Buying the ticket via Trip is possible to be cheaper than buying from the ticket office there. Lately there is a newborn dolphin and it was so cuteeee. If anyone go there around this time, i really recommended to see the baby dolphin. Also, another popular thing from this aquarium is the Jellyfish zone. Don’t forget to see it!

The kids requested to see the dolphin show, so we went again this time. This time we sat in the front row, and every time the dolphins jumped, we got splashed with water, which made the kids incredibly excited! It was even more impressive than we imagined, and the adults enjoyed it too. If you want to fully enjoy the show from the front row, bringing a change of clothes is a must (lol). You can enjoy the dolphin performance from such a close distance, so it's especially recommended for families with children. It was a show we definitely want to see again!

Located near Katase-Enoshima Station on the Odakyu Line, this aquarium is very convenient for family outings. The large tank inside the aquarium is impressive, and it was a great sight to see so many fish swimming up close. The large octopus was also impressive, and the children were very interested. The dolphin show was especially good. We were able to get close to the dolphins and enjoy their powerful performance. With its easy access, this is a highly recommended aquarium that the whole family, from children to adults, can enjoy.

Brief History of Enoshima Aquarium

New Enoshima Aquarium

Enoshima Aquarium boasts nearly 70 years of history, making it one of Japan’s oldest coastal aquariums. Here are its key historical milestones:

  • 1954: Founded by Hisasaku Hori, the aquarium officially opened on July 1.
  • Iconic Highlights: It earned high recognition with 9 visits from Emperor Hirohito. It also became famous for two star residents — world-record-breaking elephant seal Daikichi and popular beluga whale Minazo (1995–2005).
  • 1967: A major expansion added Asia’s largest dolphin pool at that time, launching its signature dolphin shows.
  • 2003–2004: The old facility closed on December 31, 2003. The brand-new modern aquarium reopened on April 16, 2004, attracting 1.8 million visitors in its first year.

I bought it for communication in China, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The plan is for 30 days. I initially connected in China. This isn't my first time using an e-SIM, and the connection here is very convenient. The main thing is to have data roaming enabled. Upon arrival in Vietnam, everything turned on automatically, and the same happened upon arrival in Indonesia. Everything connects to the required network automatically. It works without any problems, and says 5G. It loads everything, and I can view both pictures and videos. I'm very happy.

The network worked well without any problems. There might be some areas outside the city, in the mountains, or where there's no signal on the subway. I recommend installing it in advance so you can start using it as soon as you land at your destination airport. I really liked it; it's convenient and fast, no need to change SIM cards, just press install and it's ready to use.

The stable communication environment makes it very easy and convenient to use on a daily basis. Internet connectivity is smooth, allowing for comfortable browsing of websites, watching videos, using social media, and sending and receiving messages. The ease of using the network even when out and about is a major advantage, allowing you to check necessary information regardless of location. You can truly appreciate the quality of the communication environment in various situations where you use your smartphone, such as for work, communication, and online procedures. Furthermore, the stable connection minimizes the stress of slow loading times and disconnections, allowing for worry-free use. For those who frequently use smartphones and the internet in their daily lives, ease of communication is extremely important. Overall, the stable communication and smooth operation make it a very convenient and user-friendly communication environment, suitable for a wide range of uses from daily life to work, communication, and information gathering.

Enoshima Aquarium Ticket Prices & Opening Hours

New Enoshima Aquarium

I’ve broken down the clear, official ticket pricing for all visitor categories, so you can plan your budget easily. All prices are standard admission rates:

  • Adults & University Students: Standard full admission rate
  • Junior & Senior High School Students: Discounted student rate
  • Elementary School Students: Lower child rate
  • Toddlers & Early Childhood: Minimal or free entry (age-specific)

To save money, look into combo tickets that pair aquarium entry with nearby attractions like the Enoshima Candle. For convenience, I recommend booking tickets online in advance via platforms like Trip.com — you can often find bundled activity deals and skip on-site ticket lines, which saves tons of time during peak travel seasons. You can also buy tickets in person at the venue entrance if you prefer spontaneous visits.

Opening Hours & Best Visiting Times

The aquarium follows seasonal operating hours, so double-check before your visit to avoid disappointment:

  • March – November: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • December – February: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Important rule: Ticket sales and final entry close one hour before closing time. Also, hours may shift slightly during spring break, summer vacation, and year-end/New Year holidays.

From my travel experience, the best time to visit is weekday early mornings right when opening. Weekends and Japanese school holidays get extremely crowded. Off-peak winter months (excluding New Year) are also perfect for a quiet, leisurely visit with no crowds.

Must Visit Exhibit Zones: What Makes Enoshima Aquarium Unique

Unlike generic aquariums, every zone here has a unique highlight you won’t easily find elsewhere. From immersive deep-sea displays to viral-worthy jellyfish halls, every corner feels curated and special. These are the standout spots you absolutely have to check out.

Sagami Bay Tank: The Showstopping Centrepiece

New Enoshima Aquarium

The Sagami Bay Tank is the aquarium’s top highlight, replicating the full underwater ecosystem of Sagami Bay, from shallow coastal waters to deep-sea environments.

It features a wide variety of local marine life and holds a world-first distinction: the only permanent exhibit of Japanese anchovy fry on Earth. Its impressive scale and realistic scenery make it a must-see attraction.

Jellyfish Fantasy Hall: Viral-Worthy Underwater Magic

New Enoshima Aquarium

If you’ve seen dreamy, ethereal Japanese aquarium photos online, chances are they’re from Enoshima’s Jellyfish Fantasy Hall. This is the most photographed and talked-about zone in the entire venue, and it lives up to every bit of hype.

Multiple dedicated display zones feature dozens of jellyfish species, paired with soft, shifting ambient lighting that creates a surreal, otherworldly underwater dreamscape. Beyond its visual beauty, this hall represents groundbreaking marine research. For me, this calm, mesmerizing space was the perfect break from busy sightseeing crowds.

Oceanic Stadium: Dolphin & Orca Shows

Enoshima Aquarium

No visit here is complete without catching a show at the outdoor Oceanic Stadium. The popular dolphin and orca performances are lively, family-friendly, and full of personality. Show schedules change seasonally, so it’s best to check the official timetable on arrival.

A quick insider tip: scope out the famous splash zone if you don’t mind getting a little wet — it’s the most interactive seating area! If you prefer to stay dry, pick higher or side seats. The shows are short but engaging, perfect for both kids and adult travellers looking for a fun, lively experience.

Deep-Sea Wonders & DSV Shinkai 2000 Exhibit

Enoshima Aquarium

For science and ocean lovers, the deep-sea zone is absolutely fascinating. It’s dedicated to rare deep-sea ecosystems that most people never get to see up close. You’ll find unique chemosynthetic environments with deep-sea fish and tube worms, plus a stunning whalebone community exhibit that showcases how marine life repurposes natural deep-sea resources.

The biggest highlight here is the permanent display of the DSV Shinkai 2000, a crewed deep-sea research vessel, in collaboration with JAMSTEC (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology). This exhibit also features newly discovered deep-sea species like Asymmetron inferum, making it a super educational, one-of-a-kind stop for curious travellers.

Nagisa Experience Learning Centre: Ideal for Family Trips

Enoshima Aquarium

If you’re traveling with kids (or just love interactive hands-on exhibits), don’t skip the Nagisa Experience Learning Centre. Best of all? It’s 100% free to enter, run by Kanagawa Prefecture and open to all visitors.

The second-floor touch aquarium lets little ones (and adults!) gently interact with small marine creatures. There are also dedicated experiment classrooms, an internet-based learning corner, and fun interactive programs held every Saturday and Sunday. It’s a relaxed, low-pressure space to learn about marine life, making it perfect for family travel days.

Imperial Marine Biology Research Exhibit

Enoshima Aquarium

This is a uniquely Japanese cultural and scientific exhibit you won’t find at international aquariums. It honors the marine biology research conducted by Japan’s imperial family, including Emperor Hirohito, Emperor Akihito, and Prince Fumihito. It adds a thoughtful, historical layer to the visit, blending local culture with ocean science and setting this aquarium apart from other global marine attractions.
