"Environment: Very good. It's a pleasant surprise to find a hotel like this in this small city."

"Nice customer service. There are plenty of breakfast options."

"I booked afternoon tea for two at Killeavy Castle Estate entirely by telephone and later called to pay the full amount in advance. During neither call was I told about a 48-hour cancellation policy or warned that the entire payment would be retained for a late cancellation or non-attendance. Unfortunately, my guest cancelled unexpectedly approximately one hour after I paid. I immediately called the Estate and requested a refund. They took all my contact details but did not tell me that the refund would be refused. Had they done so, I could have attended and used the booking myself. The following day I received an automated message thanking me for visiting, although I had not attended. I received no telephone call, but was later told that they had tried to call me three times. My telephone records show no missed calls from the Estate on either day. When I contacted them again, I was told that they would retain the full payment because I had not cancelled 48 hours in advance. My objection is not that businesses have cancellation policies; it is that this condition was never disclosed when I booked or paid by telephone, and I was never sent or directed to any applicable terms. Their public FAQ says late cancellations “may” incur charges and refers to the date of “arrival.” It does not clearly tell telephone customers that a late afternoon-tea cancellation will automatically cost the full amount. I have asked management to review the matter and provide evidence showing when this term was communicated to me. I will update this review if they resolve the complaint fairly."

"Great price and lovely hotel"

"Beautiful setting, clean and cosy comfortable cottages.. Would recommend."

"I booked online and asked for a back room away from the street but we got a front room. We were wakened at 5 Am by traffic noise and banging from below our room. I was exhausted the whole day through lack of sleep. I would hate to same the other accommodations if this is No1. The food in the restaurant was good and the breakfast average, , but we won’t go back and couldn’t recommend"

"The Good: Beautiful hotel, friendly staff (especially Sandur), easy to park, breakfast included. Bottled water in room. The not so good: No soundproofing in the rooms, you hear everything in adjoining rooms and in the hallway. Black pudding on the breakfast menu but none available 2 days in a row. Personal dislikes: Bed and pillows were too hard for me. Overall a good hotel."
