ; some trying their best, others utterly indifferent. So in summary and accepting language barriers ( my bad ! ), this place does a job, if it’s an ‘in transit’ stopover that you’re looking for."
Hotel Diego de Almagro Alto El Loa Calama
"The hotel is a faener hotel. It is from Monday to Thursday. I was a Saturday. I arrived at 21:15 and the restaurant had closed. Null option to eat something. Null empathy to make an order from outside. Reception people. - Bad. - zero empathy before reaching and having not eaten anything. - and then in the room no even water, a fridge bar without anything. - I came 3-4 times but worse and worse. - the tapes are observed without maintenance (cleanness). - in the morning at breakfast the egg was finished and it took about 15 minutes to replace. - I really don't come back. - other household topics: the shower is swept (without rubber); few sticks; the desk had no paper, a pencil, nothing. - in summary, no REVENUE MAS."
Ibis Budget Calama
"Tiny fixtures, the bathroom is too small, you can't close the door without damaging it if you're sitting down, you hit your head on the handle, a disaster...very poorly designed"
Hotel Modular Express Calama
"Room was ok; Food was bad, lunch was terrible the day I got there and then, I assumed the rest was the same. After the first day I ate outside and it was better, more abundant and cheaper. Noise surroundings And the worse,I got stolen when in my last day when I forgot to leave my suitcase locked before to go work. Don't leave anything unattended. As a recommendation: look for another place. No reaction from manager, my word against them. DON'T TRUST CLEANING PERSONNEL. Calama is dangerous, this is one of the examples. I will never return to this place again nor recommend."
