"Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the Rose and Crown for helping us host mums wake on April 30th we had no idea how many people would be helping us celebrate her life, Sam and the team put on an amazing spread and kept it topped up for the whole afternoon, homemade fruit scones, cheese scones, sandwiches and cakes, tea coffee and of course a large range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Beautiful setting and views out the back in the lovely beer garden."

"Absolute gem of a bed & breakfast offering real value for money. Having spent the day walking Hadrian's Wall, checking into this lovely place was just perfect. The room was beautifully appointed and the bathroom was super. Great hospitality tray which included hot chocolate (nice touch) the room was warm and comfortable. The included breakfast was great and everything was cooked to order. Right in the centre of the village with good car parking. Communication prior to checking in was great and included recommendations for places to have an evening meal. Highly recommend Fountain Cottage, just a really lovely place which does hospitality incredibly well. I will be back."

Brown Rigg Lodges

"This was our second visit to Brown Rigg lodges, our first being in 2019. This visit was with our teenagers and two Labradors. The lodges are great and in a terraced building. There are 4 lodges and then there are guest rooms too. We love the grounds and find it beautiful in the surrounding area of Bellingham. They have a large games area with a pool table (50p charge per game) and a ping-pong table too with a couple of sofas to relax on. There is a basketball hoop and also picnic tables and BBQs to use too. Our lodge was Hadrian which is one of the disabled/ramp accessable ones which also has a seat in the shower. It has a large dining area, living area, bathroom with shower and 3 bedrooms. One double room and two twin rooms. Our lodge was lovely and clean with fresh white bedding. There is hand soap, eco washing up liquid, eco spray, t-towels/sponge, dishwasher tablets and a kitchen roll. As it's a self catering property, you need to take your own towels etc but you can hire towels at a small cost. We had no issues here but the staff are available if you need anything or have any problems. We will definitely stay here for a third visit."
