"Hello , when you will return my over charged $ 1500? My friend and I stayed at City Blue Hotel Mombasa, Kenya on December 25, 2025. The next morning when we checked out, a staff member named Cynthia made a huge mistake with the billing—she charged my credit card 1,500 US dollars incorrectly, even though my actual total cost was only 5150 Kenya shillings. The hotel team apologized right away and promised the overcharged amount would be refunded to me by the Tuesday. But that promise turned out to be empty. I’ve waited for a full month, sending repeated emails and asking local friends to call the hotel to follow up. Yet, there’s been absolutely no response from them—no updates, no explanation, nothing. It’s incredibly frustrating to be left hanging like this over such a clear billing error. I just want the money that’s rightfully mine back, and it’s disappointing that the hotel isn’t honoring their refund promise or even communicating with me. What is the attitude of the hotel's senior management regarding this billing error? I want to receive my refund as soon as possible."

"The meals were delicious every time. The sea was right there, the sand was beautiful, and it was nice to sit back and relax and look at the ocean. One of the reasons I chose a seaside hotel was because I wanted to spend time listening to the sound of the waves, and my wish came true. I was satisfied with everything. It's a hotel I'd like to come to again."

PrideInn Hotel Nyali ★★★

📍 Behind Nakumatt Nyali, Maheshi Doshi Road, 2nd Avenue, Mombasa

"A small cozy hotel with a good atmosphere. The breakfast is decent, you won't go hungry. The room is small, you can only fit two suitcases, but it was enough for us for 2 days. African music plays by the pool, it was atmospheric. The location is safe, for us, two girls, it was very important! We had lunch and dinner in the department, everything was delicious. Good cocktails. I can recommend!!"

"We recently finished our holiday to Kenya and Tanzania at Voyager Resort. We were both surprised to find I'd booked an all inclusive package and it was excellent! Our booked garden view room ending up having a view of the ocean. It was amazing. Great staff, really good food, same with the included drinks. Loved the Outlook Bar. It's a big resort but it didn't ever feel crowded. Now if they could have just guaranteed the sun it would have been perfect :)"

"If I hadn’t mentioned it, no one would have known about the remote. I was charged KES 5,900 simply because I was in the middle of checking out and trying to catch my train. A replacement remote does not cost KES 5,000. Milkah, I’m very disappointed with how this situation has been handled and with the way we have been treated as guests. Rather than investigating what happened, the responsibility was immediately placed on us and we were charged without sufficient justification. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very negative impression, and I will be reflecting it in my review."

Travellers Beach Hotel & Spa

Travellers Beach Hotel & Spa ★★★★

"Workers in that hotel are the most ****** people I have ever met . Being a Kenyan like them , I felt disrespected, and looked down on . Most probably I looked like I couldn’t afford being in “white area “ . There is ****** during meals , waiters constantly asking you if you are in the company of a white man . If not , then they tell you are in the wrong seat . I couldn’t even get meals comfortably , ended up having breakfast only . Mind you , I paid for all inclusive . Going to the beach and coming in ,soldiers asking you if you are in the correct place like what!! I was right behind three white individuals . I asked the soldier why he asked me and didn’t ask them . He got embarrassed and knew exactly what I meant . Am I that raggedy to now afford the deluxe side of Travellers . I solo travel to Coast , every time I am in the country and this has to be the worst hotel I have set my foot in. I do not recommend if you are a solo traveller . Maybe carry your white friend , you might get better treatment. Locations- Good Food - Good Service - Pathetic to black people especially Kenyans Do better !!!"

"The hygiene was excellent, though the facilities were a bit dated. Service was great. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and it wasn't crowded, which was ideal for someone who likes peace and quiet. There's a small activity room and two swimming pools. The food was just okay."

"This is a wonderful place and unique on the Kenyan north coast. Not as noisy, huge, impersonal as other big beach resorts along Bamburi Beach, but very welcoming, with a personal touch, cozy and with all amenities one needs during a work trip or beach vacation. I came for 3,5 weeks and had known it from before (2023) when I had tried out the (delicious!) Indian vegetarian restaurant. I did not regret my stay at all: I worked quietly and with some good progress on the beach front veranda, with the very friendly and helpful staff reading all wishes from my lips (or engaging in a nice conversation here and there). The very kind owner, Nitin, invited me for lunch, or for a drink, several times during my stay, but equally gave me and all others all the space I/one needed. The rooms have AC, a fridge, kitchen amenities on the balconies, hot water, water kettle, TV, wifi, and most of the time during my stay I had very stable internet and solid electricity (when there was none, the generator was switched on – these tiny breaks were not at all the fault of Ziwa staff but due to the construction works on the main highway connecting Mombasa and Malindi). Nice and sufficient breakfast (it remains needless to say that there is less variety than in the big resorts – which the hotel also clearly states, but there is fresh, sufficient and diverse food, very tasty and healthy), perfect dinner choice in the à-la-carte restaurant (at a very good price!) and very easy-going vibe: You are free to move and do as you please (not like some of the bigger resorts around where you wait for towels forever, where you are not allowed to take towels to the beach, or where security checks you each time you get back to the veranda or on the hotel grounds...), freedom everywhere at all times. No problem to jump into the pool at midnight (did this several times – should not try this in the many other hotels next door which I have tried out since my first stay in Kenya in 2006). A wonderfully relaxed time and... already booked my next stay, will come back for another work trip in August/September 2024, and I bring several friends and colleagues this time. Thank you Ziwa and thanks Nitin and staff. This was amazing. See you soon! Nico/Germany"

"Lovely hotel but needs paint and upkeep. Tiles are broken, rrailings too. We stayed for 5 days and broken window glass in the main restsurant was not replaced!! Looked so tacky. It's not a cheap hotel.  Staff were friendly and cheerful.  Breakfast. MUST be improved. Choices are enough but standard of cooked dishes is appalling. Eg its Mombasa full of Swahili dishes, yet their mahambri is biscuit hard and they dont use the correct beans for mbazi. They could source them in from old town  if they don't have the right chefs.  I gave them feedback and they were very polite and heard me out. Thank you."

Neptune Beach Resort - All Inclusive

"We went there fo a family holiday. We were on all inclusive package and because we got there at 4pm,we were directed to the snacks bar. The options there are very limited as its only hotdogs ,sandwiches and fries.I feel like they want to offer all inclusive package but at minimal cost on their end. We dont take alcohol,so i do not know if its covered. We then went to the rooms and i loved the rooms. Problem is ,both of our rooms were so dusty and i had to call the reception for them to be cleaned again. Both rooms had toilets in dire need of descaling, actually, even toilets in the public areas . Come on guys, buy a discaler and clean the toilets. The towels need to be bleached as they are white but look off white. The rooms supplies were generous. The food....My goodness...This is where you will know that the chef is on tight budget. The dessert is very minimal and very repetitive. By the second day ,i knew what to expect on the dessert. As in its a joke. The proteins all taste the same from the chicken, fish and beef. Its bad...I am lacking words to express how bad the food experience was.The pork/lamb is nice though. I would go round the buffet with my family and sometimes lack something interesting to eat.The service staff, good job.We were told there is an animation team, well, apart from Phillis, its nonexistant. The two other guys ,their main job is to lounge around the snack bar with alot of stories to their colleagues. After i requested, the head of animation came to us but told us he is not in charge of kids but we told him we wanted him to engage the kids as we were still around.I got tired and didnt approach him again.Thank God Phillis came the next day. What a nice lady and good with children. The third day, there was another animation guy who didnt approach us at all but was around the snack bar. Came the fourth day and the safe refused to open as were departing. Long story short,we missed our sgr as our all our valuables were inside there. Shock on me that there was maintenance technician on duty .We had to be in Nairobi the next day and we had to pay for our flights as the hotel refused to cover the cost and the sgr was fully booked for the day. Then they leave a manager in charge...an IT manager who has no power to make decisions and kept calling a Madam Ruth. Why would you leave a manager in charge who has no authority? We were eventually paid the tickets after we threatened to engage our lawyers and also involved the tourism bodies.Overall,a bad experience"

"Traveling with my son, we booked a package that includes three meals. This is an older hotel, the decoration is not new, but the overall maintenance is still very good, the management is standardized, and the staff is well-trained. The architectural planning of the entire park is well-arranged, with the relaxation and stretching of a resort hotel, the gardens and plants are well maintained, and there is its own private beach. The swimming pool uses sea water, which is comfortable. The view and scale of the room are quite comfortable. When the weather is good, dinner is in the open air. The singer's voice is very mellow, and there is a dance performance afterwards (the dancers should be hotel employees,) The atmosphere is very good. During the day, there will be someone smiling at you anywhere in the hotel? And ask if you need help or service. Special thanks to Pamela, her interaction and companionship with the children left a deep impression on the children, and my son likes her very much. In addition to the interaction by the pool and at dinner, they also made bracelets together. Let the children have a relaxing and happy time. The only drawback is that there are almost no vegetables at breakfast, and the flavor is relatively simple compared to dinner. If I come again next time, I probably won’t consider this mode of including three meals."
