Booked 2 rooms at Makarun Heritage Rooms. - Rooms were lovely, clean and comfortable. - Premium location, in the heart of old town, a few steps from Diocletian Palace, Riva, Split's port and shops. Old town is fully pedestrian, but drop-off from taxi is literally 3min away. - Breakfast was also great, served at the table. - Communication with Mario prior to arrival was efficient. Upon check-in and until we left, Toma was amazing. Everything was detailed to ensure a smooth stay. We really felt privileged. Highly recommended !

This is an intimate 5-room establishment situated amidst the alleys of the Old Town, hence cars cannot drop passengers at the doorstep. Easy enough to catch a shuttle bus for EUR 8 from the airport to the bus station at the port, from which a Makarun staff will meet you and assist you with your luggage to the hotel, a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast is a la carte, as is to be expected for such a small establishment, comprising 3 courses - pastry/toast, eggs of your choice with cold cuts, and a dessert, complemented by tea coffee and/or juice. Food was more than adequate in terms of quantity and quality. My room was comfortable enough, though 2 issues were noticeable: * Instead of a flat cotton bed sheet, there was a fitted sheet made of what seemed like jersey, and looked more like a mattress protector.This was pilled and coarse, in contrast to the far smoother cotton quilt cover. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they explained that this is standard for the hotel. Whilst it did not affect the quality of my sleep, the coarseness of the sheet wasn't entirely pleasant * In the bathroom, the shower was mounted at waist height, hence one either had to hold the shower in one hand, or, if there was a need to use both hands to wash, then one would have to crouch under the shower while it was in its holder. Not particularly convenient. Overall a comfortable stay in a convenient location, enhanced by the friendly and solicitous Ivan and Mario.

Top experience all round! We were picked up from the taxi by Toni on arrival in Split, made welcome with delicious snacks of lical produce and wine and enjoyed the A/C in our tastefully decorated room on an incredibly hot day. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, local Croatian delicacies and - with the hotel very centrally located, but hidden away in a small alley off the beaten track - the night was blissfully quiet. Highly recommended!

I’ve had a lovely 5 day stay here, above the restaurant in a heavily touristy area but we are tucked away from the noise and crowds and central to lots of places. The room is spotless, comfortable and generously appointed. The staff are friendly, the food is fabulous and generous and I would certainly return here.

From start to finish this place is excellent. They treat you with such kindness and respect. Ivan is a wonderful host. I left my entire jewelry box here and they went out of their way to return it back to me. I am so incredibly grateful. THANK YOU THANK YOU! Highly recommend staying here! We will be returning!

This place is exceptional!! Truly I felt like a VIP guest the entire time. The whole staff is amazing. They always made us feel very welcomed. Toni helped us check in and carried our luggage from the parking lot. He provided us with several reccomendations as well. Very personable and he went above and beyond. He even helped us figure out laundry. Ivan helped us a lot as well. Listen to him when you order eggs too. We had the loft room so it had balcony. Great for people watching and enjoying a drink (honestly really great Aperol Spritz here). The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Also the location cannot be beat. Everything is less than a 10 minute walk. Lastly, NEVER skip breakfast here unless you want a life of regrets. Super fresh and flavorful.
