"The location is excellent. It's a 5-7 minute drive/tuk-tuk ride to the Buddha statue and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The room isn't large, but the beds are great and the towels are soft. The pool and restaurant are on the 7th floor. The food isn't bad – they serve tasty meals.
There's parking available for a couple of cars."

"The hotel was overbooked, so we were temporarily moved to another hotel. We returned to our original hotel the next morning, but neither hotel had hot water and the location was inconvenient, although the scenery was beautiful and the service was warm."

"Receptionist guy talks a lot!! Especially after a long day of traveling when you just want to check in and be quiet for a bit or relieve yourself in the bathroom. Take that into consideration. They didn’t clean the corridor and stairs till my last day. There were towels, bedsheets and just untidy path to my room. My rooms shower didn’t work so I had to shower across the hall in another room.Receptionist bathroom should always have to issue. The food is good!! The guys try!! The view since it’s uphill is the best!! Better than Kandy view…Close to temple !!"

Amazing
AAisitawayeshihouA three- and two-story villa has two bedrooms, and the third will be locked. The room is OK for local consumption. Breakfast in the morning, it is white rice breakfast, not curry, fresh food, OK
The surrounding environment is very good, wake you up in the morning by wild peacocks
The disadvantage is that the hot water in the bath is very short, and the water is cold before one person finishes washing.
EEnglish RoseMisty Hills Villa Kadugannawa boasts the most incredible view over local mountains, best enjoyed if you are taking a cooling dip in the (small, but perfectly positioned) infinity pool! My husband and I were very well looked after during our short stay. The hotel staff served lovely breakfasts, organised two dinners for us and booked a tuk tuk for a day trip to Kandy. They also surprised me with a beautiful little cake on my birthday and even sang to me! The only small points I would make is that the dinners are not actually cooked on site - and that the staff did not offer to clean or make up our bedroom during our 3 night stay. Nevertheless, much kindness and warmth was demonstrated towards us and we loved the rural position of the property.
GGuest UserI would like to report an incident that happened in the restaurant.
A large and arrogant staff member refused to let me sit at a larger table, saying it was reserved for four people. After our conversation, he deliberately placed a “Reserved” sign on the table.
Since no guests arrived, I later asked him again and he said the four guests would come at 21:30. However, the restaurant closes at 22:00, so this explanation did not make sense. In fact, no guests ever arrived.
When I asked other staff members for his name, they told me it was Sammy.
I was very disappointed by this dishonest behavior. The front desk staff at this hotel are excellent, so it is unfortunate that this experience in the restaurant left such a negative impression.
I visited this hotel as part of a preliminary inspection for a group tour. However, since there is a staff member who would casually lie to guests, I cannot guide my group to a hotel with such dishonest service. Therefore, I have decided not to include this hotel in our tour plans.
MMD JOBAYER HOSSAINMelheim Kandy Villas is a charming hillside retreat that blends comfort, nature, and warm hospitality beautifully. Nestled amidst lush greenery with sweeping views of the Kandy hills, it offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city while still being within a reasonable drive to key attractions.
The rooms are spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully designed, with large windows or balconies that let you soak in the serene surroundings. The beds are comfortable, and the overall ambiance feels homely yet refined. While the property is generally well-maintained, a few minor maintenance touches could make it even better.
One of the highlights is the service — the staff are genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to make your stay memorable. The breakfast is hearty and flavorful, often featuring fresh local produce, and dining on the terrace with a view is a treat in itself
2286184****The landscape is good, December is not the flood season with less water. The air is very fresh, but I was bitten by the water for the first time in my life and the blood flowed. The waiters at the hotel are very friendly and welcoming.
The facilities are really not good. There was no hot water in the bath for a few minutes, and there was no hot water later. The whole room has a small mirror on the bathroom sink. Toothbrush and toothpaste are not provided, and the hair dryer has to ask the hotel for it. Bottled water is not provided, there is a small bucket of drinking water in the room to drink. No quilt? There are two blankets found in the cabinet that will cover it.
The concept of ecological environmental protection can be understood, and the comfort level is definitely discounted. Finally, it is difficult to go to the hotel's mountain path. If you encounter the rainy season, there may be a landslide risk.
GGuest UserThe service is very good, the environment is average, the room is very humid and there are big bugs. The advantage is that the location is very good. It is on the top of the mountain in Kandy and has a good view. When you wake up in the morning, you can hear the chanting of Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple and see the morning mist.
MMtngAmaya Hills offers a picturesque panoramic view, making it a perfect retreat for nature lovers. The rooms are spacious, well-maintained, and comfortable, adding to the relaxing ambiance and nice weather.
While the check-in process can be a bit slow, the overall experience is pleasant. A great choice for a peaceful getaway.
GGuest UserThe Good
The standout feature of The Coffee Bungalow is undoubtedly its staff, particularly Adrian, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Everyone we encountered was attentive and genuinely warm, making us feel well cared for. The food was another highlight—delicious and thoughtfully prepared. A particularly nice touch was when they packed us a complimentary to-go lunch for our train journey out of Kandy, which was a pleasant and unexpected gesture.
The Bad
The lack of air conditioning was a notable downside, especially given Kandy’s humidity. While the property has a charming colonial feel, the absence of a solid door between the bedroom and bathroom was an odd design choice. Although the toilet and shower do have louvered doors, privacy is somewhat compromised. Another issue was the challenging entry system—we found ourselves locked out one night, which was frustrating and inconvenient.
The Ugly
Unfortunately, the biggest drawback was the ant problem. While some level of bugs is to be expected in a tropical setting, the sheer number of ants, particularly in the bathroom but also in the bedroom, was hard to ignore. It definitely impacted our overall comfort.
Overall, The Coffee Bungalow has a lot of charm and some truly wonderful hospitality, but there are a few quirks and inconveniences that might not suit every traveler. If you’re prepared for a bit of rustic charm and can handle the lack of AC and privacy, the warm service and great food may make up for the downsides.
GGuest UserThe best location close to the temple and to the show. The staff was very nice and help us with everything. The room is beautiful that let us feel the vibe of Sri Lanka. Recommend.
GGuest UserThe owners and employees at this hotel are so, so lovely.
Unfortunately their hotel is not. I almost feel catfished as many of the photos highlighted the bar and pool party atmosphere. This was not the case - the pool was a decent size but in the shade and I actually didn’t see anyone in it. The pool party drinking shots I highly suspect were perhaps not a genuine source.
The same goes for the bar which is massive and attended to by several lovely young, bored gentlemen as both times I popped up (once for dinner) I was the only patron. Again no party atmosphere or even people - which is a shame as it is a big venue.
Fortunately next door was another venue for some decent cocktails and music which saved the boredom somewhat.
The bedroom was a decent size with a small fridge (but didn’t work), the bathroom was small, felt dirty, no hand soap or soap for the shower (apart from leftover previous occupants - and that was gross).
The pressure was poor making showering difficult and there was plaster on the floor from some damage - not cleaned up.
The bed was massive and comfortable with air conditioning and a fan so sleep was good.
Finally, and to repeat, the staff were lovely. Very hospitable and the location is about a ten minute walk to the Sacred Tooth Temple and Kandy Lake. So great location.
Would I stay there again - no. Would I pop in to say hello to the owners and next door for a cocktails - possibly!
