When I left my bag at a Fado restaurant and needed to speak Portuguese, the front desk staff made the call for me."

"I stayed at the hotel due to a business dinner with clients. Arrived in the middle of the afternoon and checked in without any major problems. The hotel is worn out and the level of cleanliness isn't fantastic. However, the worst thing about the hotel is the service: after dinner, one of my colleagues who had made a paid reservation a long time ago returned to the hotel at the same time as I and was told she had to stay at another hotel of the same company because they only had one room available for a guest who hadn't arrived yet. Se tried to obtain an explanation about the criteria used to allocate the room (including from the hotel's General Manager - Helena Sequeira). Unfortunately, what we got was silence about the matter. However, we eventually realized that it was because the other booking had been made via an online platform and the hotel was afraid of the rating that would result from moving this client (with a booking that had not yet been paid for) instead of transferring my colleague (who had a paid-for room). The way the hotel (staff and manager) handled the whole process (which happened close to 24:00) was too bad."

"The staff were very helpful and the cafe / restaurant a real asset. The location is also terrific as is the bus stop just outside the camp which will whisk you in to the centre of Coimbra within 20mins. However, the whole site looks and feels rather neglected: old caravans going green with what looks like neglect, soggy pitches with little apparent attempt to make them better for parking on ( notwithstanding the unusually wet conditions experienced this winter), poor signage, forelorn and dated toilet and showering blocks..... A little bit of love and attention and this could be a 5* site. As it is now, a 3* is generous."
