Winchester Hotels with Breakfast

A really good welcome and room brilliant. Breakfast was delicious. Central position, close to cathedral and safe parking. Most enjoyable.

Very distinctive hotel, next to Winchester Public School and Jane Austen's Former Residence Museum, five minutes walk to the cathedral, three minutes in the park, there is a very clear river when walking in the morning, very beautiful! Wolfsey Castle ruins are a four-minute walk away! In short, a very good stay! Breakfast is also delicious...

The Running Horse is a very good personable country pub with rooms which are very well appointed with comfortable beds. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we had a business lunch in their semi private room which was simple but excellent. The only reason I marked them down a little was because of several carpet stains that I do feel should be removed - or if not removable then they should put in a new carpet as they were large and off putting. Highly recommended!

Good, worth living

The location is no better, the Winchester Cathedral is opposite the main entrance, there is no parking lot, but the hotel provides a parking permit for a nearby parking space, and there is no charge. Breakfast can be delivered to the room for free, or it can be eaten in a rustic restaurant decorated downstairs. The rooms are too big, the solid wood furniture is also antique, very romantic, and the bathroom is spacious and comfortable. The perfect hotel, will definitely go again next time. The owners are lovely, nothing too much trouble. Room is lovely with quality toiletries provided. We were on third floor and the stairs were quite hard, but the room was worth it. May be difficult if you have mobility problems. Nice selection of tea coffees and hot chocolate. Good WiFi. Beautiful white bedding and towels. Location is great. Only downside was the walk to the reasonably priced longstay carpark in the blistering heat. Not good for people with mobility issues. There is a more expensive car park closer. That said we will 100% return and use the closer car park. Breakfast was lovely. We paid for room only but there was a selection of bread, yoghurt jams etc and pastries available for us included. All locally produced. (we just paid for our coffee and breakfasts on menu) Wonderful weekend had by all.

The water in the shower is so slow and weak that it was dripping and it was not warm, quite cold. Difficult to shower and wash hair. :(

Lovely staff and great hotel location for anyone that’s a bit more car centric. Despite not using the on site facilities as much, the staff were lovely, friendly & helpful at any hour. The room was spotlessly clean, and had decent basic amenities, but the room I stayed in was starting to look a little tired. Decent value for money however, especially for the time of the year & a weekend.
