One of the loveliest ryokans we've ever stayed at in Japan, wish we stayed for longer. Every part of the hotel is so beautiful and serves as a lovely photo backdrop.
There is a lounge with coffee/tea in the mornings and alcohol and snacks in the evening. There is also a playroom (suitable for infants to 6years old).
Service is top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Extremely easy to communicate with them as the staff can speak English well. They gave us a map and told us where we could go for food or to the ski resorts and gave a lot of local advice.
They provide all the amenities you need. They even have rain boots that you can borrow and wear in case your shoes are not waterproof. It snowed heavily while we were there and the staff are super attentive - they asked where we were headed to and suggested for comfort, that we wear the hotel's rain boots as they knew my partner's shoe wasn't waterproof/suitable to walk through the snow.
Rooms are very clean, big and comfortable (only that the futons are a little thin).
The onsens are rather small, but the outdoor onsen is so beautiful.
They provide a shuttle service to the train station (upon request) , although it is a relatively short walk - 5mins - and easy to walk if there is no snow. 7 eleven right next to the train station and New Days inside the train station.
We loved every single thing about this charming lovely hotel and we will definitely be back if we are in Echigo Yuzawa.

A truly enjoyable stay with beautiful views and a wonderful atmosphere
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The view from the room was amazing, and the Japanese-style room added a special touch that made the experience feel authentic and relaxing. I also loved the library and the overall cultural atmosphere of the hotel -- it created a calm and inspiring environment.
The movie experience offered by the hotel was a great addition and made the stay even more memorable. Breakfast was also excellent: very nice, beautifully presented, and delicious.
Overall, it was delightful stay, and I would love to come back again.

The overall service was incredibly thoughtful, and the staff were friendly and polite. From the pick-up service at the station to the evening welcome, everything was perfectly executed, and simple English communication was no problem. As for the accommodation, the room was in a traditional Japanese style, spacious and clean, with a great view outside the window. Although the building itself is a bit old, it's very well-maintained. The onsen (hot spring bath) was a highlight – the water, straight from the source, felt silky smooth, and the open-air bath offered expansive views, making for a truly relaxing soak. Overall, it's a charming and hospitable onsen ryokan where you can truly unwind.

Choosing KKR Yuzawa Yukiguni during my trip to Echigo Yuzawa was truly an excellent decision. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station, up a slight hill, but it was quiet, and the room was pre-heated, making it warm and comfortable. What I particularly loved was the dinner kaiseki and breakfast; the ingredients were fresh, the presentation was substantial, and the taste was absolutely delicious. Also, the view from the large public bath felt like looking at a framed painting. If you're going to Echigo Yuzawa, I highly recommend it!

無憂無慮的過日子、明天的事、明天解決
Although this place isn't right on the ski slopes, they offer a shuttle service. The rooms are spacious enough, and the staff are friendly and can speak both Chinese and Japanese. They can also help you rent ski equipment, and the rental fees are much cheaper than at the ski center. The bathhouse has a nostalgic vibe. If you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you need to book with the owner in advance. The meals are affordable and come in generous portions. This is the best accommodation choice if you're planning a ski trip without a tour group.

The sauna has been closed due to COVID-19. A lame excuse indeed.
The bathroom clock, which was previously pointed out in a review, is still broken. If they offer day-use bathing with designated times, they should either repair it or put up a new clock.
The weather was cloudy when I checked in and then rained, but the next day was sunny. The view from my room was beautiful with beautiful autumn leaves.

Such a cozy place! Free laundry and hot drinks were much appreciated. There is a fireplace in the common area and a storage room for ski/snowboard equipment. I topped up for the meal plan and the food was great, but the cooking amenities are sufficient for those who wish to bring ingredients and cook their own food.
Only thing was that the mattress was a little thin, but I only stayed 2 nights so it wasn't really a big issue to me.

The location was very good, and it was quiet on the opposite side of the bustling area, so the only sounds were the river and rain. It was nice. However, the room was not bad, but the walls were thin, so you could hear all the conversations of other guests. Unfortunately, I was with a group of noisy guests late at night and early in the morning, so I had a hard time falling asleep, and even when I did, I was woken up, which was a pain.
The room itself was small, but it was clean and enough for a night's sleep.
The bathroom was much smaller than it looked in the photos, and it felt cramped for two people. The towels at the foot of the bathroom were damp, so I wish they could be replaced or made of a material that drains water well.
It seems that they no longer offer breakfast service, but they had free water, coffee, and tea, which was very helpful.
Comfort depends on the guests you stay with, but overall it was a comfortable hotel.

The guesthouse's location is incredibly convenient. In the mornings, you can enjoy a stroll in the nearby Takizawa Park and see the dam and waterfall. The guesthouse staff are very friendly, and the Japanese breakfast is fresh and delicious, offering slight variations each day, which truly shows their dedication to providing a great experience. Guests can also access the hot springs 24/7 for their convenience.

The room is spacious but ordinary. The room heater is old and traditional that made the room very dry and uneven temperature in different parts of the room. The water heater is not stable and sometimes it will shut down. The bed and pillow is uncomfortable. The hotel just beside the main road of village and our room windows are facing to the road, thus it is quite noise in the morning especially when it is raining or snowing. To be concluded, the room made us uncomfortable. Not recommended.
