"This was a very disappointing stay, thankfully it was only for one night between trains. I informed the hotel in advance that I would arriving around 2230. No acknowledgement. On arrival, one of the three unoccupied staff eventually looked up at me. Check-in then proceeded to take 10-15 minutes while reception scrutinised my Irish passport, photocopied it, asked me why I had no visa and so on. It’s clear this alleged 5-star hotel are not used to dealing with tourists. I had a requested a non-smoking room but when I opened the door there was a smell of stale smoke. There was also cigarette ash all over the arm of the couch. Now very tired, I made my complaint on check out. The receptionist - her WeChat profile says she is the hotel’s top salesperson - was clearly looking for ways to dodge the complaint and try it on. She offered a refund provided I cancelled via Trip. Obviously having stayed this was not an option for me and in any event cancellation is required by 2000 the night before. It was clear she wanted to pretend the stay never took place and in so doing she wanted to ensure it was not possible for me to leave a review. She claimed she would resolve if all via WeChat as I was in a hurry for the train but on WeChat she reneged the refund. Thankfully Trip stepped in to resolve matters. The hotel then sent a blatant and direct request for me to post a 5-star review thereby contravening Trip’s policy on soliciting guest feedback. It’s clear they send this out to all customers. Be advised, this hotel employs dodgy practices and I trust Trip will bring them to task."

"1️⃣ The service from waitresses Xiao Yang and Shan Shan was excellent. 2️⃣ This is the first Orange Crystal hotel in Changde, currently in its trial operation phase, so it doesn't participate in Huazhu's benefits program. However, the service level is truly impeccable; as a Changde local, I felt very welcome staying here. 3️⃣ There are three washer-dryer combos, and the washing and drying performance is excellent. They also offer laundry service. The gym has two treadmills, one elliptical trainer, and one rowing machine. I hope they can add some simple dumbbells. 4️⃣ The breakfast was very good. Having stayed at a 0.5 version of Orange Crystal in Changsha the day before yesterday, I still feel that newer versions are always better. 5️⃣ Because it's newly opened, there's a slight smell of renovation. Ventilation needs to be improved. 6️⃣ The hotel's location is excellent; it's right next to Changde Pedestrian Street and Wuling Pavilion. I hope the hotel continues to improve! I'll definitely stay here again next time. (ง•̀_•́）ง"

"Upon check-in, the reception staff were all cold and unfriendly. There was someone else's hair on the pillow, and the blankets were so itchy I couldn't tell if they weren't clean or if there were mites. I'd never encountered anything like this before. The biggest problem was the overwhelming smell of new renovations in the room, which was amplified by the numerous carpets. It seems they didn't air out the rooms to remove formaldehyde before opening. I had a sleepless night because of this. Opening the window meant noisy traffic outside, even though I requested a quiet room when booking. The only bright spot was the decent beef noodles for breakfast. I will not only never go to this hotel again, but I will never go to any Wyndham hotels again."

Several obvious disadvantages: 1. I didn't take our order remarks seriously. I booked 2 big bed rooms about a month in advance and wanted to arrange them together. When I checked in, I told me that the room type I set could not be satisfied. Although it was on the same floor, one was on the left and the other was on the right. We went in the off-season, so there are other room types that can be arranged together, but we have to add money. I asked why I didn't read my order remarks. If I can tell me in advance that I can re-book another room type (other hotels will call to inform the same situation). In the end, I spent money to apply for a silver member to help me upgrade for free and late check-out. But there is a better solution that will not let consumers spend a long time and have a better stay experience when checking in. 2. The front desk service attitude is relatively cold. Can't say bad but cold. Did not say hello, said thank you and did not respond. Don't ask to say that you must over-service, some of the front desk professional courtesy is still lacking. Next time if you come to Changde, you may also consider living in this house. There are many advantages that you can temporarily forget the shortcomings, but I hope that the whole season can still pay attention to it."

The only downside is that my room was right next to the elevator, so it got quite noisy in the hallway around 10 AM, and the soundproofing isn't great."
