"We chose this hotel for a stopover before taking the car-train to Wallis. The charming chalet-style hotel is in the center of Kandersteg, a Swiss mountain village close by the station. Our room on the first floor had a nice balcony with view of the mountains. We found the mattress rather hard, bathroom is small, no separate toilet. Nice decoration. The breakfast in the large and cozy dining room was of good quality, good Swiss cheeses. We missed freshly made omelettes. There is one (slow) electric charging point, beware, no others closeby. Check in was smooth and friendly. Tx all !"

(Alarmingly, another private bed) neighbouring sites, to name a few Lake Oeschinen, the tobogun run, the train station and the bus stop next to the hotel are all eight minutes' walk away. Get the city card from the hotel as a tip. The receptionist gave electric converter. Lift facility, hotel restaurant"

"We arrived late afternoon as stated to find that no-one was on the reception, just room keys with our names on. Our friend had an accident and badly injured her ankle late at night on the way back from a restaurant across the road. I rang the emergency number many times and no-one replied, there was no information anywhere regarding emergency medical care. When I complained the following morning the waitress/manager she denied ever receiving my call even though I showed her my phone log. Not a safe or well managed hotel, would not stay again."
