Zoe Seaside Resort

Zoe Seaside Resort

📍 Gialova, Pylos
★★★★ 9.1 (38 reviews)

"If you're looking for an authentic Greek experience rather than another luxury resort that could be anywhere in the world, Zoe Resort is the perfect choice. Every aspect of our stay was exceptional. The staff treated us like family, the accommodations were comfortable and beautifully maintained, the amenities were outstanding, and the location couldn't have been better. We loved being within walking distance of a charming Greek town filled with local restaurants, shops, and friendly people. It felt like we were experiencing the real Greece rather than a manufactured tourist destination. For golfers, Zoe Resort is a hidden gem. It provides easy access to some of Greece's finest golf courses, and the twilight rates were an incredible value. One feature we especially appreciated was being able to rent high-quality golf clubs for five days for only €50, with the rental fee credited toward golf at any of the four championship courses. It made traveling much easier by eliminating the need to bring our own clubs while still enjoying a first-class golfing experience. Combined with the outstanding twilight rates, it's one of the best golf values we've found anywhere. The food was another highlight. Just a short walk away are wonderful beachfront tavernas serving authentic Greek cuisine at very reasonable prices. One of our favorites was Elia's, where I had dolmades stuffed with meat and covered in a delicious avgolemono sauce that tasted just like my Yia Yia used to make. Meals like that are part of what made this trip feel like a true visit to Greece. During our trip we also dined at some of the nearby luxury resorts. While they were beautiful, they felt overpriced, overly Americanized, and, at times, a bit pretentious. If that's the experience I wanted, I could have stayed home and visited one of the luxury resorts in Newport Beach. We travel halfway around the world to experience another culture—not to recreate the one we left behind. Zoe Resort delivered exactly what we were hoping for: genuine Greek hospitality, authentic food, incredible golf, and the chance to experience Greece as Greece. If we return to this beautiful part of the country, there is no question where we'll stay. Zoe Resort gave us memories we'll cherish for a lifetime, and I recommend it without hesitation."

Kyparissia Beach Hotel

Kyparissia Beach Hotel

📍 ΛΙΜΑΝΙ ΚΥΠΑΡΙΣΣΙΑΣ, ΑΝΩΝΥΜΟΥ 1, Kiparissia, Kyparissia
★★★ 8.6 (47 reviews)

"We had a lovely stay at Kyparissia Beach Hotel. We loved the pool, the stunning sunset views, the delicious breakfasts and seeing the turtles in the harbour everyday! Kyparissia Old Town up the hill was beautiful and we very much enjoyed the Castle and the Old Watermill. It was early in the season but the nearby Pememntzo Taverna in the marina was just perfect! Everyone at the hotel was really lovely but the guys at reception were especially great, sorting us out car hire, suggesting places to go and connecting us with Myriad Paths and Stasinopoulos Winery for an amazing wine tasting and Greek cooking experience. Highly recommended!"

Rex Hotel

Rex Hotel

📍 Aristomenous 26, Kalamata
★★★★ 8.0 (24 reviews)

"This particular hotel looked like a nice hotel from the outside. We went on a two-day trip with my class. When we entered the room, we saw a lot of dust, at first the bathroom smelled bad, the beds we didn't make and we went to sit down and there were hairs and fluff and the duvets had stains. Also, the furniture that you paint had soda splashes and had coffee stains stuck to it. There were crumbs next to the bed. When we called the reception twice, she never came, we were forced to go downstairs and their answer was that one class was leaving and the other was coming straight away, as a result of which they didn't have time to clean them properly. They came to sweep us with a hand broom and didn't even tell us to change rooms and we changed only because we asked for it and in that room the towels were with yellow stains and when we asked them the next day for towels they told us that because we were leaving in 4 hours there was no reason to give us more. Overall it was a very bad experience and I wouldn't go back. The staff was rude."

★★★ 8.6 (48 reviews)

"We stayed two nights at the Karalis City Hotel and had a nice experience. It’s a good value for the cost. The breakfast spread was good with lots of options. We filled up and didn’t need lunch. Some fresh fruit would have been nice, they served canned peaches. The beds were a little firm for our taste, but the room itself was spacious and comfortable. Nice view of the harbor from our balcony. Roomy bathroom that was spotless. Appreciated the daily room clean. This was a perfect base for the area, great location near the square and lots of restaurants. There are a handful of parking spaces directly across from the hotel and a large public parking lot at the harbor down below."

Grecotel Filoxenia Hotels in Messenia

Grecotel Filoxenia

"Last week of our family trip to Greece was at the Grecotel Filoxenia in Kalamata. This is one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed at. The ocean, pools, facilities and rooms are all amazing, but the staff is the highlight. Our daughter had her 10yr birthday and they went out of their way to help her celebrate it. Wonderful people! Highly recommend this hotel/resort and we will definitely be returning in the future."

Messinian Icon Hotel & Suites Hotels in Messenia

Messinian Icon Hotel & Suites

"We absolutely adored our stay here! The beds were incredibly comfortable, making it the best sleep of our vacation. The deck was truly wonderful, and the pools were nothing short of fantastic. To top it all off, the breakfast was great, especially the cappucino. A nice outdoor setting for a meal. It's the perfect spot to unwind and rejuvenate. Be sure not to miss out on visiting Ancient Messene, and if you're looking for some excellent dining options, check out Taverna Agrilia (just a few steps away) and Ksimeroma (down on the main road)."

The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino Hotels in Messenia

"Poorly cleaned room and very poor service. This hotel offers many family packages, but the service is poor. The resort is large and has a large pool and a large beach."

W Costa Navarino Hotels in Messenia

"Very beautiful property by the beach with magnificent bay views. Rooms are big and modern with very comfy beds and pillows. Several pools with plenty of sunloungers and extra fluffy towels. Very good quality breakfast with extensive choice, and many food options for dinner in the Agora “village” within the premises. The only issue is the service at breakfast, which is lacklustre and feels a bit chaotic. All in all, I will recommend this hotel and will be glad to stay here again!"

Panorama Resort Hotels in Messenia

Panorama Resort

"Lovely clean hotel/ apartments with views to the little town and the sea. Sunbeds and umbrellas around the pool area but could do with a few more. Rooms cleaned every day with beds and towels changed every other day. Staff were friendly and helpful especially Alex the barman/waiter who put himself out and is an asset to the place. The only negative would be the breakfast could do with topping up regularly as sometimes the fruit and drinks were minimal and on a few occasions, guests had to ask staff to for them to be topped up. On the whole, a lovely relaxing stay. "

"We visited the area for family holidays and chose to stay in this hotel. The experience was a wonderful, quiet and comfortable room, very spacious and clean. The huge parking space with a parking possibility just outside our room was very convenient. For a three-part family like ours was what we needed, with all the necessary comforts (refrigerator, tv, wifi) The personal noble and friendly. The beach along the hotel's beach bar was terrific easy especially for those with children."

Ira-Hpa Hotel Hotels in Messenia

Ira-Hpa Hotel

"This is a great hotel. Centrally located, very clean, comfortable beds and good sized rooms (we had superior double with balcony). The staff are fabulous and can’t do enough to help. They arranged our transfers to and from the airport, somehow managed to book what I think must have been the best table in the house at Kastraki, and arranged a taxi to take us there. Can’t recommend highly enough."

Hotel Estia Hotels in Messenia

Hotel Estia

"Thank you Hotel Estia for an unforgettable week in the heart of beautiful Finikounda. Your hospitality was second to none, providing an exceptional base for our adventures to Koroni, the enchanting waterfalls of Polylimnio, and historic Pylos. Natura Club Hotel & Spa - Adults Only Hotels in Messenia

Natura Club Hotel & Spa - Adults Only

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this well maintained, family run hotel with beautiful sea views over the bay of Kiparissia. We stayed in junior suite 104. It was spacious and clean, with good facilities as detailed. The large bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. Large balcony to appreciate the view and take in the sunset. The bedding and towels were changed every two days. Rooms cleaned daily. Towels for the pool provided on request at reception. Coffee making facility provided (kettle & Cups) coffee and sugar provided on arrival along with bottled water, but not replenished daily. The swimming pool was really nice, cleaned daily. All staff were polite and friendly. Dimitrious and Yannis were particularly helpful recommending places to visit or answering any questions you may have. The breakfast selection was extensive with hot and cold options and a good range of continental choice. We dined in the restaurant in the evening on a couple of occasions which was nice with a good ambience. If like us you like to get out and about and explore, you definitely need a car. There are a number of restaurants in Kalo Nero and Kiparissia worth visiting. With regard to the whirlpool, this is based on the ground level shared between Junior suites 101 to 105. We did not get round to using the spa facilities as we were only there for a week. We visited Olympia which is practically a must do. If you have a car it is easy to get there and only about 40 minutes drive. 20 euros pp admission which gets you entry to the site and museum. We had pre booked a coach excursion which cost £63 each through jet2 before we decided to book a hire car. With hindsight we would have made our own way there, as this did not include the 20 euros pp entrance fee! Lake Kaiafas is peaceful and scenic and worth a visit. We also visited Palace of Nestor and Tholos Tomb 10 euros pp entry, worth visiting. Kiparissia Castle is free entry but with limited access due to health and safety matters. Worth a visit for the views and nearby tavernas. There are a lot of nice beaches to visit in the area, however in May the season is just beginning so not many were up and running with provision of sunbeds. Some beach bars were yet to open. Overall we had an enjoyable relaxing stay."

The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino Hotels in Messenia

The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, Costa Navarino

"The Romanos is the more polished hotel to its Westin cousin which share the same property. Our two partial sea-view connecting rooms had a lovely view of the golf course and ocean beyond with plenty of space and good finishes. A malfunctioning air conditioner early in our stay was quickly remedied with multiple follow-ups by guest services to ensure our comfort was being met. We ate dinner at Nargile, Flame, Onuki, and Parafrasi - all of which were excellent - though Onuki is the standout. We had lunch at Souvlakerie, which was an easy and quick place to grab lunch in between activities, as well as Barbouni, which offers a great lunch spot on the beach with traditional Greek options. Pero had a terrific and vast buffet, which met everyone’s needs. Buggies come right away once guest services is notified of the request, and every staff member that we engaged with, from the buggy drivers to the servers, were very friendly. It’s also worth noting that they have the most plush, spa-like towels available at the pools and beach. Last but not least, the aqua park with its 3 water slides provided hours of enjoyment - for both the kids and the adults - everyone loved waterslide #1! All in all, The Romanos is a polished 5 star resort worth visiting."

"Hotel no complaints. The location is dreadful, its very hilly and therefore you need a taxi to go to the square and the old town. We would not go back just because the location. Breakfast is the same everyday so gets boring. We did have a kettle in our room as we upgraded. Beware it very very hilly"

Rex Hotel ★★★★
"What to make of the Rex? It should be better than it is. Situated in a building with a splendid historic facade, the interior is drab and tired. Our greeting was cordial, our reservation in order, and we were pleased the desk seemed to be staffed 24/7. The elevator worked most of the time. There is much to like, and much that could be improved. If location is everything, the Rex has this in spades with no viable competition anywhere near. The fun bars and small shops of Old Town, such as the amazing spice store, are almost just out the door. The castle is a ten-minute walk, the fabulous farmers market is barely five. Plentiful and inexpensive city parking is available in the lots across the street. My fee for overnight was €4.50. An unexpected off-season bonus was that with so few guests, instead of the buffet you get a table-served breakfast virtually made-to-order. But the room was very clean and totally charmless. Amenities included a safe, a tiny TV, a fridge and an antique hair dryer with a hose like a vacuum cleaner. And that’s it. The wardrobe had excellent drawer space but three hangers as if resigned to only short-term stays. Free wi-fi with a good signal, but a shocking lack of outlets for your devices. The marble bathtub was deep, but the towels were thin. No coffee service. The mattress was the hardest I’ve slept on in a long time; however, surprisingly, I got a good night’s rest. The streets were quiet, the heat worked. The modest room rate reflects all these things, and in the end goes a long way to my rating that the Rex is in fact a good, economical choice. They know what they’re working with and charge fairly for it. Don't expect a luxury stay, but if you want to be downtown, this is an easy place to be."
