"Cons: Terrible “continental” breakfast consisting of instant oatmeal packets, granola bars and Entenmann’s danish cut into squares. Bathroom toilet doesn’t always flush. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. Bathroom doors and door frames on more than one room are swollen and will not shut without tremendous force. My wife got stuck in the bathroom because she could not open the door. The petite queen is as advertised. It is an impossibly small room. You can only enter the bed from one side. When I raised the bathroom concerns (flushing and door not closing) with the manager, his response was that it’s part of staying at a 170 year old inn and that until the plumbing is redone, the toilet will be temperamental. I don’t mind the small room but the toilet should flush and the bathroom should ensure privacy by having a door that closes. Management should have offered some sort of compensation for these failures. So add poor customer service to these issues. Pros: A 2 minute walk to the beach. Clean"

Old Harbor Inn

Old Harbor Inn

📍 22 Old Harbor Road, Chatham
★★★ 9.5 (51 reviews)

"My friend and I were excited for our trip to Chatham and had booked a room at the Old Harbor Inn several months in advance, after researching several options. The trip got off to a poor start when we were shown to our rooms and found that one of them had a “private bathroom just down the hall.” We never expected that a guest room costing more than $450/night would not be ensuite. When we checked with the proprietors about this and asked if we could have another room, we were told they were full up and that we “just had to accept that we had made a poor choice.” That was certainly the case as our interaction with the owners was quite an unpleasant experience. Many reviews mention that the Inn is “Welcoming,” but for us it was anything but. The owners blamed us (apparently we didn’t read the fine print) and they told us that they would be happy to have us leave and forfeit our deposit. We didn’t. We stuck it out. The experience and the bathroom situation were a shame because there is a lot to like at the Inn. Apart from the owners, the staff were kind and helpful, the building and grounds are very attractive, the breakfast delicious, and the location was excellent."

Queen Anne Inn

Queen Anne Inn

📍 70 Queen Anne Rd, Chatham
★★★★ 8.5 (50 reviews)

"I chose the Queen Anne Inn because looked to be the quintessential New England inn. It met all my expectations and more. The inn was built in 1840 and still maintains its character and charm with beautiful gardens, hardwood floors, and historical decor. We chose a smaller garden room to have a view of the gardens and a balcony. We were able to walk from the inn to shopping, the Oyster Salt Pond, and the harbor. A delicious made-to-order breakfast is also included and served by a wonderful staff. The breakfast was seriously amazing. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and professional, especially the innkeeper. She was so nice to help us with getting acquainted with the area. I would go back just to stay here."

"Broken sink cabinet, limited hot water, steep stairs no elevator, dollar store shower curtain, cheap cheap cheap furnishings, noisy, limited continental breakfast, previous night's beer cans left on outdoor furniture. Not worth $350/night."

"We had a wonderful time, as we always do. Owners Judy and Ray treat us like family (this was about our 8th visit). The staff is excellent and just as welcoming. We go to the Old Harbor Inn to relax, and that's exactly what we do. The rooms are all wonderful, and the breakfasts are always great. We will be going back soon, and are already looking forward to it. Chatham is a lovely little town, and we always enjoy strolling through it."
