"What a lovely surprise! This guesthouse is a former farmhouse, wonderfully renovated . The staff is extremly frienlyy and helpful, espescially Hugo, the manager. Food is excellent and freshly prepared, the garden is beautiful. Its only a short distance off the main road and a perfect stopover on or off your way to Kruger. You even could stay there longer, relax in the garden or do a game drive in the nearby Saragossa Park. Our suite was huge. Highly recommended."

"We stayed two nights and was spoiled by the service. Rooms are neat and clean, breakfast was more that perfect. Haven’t had a great omelet like that at any restaurant. Old house with the beautiful stained glass and surrounded by lush gardens is fitting to the name The Highland Rose Country House. Spa is well equipped and had a great back massage. "

"I loved the receiving area; The shared space for dining area, lounging and bar area - as well as the patio/deck area. The rooms are creatively done with pleasant seasonal themes, and elements of nature. What I did not appreciate were the food portions versus the price-tags. Examples: 1. The chakalaka serving always seemed as though one only got a single heaped spoonful on the plate (serving bowl). 2. On the first night there I asked for sweet potato as my side and was told they have run out, so I was given butternut and when I asked when they'd re-stock I wasn't even given a promising response. 3. My colleague asked for juice and we were told there is none available, just carbonated drinks, without any promise of re-stocking soon. 4. Instead of the typical carbonated drink options they offered I asked for Dry Lemon and was denied, even though I could see some cans of it plainly through the glass bar-fridge. On the second night, I insisted on the Dry Lemon drinks and highlighted the other disappointments and only then was given the cans of the preferred drink. I enjoyed the physical stay in terms of comfortability and amenities, but the matter of food service and customer-focus can be improved. Customer feedback needs to be prioritised."

"I really cannot rate this place enough!! I have never written a review before and we have stayed all around the world. It really is the MOST magical place! The grounds are absolutely beautiful! On my evening runs I was 2 metres away from zebras! SO much wildlife! The horses are so beautiful and treated amazingly- tehey are let out every evening to roam the grounds freely and come back themselves every morning. I saw some horrible reviews so was nervous which is why I had to write. I cannot fault the place! The staff were amazing, the food was amazing. Make sure when you check in you ask for a map and ask for everything they have on offer as they don't really advertise. I would recommend on day 1 going for a long walk around the grounds and getting a feel for the place. The two restaurants are on opposite ends of the property so you have to drive and one is closer to games area and other side closer to reception where you book everything. So many amazing places for fly fishing (the kids and I had a lesson which we loved) and also the horse rides are an absolute must! We were walking at sunset through a huge zeal of zebras! It really was so amazing! We went from here to Camps bay in Cape Town and I preferred here. The rooms aren't fancy here more lot cabin like but very comfortable and well built two stories w kitchen/ bathroom/ large bedrooms and comfy beds. But the place is so beautiful you won't be in your rooms much! Dunks the town was quaint and gorgeous too with lovely shops and restaurants. Can you tell I loved the place haha . We will be back!!!"

"Whe had to book accommodation at short notice and the owner of this place really went out of his way to accommodate us. We had a lovely room. Breakfast was delicious. The owner made us feel so welcome. We had a short stay but it was the best stay ever. The facility was neat and tidy. Food was excellent. Very luxurious and the owner very friendly and approachable. Will recommend this place at any time."
