Mountain View Hotels in Tai'an

Just as I've reviewed before, the photos match the actual room perfectly. What surprised me most was the design of the bathtub. The room also had a weight scale, body lotion, and laundry detergent. After climbing Mount Tai (from Hongmen to Zhongtianmen, Nantianmen, and Yuhuangding), even after a massage (there's a spa downstairs with an 18% discount for guests) and stretching, my thighs were still sore. A hot bath was incredibly soothing. Not immersing my lower body completely really helped with lactic acid dissipation, allowing me to continue climbing the East Imperial Road the next morning. On the B2 level, there's a chain restaurant (Lucai Gen), and their double meal is more than enough. There's also a gym and a laundry room. I also asked the front desk if I could heat up my packed food in the staff microwave, which was great! The breakfast also featured local specialties like jianbing with green onions and qiangguo noodles. Very good! If I come to Mount Tai again, I'll definitely stay here.

Stay here for a day to climb Mount Tai. The couple running the hotel are very friendly. The hotel is very near to the Hongmen entrance. Walking sticks can be borrowed at the hotel. Deposit lugguage when we checkout and collect it back the next day after we came back from a night over on Mount Tai. The hotel is clean and modern. The lady boss gave a bottle of water before leaving.

The guesthouse is perfectly situated at the foot of Mount Tai, just a short walk from the Hongmen Visitor Center. Our room was spotless and cozy, the small courtyard was wonderfully quiet, and the overall design was quite tasteful (I regret forgetting to take photos!). The owner is incredibly warm and cheerful, and even kindly offered pick-up and drop-off service near Hongmen. We had planned to climb the mountain the following day, but the weather forecast predicted rain, making us worried about our itinerary. To our relief, the owner checked a cloud map, confidently assured us it wouldn't rain, and even helped us plan the perfect route. True to their word, the next day was beautifully cool and refreshing, resulting in an absolutely fantastic experience. Thanks to contacting the owner in advance for some excellent packing advice, we were well-prepared and didn't have to carry any unnecessary luggage. Overall, a truly wonderful stay!

The room, bedding, and everything else were very clean, unlike other B&Bs with various issues (like a sagging part of the bed). There's also a washing machine available. The room didn't feel damp at all. Plus, the inn is right next to the Taishan Hongmen Tourist Center, which is super convenient. The surrounding area is also quite quiet. Finally, the two owners are genuinely wonderful people, very welcoming and enthusiastic. As a solo traveler, I absolutely loved it here!

This hotel definitely deserves a five-star rating! My room was incredibly spacious, and they even upgraded my room type and gave a complimentary breakfast for my child, which had a great variety. The night view from the 24th floor was amazing. There's a mall nearby with a popular stir-fried chicken place (expect a queue!), and a small night market. The hotel has an adjoining ground-level parking lot; just give your license plate number to the front desk when you leave, and parking is free, which is super convenient. Even though prices went up during the May Day holiday, it was still very reasonably priced compared to other hotels. If you come during off-peak times, the value for money would be exceptional. The only minor downside is the lack of a mini-fridge in the room. It felt a bit odd, especially since they provided a Dyson hairdryer – you'd expect a standard amenity like a fridge. The hotel is about 9 kilometers from Tianwai Village at Mount Tai, roughly a 20-minute drive. You can park at Taishan Hospital, which is right across from Tianwai Village. Just make sure to park before 7:30 AM.

We chose this hotel mainly because of the lovely photos online. We thought that although Tai’an itself may not have much to do, we could at least spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying the room and the courtyard before our hike. However, the actual experience was quite different from what we expected. In reality, the courtyard felt rather unkempt and not as inviting as shown in the photos. The hotel also seemed unusually empty—we hardly saw any other guests, and no staff around during our stay, which made the atmosphere feel somewhat quiet and unattended. We had hoped to spend some time relaxing outdoors, but that wasn’t really possible. The wind was strong, and with the harsh sunlight, sitting outside comfortably was difficult. Dust and sand were also blowing around the courtyard. The most uncomfortable part of the stay was that the hotel’s central air-conditioning system broke down while we were there and was only fixed around midnight. Because of the dust and the emptiness outside, we were reluctant to keep the door open for ventilation. As a result, we had to go to sleep in a stuffy and rather warm room for hours while waiting for the air-conditioning to come back on. Overall, the stay was manageable for one night, but it did feel disappointing given how appealing the property looked in the photos. We had chosen this hotel hoping for a comfortable and relaxing stop before our Taishan climb, but unfortunately the actual experience didn’t quite match that expectation.

1. Two families traveled together and booked the same room type. We were offered a choice between a hard and soft bed, and we chose the soft one. However, we regretted it; it was too soft. Sitting on the edge, the bed sank in too much, providing no support. Lying down completely was fine, it didn't sink too deep. 2. I found hair and dust bunnies on the floor, which suggests it wasn't cleaned properly. 3. Everything except the dental kit and disposable face towels was charged, which was a first for me. There was no tissue box or complimentary water provided in the room. Usually, hotels provide two bottles of water and a small pack of tissues. I assumed they would, so I didn't bring any, which was very inconvenient. 4. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was broken. It only blew air, no cold air, so it basically functioned as a fan. Even then, it only reached half of one bed, and the airflow was unstable and intermittent. The other two people couldn't feel any air at all. We were sweating all night, constantly waking up and couldn't sleep. I had to stand under the AC for a bit to get some air. It's old and broken and needs replacing. The owner refunded some of the cost when we checked out early, but we didn't get a good night's sleep, and the kids were grumpy. We felt lethargic all day and still had to go hiking – it was a miserable day.

The room was very clean and I slept great. The breakfast was also very generous (I cleaned my plate, this picture was just taken before I finished eating). All in all, I have no complaints, and the price is very reasonable. I passed by this hotel many times as a child, and I finally decided to come and experience it myself.

The B&B was a surprise. It is located by the water. The scenery is pleasant, quiet and warm. The room is comfortable and spacious. The boss gave me fruits. There is a large bathtub and a disposable bathtub cover is provided, so I took a nice soak. Breakfast is a fixed set meal, which includes boiled eggs, milk, grilled sausages, custard buns, rice porridge, stir-fried vegetables, pickles and noodles. If it is not enough, you can add more. The next day, they also made egg fried rice at our request, which was very considerate. The chef is very capable, and all the dishes he ordered taste great. I like the prawns braised with cabbage, beans braised with pork ribs, and hand-shredded cabbage. It's right next to the bus stop, and you can take the mountain bus in 10 minutes' walk.

Summary: Overall, this is a totally adequate place to rest near the mountaintop and catch the sunrise. The location is good, and for around 500 RMB, getting a large room with air conditioning and a private bathroom is definitely better than staying in a dorm with a shared bathroom. However, the musty smell in the room and the warped, aging furniture and bathroom fixtures mean it's only suitable for a short stay. The hotel doesn't offer a wake-up call service, so you'll need to set your own alarm. Service management is quite basic. At the hotel restaurant, the two cheapest dinner items are stir-fried noodle soup for 29 RMB and mutton soup for 39 RMB, which is reasonably fair compared to 15 RMB instant noodles outside. Pros: 1. Located at the end of Tianjie (Heavenly Street), it's very quiet. The hotel organizes sunrise-viewing trips to Dongyaoguan Peak that take only 40 minutes with almost no uphill climbing, and it's just 20 minutes to Riguan Peak. 2. The air conditioning heating works very well. 3. The room is very large, with a small balcony for stargazing at night. 4. Standard bedding that doesn't disrupt sleep. Cons: 1. The bathroom shower faucet leaks slightly, water pressure is unstable, and the non-slip mat in the shower has a distinct musty smell. The bathroom floor is higher than the bedroom, and the step is smooth-surfaced with no anti-slip measures, making it very easy to slip. 2. There is a musty smell near the bedside. 3. The window hinges are warped, especially the one in the bathroom, requiring some effort to open or close. I hope everyone gets to see the sunrise they're hoping for, and that the hotel fixes these minor issues as soon as possible.
