"The room was very nice - sufficiently large and with all necessary amenities (even a small fridge). The room was clean and in good condition. The staff was very kind and stored my luggage for free, as I arrived early in the morning. The hotel is conveniently located, yet in a rather quiet place. It's a walking distance from both Nagano station and Zenkoji temple (approximately 20-25 minutes), however, do note that the nearest bus stop is about 900 meters away, so if you got a lot of luggage and do not intend to get a taxi, that may be a bit far. They also have coin operated washing machines and dryers, in case you need them. Overall, a great option for most travelers, especially in terms of value for money."

"The hotel is pretty decent. I had a very nice stay. It's clean and the rooms are outrageously spacious vis-a-vis Japan standard. While it is not easily accessible by foot to Nagano stationl, the hotel provide shuttle service to and from Nagano station at varying times of the day. Lastly, the staff were very accommodating too. Thank you."

"Cleanliness: The room was very clean. Even two or three-star hotels in Japan maintain a high standard of cleanliness, much more meticulous than what you'd find domestically.
Facilities: The facilities are comprehensive, and the room isn't small. Breakfast is very local with a good variety of options.
Service: The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I forgot to get my breakfast vouchers when I checked in, but the next morning, I found a letter from the staff informing me about them.
During the summer, a triple room for 600+ with three breakfasts is really excellent value for money!"

"The hotel is located about 10-15mins walk from Nagano station and is easily navigated using google map. Hotel provide luggage forwarding service and luggage deposit after checkout. Amenities are not provided in the room but upon check in, hotel staff will inform you to pick what you need from the area at the hotel lobby. It can also be picked up at anytime of the day. "First off, the location is incredibly convenient. It's quite close to the Zenkoji Exit of JR Nagano Station. From there, if you're heading to Togakushi, you can buy bus tickets at a small shop located at Platform 7 in front of JR Nagano Station. For Zenkoji Temple, you can either walk or take a bus from Platform 1. A taxi to Zenkoji would cost between 1300-2000 yen. As for the hotel facilities, they're perfect, except for the rooms being a bit small. The front desk on the first floor offers complimentary coffee and juice, and the coffee beans are excellent. From 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, they serve free soy sauce ramen. The rooftop onsen is wonderfully relaxing, and they even provide ice cream and Yakult. There's a 7-Eleven right next to the hotel. Plus, the hotel doesn't look old at all. Highly recommend for a stay in Nagano."

"We went skiing in Nagano Prefecture and stayed one night. The seafood restaurant next to the hotel was pretty good; you could try it. The only downside was that, as is typical of Route Inn hotels, the large public onsen (hot spring bath) only had a men's bath, no women's. My wife and two daughters were very unhappy, feeling it was blatant gender discrimination."

"Had a great experience staying at Toyoko-Inn Nagano Higashi-eki. Rooms were clean, housekeeping made sure you have clean towels everyday, breakfast was great. One small problem - they have 3 washing machine but 2 dryers. Great location near JR train stn, plenty to see and shop. We walked to Zenkoji Temple and stumbled upon the Sakura garden and had a mini picnic there. Will definitely come back to this hotel again the next time we come to Nagano!"

Despite my late check-in at around 10+ PM, she went the extra mile to warmly greet me and ensure that my room arrangement was smooth and comfortable.

I was very lucky to book the last room on Saturday. Although the evaluation on the trip was not high, the evaluation on Google map was excellent and it was better than expected. I had the opportunity to come to Huyin and stay again. Thank you for everyone received by the hotel. It made me have a very pleasant journey.

The room was clean and just the right size for a single traveller. There was even a microwave oven in the room! The hotel is quite strict on its check in timings, its not really a downside, just a heads up for people who might try their luck for early check ins.

Guest UserFirst of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine.
After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it was only heating. Since the weather outside was quite cool, I understand that the system is centrally controlled and set to heating. I then tried opening the window, but it could only be opened a small amount. For some reason, no fresh air was coming in, and the room still felt very stuffy.
Later, I went down to the counter (again, the same two male staff from check-in) to ask if the air conditioning could be switched to cooling, but my request was rejected. I then asked if it was possible to borrow a fan, and they refused again with a very impatient attitude.
Overall, the stay was not a very good experience. The room itself was actually fine, but it was too stuffy. I hope this review can be helpful to others.

A Japanese-style hotel with extreme temperatures. Although the luggage has to be carried up and down the steep and bright wooden stairs, the old antiques in the house make life afraid of breaking up, all guests share the bathroom bathroom and hot spring âšïž. But it is so warm, the space is reasonably used upstairs and downstairs, and the 20 or so rooms are scattered. Comfortable hot spring baths, soft cloth tatami mats and the quiet environment in the store make people relax. The hotel operator is an elderly couple over 80 years old, busy upstairs and downstairs every day, ushered in, the 81-year-old gentleman not only has a hard body but also a super memory, every time the guest goes out, he picks out the guest's shoes and puts them in front of the guest, never making mistakes. Grandma is also radiant and kind, and she will not forget every word the guests have said to her, carefully and meticulously. The two elders stood outside the door in slippers and bowed and waved goodbye to us until the bus traveled. Maybe it is because of the fact that this century-old store has been passed down. I hope everyone can feel their precious warmth and cherish it when they stay.

Ks TamThe location is great and it is well maintained. I stayed in the 4 beds female dorm, it was spacious. The bed was big with a little desk at one side of the bed for organising personal items. Each bed has their own charging pod. There are some limitations though: the lift can't be used so suitcases are moved up via staircase. I have to go down to the 2nd floor for the bathroom and toilet. I am not sure how many people are sharing them but I never need to wait an they are clean.

This place is ~5mins walk from Zenkoji temple. neighborhood is peaceful at night.
Shoes to be removed outside the accommodation. Rooms are on the 2nd floor so you'll have to carry your luggage up (there's no lift).
Room (with window) is huge. You'll have to head downstairs to use the shared toilet and shared onsen (no toilet inside the room).
We were only allowed 30mins of onsen time for 2 pax - couples weren't allowed to use the onsen concurrently so we had to go one after another (i'm not sure if the instructions got lost in translation..). Felt very rushed so i didnt really get to enjoy the onsen experience, but overall was nice and clean.
Interesting 6.30am tour around the area and within the temple itself, followed by a simple vegetarian breakfast (porridge with omakase-styled sides with miso soup) back at the accommodation. The morning tour lasted from 6.30am - 8.30am.
The accommodation provided a fleece blanket to each pax to bring to Zenkoji temple to keep us warm during the morning praying ceremony. We went on 30 Dec and it was SO COLD.
Overall interesting experience but accommodation price is pretty steep IMO.

Great location just a few minutes walk from the station. The individual cabins themselves were quite spacious. There were a lot of people in one room though, it was about 50 people in one room so it got very noisy during the night.

Very good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor.
Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries.
Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day.
Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.

1) Location: Get off at Zhongshe and walk about 3-400 meters. You can reach it in a straight line.
2) Hotel: Decorated in the 1980s-1990s, there is no heating in the corridor, but there is heating in the room, and the temperature is suitable. There is no bathing in the hotel. The hot spring is in a large covered tub. There is no heating in the shower room and toilet.
3) Meals: You can order them at the hotel. The bossâs skills are pretty good and delicious, but not very cheap.
[Five-star recommendation] Try to avoid bringing a trolley suitcase in winter. The road is too difficult to walk. It is uphill to get to the hotel. I arrived at night and fell a few times. It was too painful.
