"Excellent central location with beautiful views of the lake and river. Close to decent traditional pubs and restaurants. Would definately recommend the Tap Bar (Hanger 32) - a self service bar - for both beer and food. We had to ask to change rooms as the original room had a strange smell and scaffolding outside where renovations were being done and builders were walking. New room was much better. There were no amenities in the room such as tea or coffee and no option to get one from reception apart from some hot water. Breakfast was tasty and filling."

"The hotel has a great location, right by the lake. If you have luggage, it's best to take bus number 4 directly from the train station to the hotel, as the train station is on a hilltop, and the hotel is a 650-meter downhill walk. The hotel staff at the front desk are exceptionally kind, very welcoming and attentive; importantly, the male staff are handsome and the female staff are beautiful. After check-in, remember to ask the hotel reception for a free public transport card, as they need to register your information and print it out, then you can ride the bus freely. The hotel breakfast is good, especially the window seats with a pleasant lake view. In such a beautiful setting as Lugano, taking a walk along the lake, enjoying the sunshine with relaxed locals, staying in such a historic and wonderful hotel, and meeting such wonderful people is truly a fantastic experience."

"If you want to use the budget Ibis, I do not recommend it at all, as the value of money does not suit the service provided. I do not recommend this hotel at all. There is no air conditioning, and if there is an air conditioner, it is shared, and you cannot control its cold. The room temperature was 40 degrees Celsius.😠 Overall 1 of 5 But the other IBIS hotel in the same building is better but not recommended also. The hotel location very good, brackets good. Overall 2 of 5 . "

"Felt like a home away from home—if you were the great-grandchild of a wealthy aristocrat who owned a villa in one of the most immaculate places on earth. Grand, yes, but somehow still cozy-feeling. Staff treated us like family, service was above and beyond, location made everything easily accessible, but you won't have to go too far as you'd be content spending day after day lounging by the lake, pool, lawn, or just in the well-appointed rooms."

"Review Mixed feelings I stayed on a weekend solo trip whilst working elsewhere in Switzerland, and have mixed feelings about this hotel. I booked this on the basis of the rave reviews on here, which I don’t really now understand - it’s fine but not great in my view. What’s good: - Beautiful public areas in the main building - Spa, pool & sun terrace have great furnishings, very comfortable and a stunning view of the lake - Breakfast buffet is excellent quality & included in room rate. Probably the nicest croissant ever. The staff kindly opened the terrace for me (it was 18 degrees & very sunny) - Some of the staff were kind and helpful, particularly at the reception & the spa desk - Very comfortable beds, lovely linen & towels - good night’s sleep! - Nice location, a little out of the main town (15 mins walk around the lake) so peaceful & quiet - Free shuttle to Lugano train station is a nice extra, although the public bus is very convenient Less good - My room was in an ugly 1970s building with a view of the carpark. I didn’t expect a lake view (it was an additional 200 CHF per night) but this was not exactly a “garden view” as described - The room & bathroom was cluttered with random stuff- promotional booklets, mini bar snacks, bottles of toiletries - there was no space to stand even a wash bag in the bathroom. There were 4 bottles of products balanced on the edge of the bath. Please wall mount the bottles & tidy up! - I asked to borrow an iron - the one they bought had a European plug & all the in-room plugs are Swiss, so it was unusable. I don’t expect everyone to speak perfect English but even google translate could not get me a working iron! I fail to understand why you’d not have the right iron plug for the hotel sockets… - At breakfast I was asked 3 times if they should open a parasol, I politely said “no” so the staff waited for me to go to the buffet & opened it anyway! I was cold in the shade so I just left my food, which was a disappointment - I had to ask for my free tourist card for transport & museum discounts. This should be provided to all guests, had I not been aware of it then I’d have missed out On balance, for me it was overpriced, for 450 CHF per night I will likely try somewhere else next time I come to town. Not a disaster but I feel there’s likely better choices. The Best Western next door is 1/3 of the cost…"

"Had such a wonderful stay at The View Lugano! Just like it's name, this lux hotel includes fantastic views of Lake Lugano and the town below. Rooms are uniquely designed and spacious. Size of hotel, location and very attentive staff made for a relaxing stay. Highlights include the amazing breakfast buffet and gorgeous pool area. We did not make use of the complimentary electric car but thought that was a terrific bonus considering the property is elevated (like a lot of the area). We definitely plan on returning to the area and look forward to visiting again."

" definitely do not recommend the hotel. For several reasons. The most important reason is the rude behavior of the owner. We spent only two nights in the hotel out of the planned five, precisely because of his behavior towards the guests. The hotel is supposed to have wifi available, it is stated on the hotel website. Unfortunately for us, as guests who wanted to plan excursions and can't do that without a connection, we were very politely asked twice (the first time nothing happened) if they would change our room or fix or check the signal. I should point out that it worked outside our room door, but not in our room. The owner came to the room, announced that everything was working and , that we had bad phones. We have an Apple 13. What followed was the worst disappointment of our vacation. When I told him we couldn't make it up, he literally said GO AWAY. His , in my opinion submissive wife tried to apologize and change the room but we did not stay after that experience. I was very amused when my husband paid for two nights and the owner told him his English wasn't very good so I guess I misunderstood the ejection. You can only laugh at this embarrassment. Also, beware of the rooms , they are not ventilated enough and on warm days you will not sleep there. But you have to take that into account, because it's without air conditioning. The third disappointment and I would like to warn all the guests is the parking. The hotel has a parking lot 100 meters away, which is for the guests of the hotel, but also the restaurant-unfortunately you may not find a place there. And to park in this area is absolutely impossible. This has already been mentioned by another guest. "

"I arranged my trip at very short notice, arrived very late, but Luca was there to welcome me to his Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and when my lift to the Airport didn’t arrive due to a landslide on the main road from Milan to Lugano, Luca offered to take me, without which, I would not have made my Flight home. In short, excellent location, great value for money and a perfect host!"

"The room is unimaginably large, and it is a luxury hotel with a very high cost-effectiveness. The kitchen is fully equipped, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lunogazha Lake and mountains from the huge balcony. The endless mountains opposite are like "planted" with houses. At night, the lights of thousands of houses are magnificent, and the green mountains, green waters, red tiles and yellow walls, the colorful and beautiful scenery is unparalleled. The breakfast on the second day was varied, colorful and delicious. We ate a lot of salmon and various fruits and vegetables, which made us like it so much that we didn't want to leave. If we hadn't booked a hotel in Lucerne on Ctrip, we would have stayed and enjoyed it. If we come again next time, we will definitely choose this one. After checking out, you can also book a hotel car to take you to the train station."

"Luganodante definitely like you (us)! Staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. Room is clean and cosy. Had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant/bistro - flame grill - awesome service! The only regret was staying there for just one night, wish we had stayed longer. Will definitely choose to stay at Luganodante again if we are back. Thank you team! IMPORTANT TIP: please take the funicular - Lugano Città - from the Lugano Stazione to the hotel (just stop outside the hotel, very convenient). If feeling adventurous, proceed to enjoy the walk/hike down to the hotel from the station."

Staff are lovely, helpful and friendly"
