"Disappointing Stay. Below the Standard I Expected from a name such as BW. I arrived in Sudbury for a family gathering and, after an issue with my Airbnb accommodation, needed to find a hotel on short notice. I chose Best Western expecting a clean, reliable place to stay, but unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. When I arrived, I was approached outside the hotel by an unhoused individual asking for money. While I understand that this is not necessarily something the hotel can control, it did not make for a particularly comfortable arrival. Once inside, there was a very strong and pungent odour coming from a nearby restaurant that was noticeable throughout the lobby. The room itself was also problematic. The lighting was extremely poor, with only a dim amber light near the entrance initially working, giving the room a rather dark and unwelcoming atmosphere. The lights around the bed were also not functioning. Staff did move me to another room, which I appreciated. The second room had working general lighting, although the bedside lights still did not work. The following morning, I discovered there was no hot water available for a shower, which was particularly frustrating. I understand that individual maintenance issues can happen, and I appreciated the staff moving me to another room when I raised the lighting problem. However, having multiple basic issues with the room and hotel during a short stay made the overall experience considerably below what I expected from Best Western. I had expected a cleaner, better-maintained property with more consistent standards. Unfortunately, this hotel did not meet those expectations."

"I flew to Toronto, Canada with my friends from Hong Kong. This is the third hotel. I booked two standard rooms, one for five nights and one for six nights. The hotel facilities are average, but the rooms are clean and tidy. The stay was good. The front desk staff provided very good services in the past few days. They were very proactive and enthusiastic. When I checked out today, the boy's service was not good. It took about an hour to communicate with the front desk before checking out. I was furious. I originally stayed until the 8th. In a fit of anger, I cancelled the order for another room. There was no breakfast. I personally think the price is more affordable. I probably won't consider staying next time."

"Sketchy area in middle of nowhere. Booked via Trip and prepaid - front desk clerk had “no clue what Trip.com was” and afterwords tried to recharge my card before reminding him it’s already paid. Had to physically show him my email receipt and confirmation as proof. Then he had to double check with his “manager”. When I saw him later, he asked if I would be able to cancel my booking (non-refundable) via Trip, and pay directly through him because he “still hasn’t received payment”. I adamantly declined this and insisted he take it up with Trip himself. The facilities are dark, dingy, and outdated. The smell of must and smoke hits you from the minute you walk in the lobby. The room, although being recently “renovated” was as basic as can get. Two firm, uncomfortable mattresses with only one pillow provided per person. When I pulled back the sheets on the first bed, there was a long brownish stain plus hairs scattered everywhere on both beds. No coffee maker, no cups, no ice bin in room. Room REEKED of cigarette smoke and ******** - clearly from someone actively smoking within their unit nearby. To make it worse, the windows do not open, so I had to suffer all night smelling stale tobacco smoke and *********. As I was coming back late one night and exiting my car, an entire family of black bears emerged right from the adjacent field and walked right across the parking lot. Would NOT recommend this place unless as a last resort. There was not one available room left elsewhere in Sudbury, or I would have left."
